Hi everyone,

I haven't visited GT in a long time ever since nag migrate ako dito sa Canada. Almost 2 years na ako dito and I have no regrets! Mahirap talaga sa simula pero konting tiis at tiyaga lang, magiging ok ka dito. Good luck to those who are applying and to those who are immigrants like me Here's to a more blessed 2013!

agree ako sa kanya na when it comes to migrating with families. if pwede iwan ang mga bata, iwan muna. kasi madali na kunin ang mga bata if stable na. unless your the kids are medyo matanda na. like sa case ni hubby. he was 21, his brother is 18 and his sister is 12 plus si MIL and [textspeak!]. when they came, at least alam nila na 3 agad sila na PWEDE magtrabaho and can bring income to the family. one couple i know naman, since bata pa yung kids nila. nauna na sila mag-asawa and took any job and eventually got their kids. tiis tiis talaga.

and funny, i also know 2 couples na mga 1 year pa lang sa canada, no matter how protected eh nabubuntis. hehe.

one thing that I can say though... sobrang mahal ng real estate dito sa Vancouver! grabe....  So, to whoever's moving to this side of Canada, please be prepared for this.

naku sis, we (me and my 3year old son) will be migrating this year to GP, Alberta pa naman. Although may job na hubby ko dun. but reading that post from lpbautista boards, parang napaisip tuloy ako. pero i think nasa tiyaga lang yan, tsaka tiis talaga. though, i will work there naman so salitan lang kami ng hubby ko sa pagbantay sa kiddo namin. sana makakaya.

^ I got an OFW sim card para kahit walang load, it still works here sa Canada. My friends and family can still text me there para Php1 lang for them. I reply with my Fido number... they have post paid packages for international texting na $50 a month lang at may data plan na yun for your viber and whatsapp applications, so talagang connected na connected kayo all the time!

sis khymmmm, you can buy 2 magic jack, send one to your bf for unlimited calls. for texting you can buy koodoo cellphone and get and unlimited texting (local and international) for $20 or $25 per month (if ever gusto mo kumuha nito you can send me your e-mail address and pag bibili ka na you can get $25 off from your cellphone).  you can also buy call cards sa mga chinese stores for $5 for 30 mins call.

ako i use magic jack and my family and i have koodoo cellphone pero i only use lang talaga the texting kaya ko sya binili kasi nga unlimited.

you can bring a roaming cellphone para you can receive [textspeak!] from family sa pinas for 1 peso lang.

Thanks again sis, so sa Canada na pala ako makakabili ng Koodo. Kelangan din ba ng Koodo ng family or bf ko dito sa Pinas or ako lang ang may Koodo.. Sorry sis ah, first time ko kasi na-encounter yang Koodo.

koodo is a telco in Canada just like smart. Virgin mobile also offers free unlimited international texting. any telco in the phils will be able to receive the text message you will send.

go to a mall since usually telcos have kiosk there. or go to best buy, futureshop, and even walmart and then inquire from there. meron silang brochure where you can check out the plans. if you dont have a cell phone yet, you can get from any provider then choose you plan. meron tinatwag na tab that some providers offer. you buy a phone with minimal cash out (some phone models have $0 cash out), then get a plan (yung iba 3yrs contract + $50 min plan) this usually includes data plan already. im somehow familiar with this [textspeak!] i work in the elctronics dept.

Here in Montreal, walang kwenta ang roaming ng globe! I also have an OFW sim card and my postpaid sim card. Nakakalungkot lang.

mga sis, nagtry na kayong magremit ng pera from canada to philippines? how and how much?

^ $10-14 ang rate ng padala usually. ewan ko lang sa ibang probinsya. you can do it via western union. may mga pnb, bdo, iremit dito. meron ding manila express. maraming way to send money sa pinas.
