Random act of kindness you'll never forget
« on: January 06, 2013, 06:48:02 pm »
Hi there!

I was really uneasy with my wet feet and I was so tired... Ready na ako tumayo for half an hour pero there was this guy who offered me his seat... Pero that meant a lot to me..

Kayo, what's your story?

Sept 2011; late afternoon in NYC.
I was walking around, biglang  shucks umulan!
I was deciding where to make silong -- when a man just shoved an open umbrella into my  palm (which held up uselessly shading my face from the rain).    I wasn't even able to say thanks -- he hurried off in the rain.

This happened around 2011. Papasok na ako sa work noon and I was already inside the Ayala-bound FX. Yung katapat ko na kuya who looks like he doesn't even have money to spare, handed me Php50.

Sobrang hiyang hiya ako kasi at the time naka-full corporate attire pa ako, tapos hello, walang pamasahe? I got his number para maiabot yung payment sa barker nung terminal. I don't know up to this day kung nakuha niya yung bayad because he never replied after my texts.

Standing in line at the grocery in the middle of holiday rush. I only had 1 item to purchase, a can of milk for my baby. The lady in front of me (despite us both waiting a good 30 mins) told me to go ahead of her seeing that I only had 1 item. Super grateful!

People who have helped me with my luggage when I travel solo.

last week, when i got of the bus and started to walk going to work, bigla bumagsak malakas na snow. it was almost zero visibility tapos ang lakas ng hangin. meron car who pulled over and told me to get in. sabi ko its ok, kasi i know the man's office is malapit lang yung sa akin dulo pa. but he said no worries i will bring you there. so sumakay ako and hinatid nya ako sa harap ng office building then turned back to go to his office. i was so happy the whole day.

Then this guy, overheard our conversation yata, then just handed my Php10 para makapagbayad na ako.

I was super relieved and grateful :) That was 6 years ago pa.

SONA noon, time ni GMA. Yung office ko eh sa Quezon Ave and I'm from San Mateo, so ang route ko eh commonwealth and batasan.

I was there for 5 or 10 minutes!

then a guy walking towards mrt stopped, he saw ata what I was doing. He took the shoe and tinanggal yung heel. as in isang bend lang tanggal agad. I was surprised. He gave the shoe back and the heel tapos smiled tapos umalis na. As in no words or anything. Sa sobrang amaze ko, it took me few seconds to process what he did. hahaha.

He was about to leave when I said thank you and smiled back. tapos tumango lang sya then he walked away. Tapos sinuot ko na the shoe tapos bumili ako agad ng shoes kahit mumurs lang. hahaha. nakakatuwa lang he saved me effortless in some way that time. It happend pala sa walkway in edsa-guadalupe katapat ng gudalupe mall.

i was working pa that time sa makati med, super late na kaya mega rush from mrt diretso ako ng hagdan sa sobra yatang panic ko kasi nauna na yung mga patients kesa sa akin parang nauna ang katawan ko nag move kesa sa paa ko to step so nawalan na ako ng balanse, isip ko diretso na ako sa emergency when all of a sudden biglang may humila sa akin from behind and saved me from falling down the stairs. He didnt say a single word, hindi man lang lumingon mabilis ang pangyayari nakababa agad sya and then disappeared.I was speechless. As far as i can remember, walang ibang tao na pababa ng hagdan that time ako lang (Buendia station) , i think he is my guardian angel, super thankful ako.

Yong di ko makalimutan when I was in college. Napagitnaan namin ni Manong driver yong anak niya na around 12 years old. Ang layo ko na when I realized I left my wallet. Hiyang hiya ako pero Manong driver was so understanding sabi niya nangyayari talaga yon. He asked his son to give me 50 or 100 pesos para may pambili ako food and pamasahe pauwi. I almost cried and prayed na sana God would keep the father and son blessed.

I love this thread. :) Here's my contribution:

My flight home earlier this month got cancelled again, for the second time in a row. The walk to the rebook/refund booth was pretty far and being in the last semester of my pregnancy, I couldn't walk as fast as the other passengers. Needless to say, I was one of the last in line when I got to the booth.

People were disgruntled, the line was moving slow and on top of that, the staff were saying that there were very few seats left for tomorrow's flight. I was losing hope at that moment when two Chinese nationals at the very front of the line saw me and my belly and insisted that I go ahead of them. I was able to get on the flight the next day and get home in time for my checkup, before my medical travel certificate expired. The two Chinese men weren't on that flight with me but I'm forever grateful to them!

