All about breastmilk storage & building your stash
« on: January 22, 2013, 10:00:03 am »
im going back to work next week , 1month na baby ko by then. sa ngayon i am using medela bottles to store my milk sa ref. paano kung gusto ko mag freeze ng milk? pano ang rotation?

milk trays or milk bags mas ok gamitin?

for storing, eto guidelines ng pedia ko:

freshly expressed:
room temp- 4 to 10hrs
ref- 5 to 7 days
home freezer- 3 to 6months
chest type freezer- 6 to 12months

thawed breastmilk( previously frozen):
room temp- do not store!
ref- 24hrs
home /chest freezer- never refreeze thawed milk

to thaw the milk, place under running water or in a bowl of warm water. do not use HOT water.

Hi sis! I've been breastfeeding my baby since birth, 11 months na siya ngayon and thank God exclusive pa din kami :) Since nag 2 months siya balik work na ako. Pero every other day lang kasi ang pasok ko kaya mas naging madali para sa akin. I have the Avent manual pump and what I do is I store milk on VIA cups. Nung 2-3 months pa lang siya. she can consume 8oz. of milk lang while I'm away ( 2oz per feed, 4x per day). That time I can pump up to 12oz. sa office so may sobra pa, I store the excess sa freezer.

Nung 4-7 months (ata, not sure kung ilang months exactly), nakaka 12oz. na siya so sakto lang yung napupump ko. E gusto ko may extra parati so kahit nasa bahay lang ako minsan I pump in between feedings.

- to produce more milk, you have to extract more milk.

- carica malunggay capsules work. At least for me.

So oarang na defeat yung purpose diba?

- do NOT microwave your milk. Namamatay yung nutrients.

Isip pa ako ng mashe-share :)

^thanks so much sus! available ba sa malls natin yung Avent Via Cups?

pwede ba i freeze yung cups?

sa ngayon 2.5oz per feeding baby ko (23days old) , every 2.5 to 3 hours.

bukas start ko i take note ilan ba napproduce ko in a day. nakakalito kasi lagay lang ako ng lagay sa ref. ubos na nga lalagyan ko kaya gusto ko sana bumili ng additional storage.

You're welcome sis :) yup, may VIA cups sa malls. Hanapin mo lang yung Avent section. You can get 10 cups plus 2 adaptor thingies -- hindi ko alam tawag sa kanila haha, pero you attach it to the cup para pwede maging feeding bottle yung VIA -- for 1k+ yata.

Plus pigeon and unimom storage cups. I prefered avent via cups, mas convenient, can stack vertically at mas mabilis hugasan. You can use these to freeze, thaw and sa bottle warmer. Available sa malls yun, but i bought mine online, way cheaper than mall.

Kapag avent via naman gamit ko, mas madali kasi i stack it vertically. Kung ano yung nasa taas, mauunang gamitin.

I pumped 4-5x a day and i can pump 4-5oz/ breast na/ pump, max 10 stash lang na bubuild ko. Ang lakas kasi mag milk ni baby eh...everyday she can finish at least 20oz of BM. :)

thanks for sharing girls!

may nabili ako ngayon online, Evenflow storage bottles. 4pcs, 350pesos. tig 5oz capacity. sana ok sila. bpa free and pwede rin i freeze.

^thanks for sharing sis!

When I went back to work, my daughter was 3 months old and was exclusively breastfed. I built my milk stash 1 week prior to going back to work. Tapos non, everyday may dala kong around 3-4 bags of 6 oz of pumped milk. I used Nanny milk bags tapos I labelled them para I would know which ones need to be consumed first.

I had to store milk because my working hours were midshift-nighshift. There were times pa na my schedule can just change anytime depending on my work assignment. The stored milk was really to ensure that my daughter had enough supply while I was at work. I also donated a couple of bags sa NICU, as advised by my pedia. She was surprised na malakas milk supply ko.

I recently resigned from my work and hubby said that I should focus on the incoming baby nalang muna. Should I store BM pa din ba even if I will be a full-time mom for a while? :-\

Hi sis, saan mo nabili yung evenflo storage bottles? Thanks!

I'm going back to work din in two weeks and i'll start to build my stash na.

Sis maika, if u are staying at home for now and sabi nga ni sa m_lim, if u can direct feed maybe u don't need it as much as others na will go back to work after ng ML. Kaya Lang, it may also be useful so u can also go out every now and then kahit 2-3 hrs tapos someone can feed your baby while u are out.

I was able to store/freeze a few bags of 5-6 ounces each kaya Lang around 5-6 weeks ni baby eh lumakas siya mag-milk (or humina supply Ko) kaya ayun unti unti naubos. Medyo sad pero Tanggap Ko na na mag-fix feed nako starting next week when I go back to work. We already bought formula but so far, no need to open pa and I'm happy we still get by. The milk I pump recently, I just store sa ref at nabibigay ni yaya Kay baby the next day or two. Wish Ko rin maka-ipon kahit 3 servings Lang before Monday and hopefully whatever I pump at work will be enough the next day.

I use Medela storage bottles and lansinoh milk bags. I also have the label lids of Medela that fit the bottles for convenience tapos palit na Lang with teats pag feeding time na.

Hehe

Pano yung set up nun, mga sis?

someone correct me if im wrong.

laway.
