Thanks sisses MrsB and sarsingkit. Hay, ang hirap din pala ano. Wala ako kamag anak sa Canada eh, pero meron ako mga kakilala and I don't think willing silang tulungan ako makapunta dun, ahaha. Pansin ko nga, blue collar jobs sila pero naman ang pamumuhay, ganda ng car.

Ayos lang sa akin mag switch sa blue collar job kahit temporary lang, for sure naman mas malaki sahod compared sa sahod ko dito sa Pinas. Isip isip ako kung anong blue collar job ang keri ko.

^I don't want to put your hopes down, sis pero mahirap na talagang makapunta ng Canada ngayon. Kahit ako gusto kong tulungan ang mga pinsan at kaibigan ko (syempre mas masaya kung kasama ko sila dito) pero wala rin akong maisip na paraan. Unless ihanap ko sila ng Canadian na mapapangasawa hehe!

Anyway, wala namang pakialaman dito kung ano ang trabaho mo. Kanya-kanya naman dito, ang importante kumita ka ng pambayad ng bills.

^^kahit naman ano work mo, ayos lang. Saka hindi naman ibig sabihin na blue collar job eh maliit ang sweldo. May husband works on a blue collar type of work pero malaki pa sweldo nya kesa sa akin. Minsan nga mas ok sa blue collar kasi maraming available overtime. hehe.

Salary will always be bigger pero ang kalaban mo is cost of living. Nung bagong dating din ako parang na-overwhelm ako sa sweldo pag compared sa peso. Syempre ang saya saya ko naman to think the working hours here are less compared sa inuubos kong oras sa Pinas sa pagtatrabaho. Pero yun nga yung pero saglit lang mararating once nagabayad na ng bills. Pero kahit saan ko naman makarating basta live within your means eh makaksurvive ka naman.

^Karamihan ng available jobs dito ay sa fast food restos (crew/staff). Pwede rin sa mga grocery stores (cashier, shelf stacker). Kung sa sales siya, pwede rin apply sa mga shops. To be honest, walang bearing dito ang education at experience sa ibang bansa eh. Ang kailangan ay Canadian experience at education kung gusto mo talagang mag-land sa magandang job at magka-career.

^Not sure about call centers, parang wala pa akong kilala o nakilala na nagwowork doon. Just last night, my husband called Telus' hotline. Pinoy ang sumagot, parang yung call center nila ay based sa Pinas hehe.

Hotels? Medyo rigid ang requirements kapag hotel di ba. I am not sure if they accept employees with no Canadian experience.

Madali makapasok sa call centeras long as makapasa ka sa training. Marami akong kilalang bumagsak kasi di ganon kagalingan sa english kahit may experience sa pinas. Sa hotel naman mostly housekeeping or kitchen ang tinatanggap nila. By the way sweldo ng call center ay mataas lang ng konti sa minimum.

There is a telus call centre sa Pinas.
A former co-worker works there and was sent to Toronto for training.

I know of a couple who works at a hotel/inn pero somewhere in Alberta  - the girl works at the resto and the guy at the kitchen. medyo madami rin sila kasama sa hotel who are pinoy.

Actually, depending on the company - there are those who give descent salary + benefits  to call centre agents- Amex Company for one. Hindi naman above min wage lang. Normally, regular full time call centre workers are not paid by the hour, but are salaried workers.

Dito mababa lang bigay sa call center kaya isa lang kilala kong call center agent dito pero aalis na rin after more than 10 yrs. karamihan ng bagong dating yun ang una nilang inaaplayan pero mga 2-3 yrs umaalis na rin.

Canadian companies kasi tend to outsource to other countries like India or the Phils. Even Manullife's call centre is in the Phils., but this company pays above min + benefits to regular employees.

Hi mga sis! Sino taga Metro Vancouver dito? Bigla na lang kaming napaisip ng asawa ko na magmove. Mga in 3-4 years time. My husband will definitely change careers. Ano ba ang madali makahanap ng work dyan? Iniisip ng asawa ko sa hospital but definitely not nurse or healthcare. Inisip nya taga operate ng xray or mri. basta technical. Saka anong magandang neighborhood sa suburbs. Hindi naming afford ang Vancouver.  Talaga bang normal ang 1 hour travel from home to work? Wala pa naman kaming kids pero how's daycare enlisting? Madali ba maka enlist or punuan din?

As for travel time, depende kung san ka nakatira at san work mo. I used to work at downtown vancouver.  my travel time from surrey on commute is around 1hr and 15mins (at most). By car, around 40mins.

 sis pag dating nyo dito, kung di makahanap ng work agad, magsign up ka ng volunteer work para sa canadian experience.

Yun sa daycare, madami naman sila. Yung iba mga home operations. Kelangan mo lang makahanap ng trustworthy na daycare.


Magandang neighborhood? Sa burnaby at new westminster o white rock.

Based nga sa research ko, White Rock is a good place to live. We are also looking into Surrey and Burnaby since we have friends and some distant relatives who live there.

Magmomove lang kami from Manitoba kaya sana ok naman makahanap ng work. Although if ever swertehin, sana eh maka request ako ng relocation sa current workplace ko pero yung nga sa downtown nga ang office namin sa Vancouver so concern ako sa travel time. Pero most people who work at downtown seem to be from the suburbs naman.
