BORACAY Wedding (Thread 2)

hello everyone!

i am new here, just decided to join kasi super helpful yung thread na ito. i am from kalibo, aklan approximately just an hour and a half from the island. my fiancee and i decided to marry in boracay this december 23. medyo gahol ako sa time considering we started all the preps just 2 weeks ago. had i not come across this thread, i wouldn't have any idea of the other hotels to consider!

naginquire na din ako sa Seawind this year lang, late Feb ata yun. nasa 300k na halos sis yung package nila for 30 pax pa lang kaya hindi na kami nagpush.

I inquired a month or a few weeks ago lang, and they gave me a wedding package na Php135,000 for up to 100 guests. But Php1,250 pp for the buffet...

chicgurl Yeah, my main issue with getting married in the Philippines are these papeles! My friend said it took her 3 months before she got hers, and my other friend who's married to a British national said she had to get the marriage certificate validated (or something) at DFA para magamit nila for visa purposes. So I thought better do a civil somewhere else na lang, and the proper ceremony sa Pinas kase the hassle!

mscooper Best wishes to you and your future hubby! I'm sure doable yan, especially since you're in the area! Medyo stressful nga lang because of the time, but you'll be able to do it! Hehe, cheerleader lang ang peg.

Anyway, the fiance and I are visiting Boracay this October to have a look around...although I don't know, is it better ba to meet ang potential wedding organisers? I didn't think you'd need to, but since we will be in the area...

@mscooper: that was our plan before get married civil muna then ceremony sa pinas but we decided it'll be much sweeter and sincere yung vows namin when we do it for the first time and it was indeed. i am glad na ok naman na ng NSO marriage cert namin. ngayon i am processing it for DFA authentication + UAE embassy stamping in Phils. meron namang agency (Tel-PPT Service Corporation) na gumagawa ng service so less hassle na din. send lang ng payment tapos sila na ang mag aayos for you then dedeliver sa address na preferred mo.

chicgurl well, my h2b is an italian national and we were really worried on the docs. tapos pareho pa kaming busy-busyhan... we thought to do it in hk then after a yr, church wed na dito. but then i had a thorough research and i noticed pag sa boracay medyo lenient sila. in my case, since taga akl lang din ako, i know where (or whom) to pull the strings, that's why go lang ng go.

@Iammaree.. Thanks! Wedding is actually January 2016  and got Amanda to coordinate. Not so many emails exchanged with her yet although  she seems nice  to let get her since Sept 2013. Ganoon ako ka determined to get her dahil sa reviews.   At this stage, I want to know more about the venue and the FOOD! Does anyone know if its worth it the pricing for both Discovery and Edsa Shangrila?

sis gj1206 all-in na yung 300k na quote sa kin kasama na yung for the buffet. then yung rate pa for the rooms na din (5 days stay na kami)

same din yung quote sa kin. 100k for the package. 1200 for the buffet. pero may added payments eh.

+ separate payment for the beach setup
+ payment para sa pag-aayos daw ng papers
+ payment para sa pastor

ayun, kaya hindi na kami nagpush hehe. nagulantang na ko agad sa "added payments" naghanap na kami agad ng ibang option hehe 

sis iAmMariee kami naman sa 28 yung wedding, 26 andun na kami. para pagkadating namin dun we will finalize everything with the events organizer ng resort and handover sa kanila yung mga dala naming gamit for the wedding.

sis chicgurl please let me know how long the whole process took -- from filing sa NSO (sa Aklan, right?) until after all this DFA processing. I originally wanted to do just one proper ceremony, but like I said, the length of time for all the papeles! We really want to be together in one city na ASAP! hehe.

sis babythug28 oh yeah, 35k daw for the beach setup. Hmm, actually it is just over 250k if we decide to have a beach setup (medyo hindi ko kase type and sand, pero we'll see when we do an ocular in October if matitiis namin!). Did you get a wedding coordinator?