Yung 1st travel ko with my eldest son, 2 m/o pa lang sya that time. Isang FDW at nurse.

Hahaha :)

Nung nag-apply ako ng work sa province namin. Medyo malayo sya so kelangan kong mamasahe.

here's mine: applicant din ako dati nung nangyari to, lumuwas pa ko ng manila to get this interview sa isang hotel, nandun nko umagang umaga palang then inabot yung interview ng lunch time sa dami ng applicant hindi nila na accomodate, so pinapabalik kami after lunch na eh ang pera ko nun is sakto lang as in, so the other applicants said lets take our lunch first nahihiya ako kase sakto lang money ko, then meron isang applicant na nag offer na libre nya nalang daw lunch ko. grabe super thank you ako sa kanya kahit super hiya rin ako.

Ang sarap magbasa ng thread na to. Marami pa rin mabait na tao , so there's still hope :).

Here's my experiences. These 3 incidences happened within a month to me .First , I went to a jewelry/ watch  repair shop inside Puregold. I asked the girl sa shop to clean my eternity ring, kasi meron silang ultrasonic cleaner yata tawag dun.  Pagkatapos,  I asked how much, pero sabi niya huwag na raw . I insisted on paying her, pero ayaw niya tanggapin. So, I happily thanked her na lang . Afterwards, naging suki talaga ako ng shop nila like when I need a change of battery ng watch. The second one is at Mr Quickie, may pinanpalitan ako na yung pang close ng zipper, tapos ganun din ayaw na pabayaran. When I asked how much, wala daw and even gave me  me a pouch.

I was so surprise asking myself what good deeds I have done  to deserve such good karma na sunod sunod.

I also had my share . I saw an old woman, na parang hirap maglakad, and I approached her and inalalayan ko hanggang maisakay ko siya sa jeep. One time while driving , I saw a girl na  hindi makalusong sa may baha, medyo mababaw lang pero ayaw nya siguro basain shoes nya.  I opened my car and asked her to ride para maitawid sa baha. At first natakot yata yung bata, baka nga naman kidnapper ako.

Actually, marami na rin pero eto just last year : baha kasi sa kanto ng street namin hanggang paa lang
naman pero the flood has been there for many months already habang naglalakad kami ng daughter ko
pauwi sa house may humintong kotse at pinasasakay kami. Wala ng kyime pa sumakay agad kami ;D kasi i'm more concern with my daughter kahit naka-rubber boots pa sya :) i just thanked them and prayed for them to have more blessings. twice nangyari sa amin yun pero different person.

During ondoy naman- binaha kami so we need to temporarily leave the house kasi stagnant yung water habang naglalakad kaming pamilya may nag-invite sa amin na dun na lang daw kami sa bahay nila sa kabilang village. they were also affected by floods i didn't expect someone fr strangers eh will invite us to their house samantalang yung kumare ng asawa ko na nasa kanto lang namin ang bahay kahit aso namin na nasa kulungan di nila tinanggap. i was touched sa invitation though we've declined it kasi nahiya rin naman kami.

I asked somebody from this forum re. a support group for women. Hindi nya dined a & gave me the info that I need & for someone na ligalig she made me feel that there is hope somewhere.
I posted something in this forum just to vent off & 2 women replied. One even gave me her number & told me that if I need somebody to talk to that she's just there....and for someone who feels that I'm always at the brink of insanity to hear them say, I'm not alone... Wow! I'm forever grateful & it makes you want to pay it forward to say to a total stranger that whatever you are going through, someone a complete stranger is willing to listen & sometimes that is enough... There's hope....

One day naiwan nya wallet nya, but we're far to go back pa.

I was in Osaka then, in a little town. I was looking for a school. So I asked this old lady. My Japanese then (well, up until now) is not that good but I was able to communicate the place where I want to go to. Since she is in a hurry to go somewhere, she stopped a boy passing by and asked him to accompany me. And so he did. It was awkward being a foreigner and not being able to speak clearly. So I said sorry to him in Japanese. And he answered something like, "what are you being sorry for? don't be. It's okay". Yes, naintindihan ko yun kahit in Japanese. Anyway, so the boy did help me find the way.

And then in Niigata as well, I was going to a concert place but I dunno where it is. So I asked this woman who was then with her daughter. And then they realized we were going to the same place so they asked me if I want to go with them (in Japanese) and they did take me there. They even kept me company the whole time before the actual concert. And mind you, I was the only foreigner there. And being in a company of a foreigner might not be in the best of your interest sometimes in Japan. So I appreciate these people more and more.

I hope they are all okay. : )