Anyway, in that case...let me know about Sol Marina, ha! That's where you'll be having yours, right?

sis darkhorse how much did you have put down to book Amanda? 20%, 50%?

^ aw ang bilis naman magtaas. last time 30k lang quote nya for beach setup. hehe. mukhang ok naman din yung sand sa area ng Seawind. yun ata yung part na mas malawak pa yung area kumpara sa mga stations 2-3. wala na kong kinuhang wedding coordinator. as in tight budget kami for the wedding eh. hehe. nasa 35k din kasi kung kukuha ako ng coordinator dun. yung pagpasa ng marriage contract namin sa civil registry ng Caticlan, ipapakisuyo na lang namin sa tropa ng brother ko who lives there. so far so good naman communication namin with Sol Marina. hope they can deliver kundi ako yari sa asawa ko hahaha!

may mga nasearch naman ako sis na mga wedding sa Sol Marina recently. modify ko na lang ulit tong post kapag nakita ko na ulit yung links para you can see it too.

babythug28 I think most resorts separate ang beach ceremony set up. aside from things you mentioned, may additional pa for permit to have the reception on the beach, php6k i think in 2012 (seawind).

Singit ako sa sand, station 1 has the widest beach nga compared to 2  and 3. gj1206 not sure what you didnt like but for me station 1 has the finest sand din. anyway, kanya-kanya naman ng like.

share ko a 6 second raw video from Bordoy, disregard me in the video, when I saw this video I was really in awe of Boracay's sand, ganda and ang puti. nakaka-proud to be Pinoy. sa harap ito ng seawind.

^ it's already 7500 na ngayon sis. and yes, i think yung Seawind area yung wala masyadong tao so you don't have to worry kung may padaan daan likod ng area nyo na mga bakasyonista

^ lahat talaga tumataas price. sa set-up ng reception actually nakatalikod kami sa beach so hindi namin kita ang mga passers-by. feel ko private na private ang reception.

@gj1206: the marriage license docs etc were all processed by Amanda for us nagsend lang kami ng required docs sa kanya and we filled out the application form. Usual process Cenomar for Pinoys and CONI & LOLC (Certificate of No Impediment) for my husband which he got from his home country then their MOFA faxed it sa embassy nila sa Philippines. Then for the MC naman after the ceremony Amanda filed it sa Local Registrar sa City Hall after 3 days ng wedding nasa amin na yung MC namin. then last week lang we got out MC na NSO Authenticated na. This week pinapaprocess ko na yung MC namin na ma authenticate ng DFA + UAE embassy sa Pinas. So para sakin mabilis siya. baka end of next week or after next week nasa akin na yung MC namin na pulido haha DFA + embassy authenticated. Ganon kasi ang kelangan dito sa UAE. so roughly 2 months after the wedding ok na lahat. hope this helps sis..

^ hi sis.. sorry now lang di kasi ako naggigirltalk pag weekend dito sa uae hehe.. thank you sis for watching and the greetings. that's the first thing i asked our guests if the food was ok.. they said it was very good. esp the seafood thermidore. actually walang natira sa buffet namin haha lechon lang ata yung may natira kasi siyempre ang laki nun diba? hehe pero lahat ubos. masarap daw yung food ng asya, well nung nagfood tasting naman kami last year masarap eh so we were confident na magugustuhan ng guests. and we are so glad na superb ang food.. about the food set up sa beach you need to coordinate with amanda if she is your coordinator + Asya kasi nagkaroon kami ng konting issue about that pero naayos naman nila. so better clear that up with them if sa asya kayo papakasal.

Hi ex and future boracay brides!

I haven't been on this forum for a while , naging busy busyhan kasi since we got back in the UK. How's the wedding preps ladies? I can't believe it's 6 months to go na Lang before the big day . An update to ours, medyo behind kami cause fiancé is away most of the time due to work related commitments . Of course I need his approval especially to our suppliers. But we are getting there naman!

@chicgurl : Congratulations on your big day! What a beautiful couple , and you are a stunning bride! I love watching your SDE, teary eyed ako especially on the wedding vows part. I'm getting veejay floresca too as my couture! So when I saw your dress , mas lalo ako na excite to be a floresca bride! I have a question to ask regarding sa photographer , we are still undecided between pat dy and mangored . I know they are both good, magka iba Lang ang style . The only problem is , pat dy team they prefer to fly via caticlan . Fiancé thinks, it's too much Kung sila pa ang pipili where they want to fly with when in fact kami Naman mg sho shoulder ng flights nila etc. Thats why we are a bit hesitant Kung kukunin namin sila or what. With mangored naman, we haven't  heard from them yet if they will mind to fly via Kalibo. Di ba sila ang photographer nyo sis?  Ano preference nila when you booked them? I hope we can decide the soonest!


@ iammariee: how's the wedding prep so far? December bride ka rin di ba? Hope all is well.

@ shegie : I know nag pm ka sa akin noon on what to do to get the CNI for the marriage license, for some reasons Hindi ko ma retrieve yung message mo. kindly send it to me again please if you don't mind . Kelangan ba pala mg personal appearance pa si fiancé sa Irish embassy sa Manila? Kasi we are planning to fly a week before the wedding, Baka Kulangin na kami sa oras.

we also considered Pat Dy as our photograper kasi maganda ang work niya kaso when my fiance/husband inquired sabi ni hubby medyo nayabangan daw siya sa sagot sa inquiry niya. Yan din ang requirement ng team ni Pat Dy sa amin dapat daw via caticlan ililipad silang lahat at Client shoulders food, round trip air fare via caticlan pref PAL, transfers and lodging at white house or same venue as bride/groom. ayan i copied and pasted yung reply nila samin before.. at ang out of town fee nila is 25K Php halos same rate sila ni MangoRed. pero mas madaming inclusion si Pat Dy like merong photo SDE at merong 5x15 Panoramic with frame si MangoRed walang ganon, album lang, print outs  and dvd for all the raw photos. Pero wala naman akong masabi sa work ethics nina MangoRed super down to earth ang sarap kausap at katrabaho especially si Randall and si Chyvin.  3 silang photographers nung wedding namin. we are satisfied naman sa results.. walang preference na sinabi si MangroRed; we flew MangoRed from manila to caticlan via cebupac then kalibo to manila via zest air. kasi super mahal talaga ng airfare pag april at bilang ang laki na ng gastos namin ganon yung ginawa ko.. wala naman akong narinig na reklamo sa kanila, i think nainitidihan naman nila. pero nasa sayo pa din yan sis if si Pat Dy or MangoRed. In fairness to Pat Dy's works super ganda din naman.. he's more into Fashion Editorial photos kasi diba?

i have checked seawind kasi based on your comments super nice sya. and yes...no doubt ang ganda ng view. kaya lang ganun pala yun, if you are a local. parang nahihiya naman ako considering i was assigned near the area as a public school teacher. hahaha. and most of my former students are working in boracay. aaaaargh...i opted fairways na lang. anybody here knew kung kumusta naman yung fairways in terms of wedding reception?

does anyone have any experience with a sunset chill out at Discovery Shores. Can you share rates/comments.

Just an update regarding my preps. 

For the venue... We loved  Shangrila we thought the room requirement was pricey since we both decided to pay for our families. So we are down to Discovery and Asya. We looked at set-up, location, and rooms. We decided on Asya since we get the privacy we wanted from Shangrila during the event and have asked Amanda regarding food ( as it is very important for us) and services and feedback has been positive regarding Asya. So looking forward to working out the details with them.

Also booked our P/V, we have booked Pat Dy and Mayad. Pat Dy as FH was in love with him and has settled for the photographer to be his non-negotiable. I have worked with Jason Magbanua before and his really good. I wanted him but very pricey and since we both love taking pictures rather than videos.We also thought spending the money with organising events for our families. We are happy with Mayad, since they were part of our top 3 in videos. Main advantage is they don't charge the extras. So that is really good.

So that is all for now.
