my pups are currently on Hollis+ic for puppies but I really REALLY want to switch them to good/premuim dog food like ACANA ORIJEN CANIDAE GO NATURAL ect. but I cant find any dealers/stores near our area nakakafrustrate maghanap. I only want what's best for my fur babies. Nasa may molino bacoor area ako. help naman po kung may alam kayo na store na malapit sa area ko.

^Best not to buy grocery story brand dog food like Pedigree, Eukanuba, or Alpo, etc. The ingredients are very questionable.

When I used to feed my dogs kibble, they did very well on Go! Natural (any flavor would do) kibble and canned food. It was on the expensive side, but well worth the cost, as the ingredients used were human-grade, and they did not use grain.

^Baka hindi hiyang sa kanya Orijen. Switch to something else kung nag-scratch sya. You could check out Bow & Wow din for other brands.

Yung Go Nat I think was around P900+ a couple of years ago. I used to buy it from an online pet store based in Mandaluyong, pero parang wala na sila ngayon, di ko na makita ads nila sa Sulit. Both kibble and canned food Go Nat.

^^ yung una nyang dog food sis is yung alpo, kaso ayaw nya kainin, then nag holistic ako, kamot pa rin sya ng kamot, tas ngayon orijen, walang pagbabago pa rin..
  yung go nat sis ang mahal pala.. pero ma lelessen ba yung pagkakamot nila dun?

I've just started reading this thread and so far all the posts have been very helpful thank you mga sis!

My puppy (5mos) is right now on holistic. Napansin ko na mapoop siya more now than when he was on vitality. Baka nga dahil sa holistic yun. May nabasa ako sa earlier comments about pooping a lot because of holistic.

So now i might go back to vitality or try na magpremium.

medyo nagiging mapili daw talaga sila once we introduce table food to them, yan daw yung magiging risk sabi ng isang professional dog trainer I spoke to.

try mo sis na ihalo uli dog food sa table food to ease the transition. tapos experiment ka dun sa mga tasty na dog food para mas sure na makain nila.

Hi! Just want to share. I used to feed her Acana puppy till 1. One time nagsuka siya nung bago yung bag niya. Pero the vet said naman na parang hyperacidity ata. Pero I stopped buying it na. So I switched nlng to different brands such as
Go Nat and Royal Canine plus other grocery brands. E.g Pedigree and Eukanuba.

Then I bought the dog food brands mentioned in here. As in mag back read ako.

Beef Pro- Okay naman kaso pero minsan hindi inuubos.

Vitality- Okay also. Shinier coat nga ata plus she eats it. KASO bat ganon poop niya??? Medyo parang pale yellow and parang "sandy" ang texture. Bat kaya? Not firm.

Hollistic- Okay poop. But nag shed siya!!! I think she's allergic to lamb!

So ano pa ma recommend niyo?

haha sis, na-excite ka yata sa mga dog food! ang dami mo ng nasubukan. Question lang, have you given him those brands at least for about a month? May adjustment kasi eh. It looks like of the brands you've tried, promising ang Vitality kasi your dog eats it. The poop kasi usually isn't firm outright lalo na kapag nagbabago-bago ng food. Give it some time, like one month.

Medyo same tayo ng experience for my puppy that we've had for 3 months pa lang:
Beef pro - he barely ate it, quick switch ginawa ko kasi takot ako baka ma-undernourish pa
Hollistic - he likes this, tried it for a month, but he poops a lot tapos big ones, eh hindi naman siya big dog so medyo weird for me
Vitality - he likes this too, we've been feeding this to him for a month na rin

AT dahil sa holidays, we gave him some canned food, pero nag-iba-iba yung poop niya usually hindi nagfi-firm agad. Matakaw kasi so gusto niya lahat ng binigay namin: Cesar, Go, Valuemeal.

^Hello! Yes usually for a month naman or more kasi ang binili ko yung mga 2-3kg packs from Pet Express. Execpt dun sa Beef Pro. Kasi sa mga pet supply na de kilo ko nabili. Pero lahat yun, okay naman poop kahit nag iba iba dog food. Yung vitality lang hindi talaga.

Ano pala diffence ng Vitality value meal vs regular Vitality.  

Ah! Ceasar! Turkey na Ceasar fave yun ang shih tzu ko who passed away na.

My shih is a very picky eater. He's on beef pro now almost 1 yr na. I've tried holistic (too big for him and he doesn't like it at all), vitality, lamb & rice, eukanuba. He likes to have ulam on his dog food. Like cabbage, pechay, beans, & meat of course. 

The pet supplies store  in the neighborhood that I buy from don't carry these brands so I just choose from what they have available. I like them because you can buy any quantity you want and their products are kept in big plastic drum containers so they're free from insects/dust, also they're cheaper.

I want to try the more premium brand names out there but they come in big bags and I'm sure he'll just turn up his nose on it. May mga testers kaya for Go Nat, Acana, Royal Canin, etc. that you know of?

Few years ago, I have tried na different brands of kibbles for my pet. Kaso laging may issue, like redness of skin, shedding,  and/or always nagkakamot. Then other gtalkers suggest home cooking. Ngayon almost 1 and a half years na siguro kami sa home cook ng alaga ko. Walang redness of skin, walang shedding, bihira na magkamot, at best of all parang hindi na sya nangangamoy aso.

I usually boil chicken breast tapos haluan ko lang ng steamed squash and carrots, 1 batch is good for 1wk. Minsan chicken liver then lagyan ko ng few tablespoons ng rice. Yes, mas ma effort sya pero atleast you're sure na healthy yung pinapakain mo tska diba our pets deserve the best. I think mas suitable to sa mga nahihirapan makahanap ng magandang brand ng kibble para sa alaga nila. Goodluck sisters!

I have been feeding my dog beef pro because it's the only one he would eat from vitality, holistic, eukanuba, lamb and rice, and petone puppy. He was doing good on it - always firm stools and not so smelly. Kaya lang, I want to give him better alternative sana as all the previously mentioned dog food have corn and other grains. I bought him Acana pork, yung small bag lang. He doesn't like it - no surprise there. Mapili sya talaga. We gave him increments of 10grams per day mixed into his serving of beef pro until wala na beefpro nakahalo. Tomorrow will be the first day pure acana na lang ang food nya. His stools are not as firm as sa beef pro but may form pa den naman kaya lang mas malambot kesa dati. The cost is almost 5x sa beef pro and around Ph33-35 per day ang cost ng food nya. It will take some time to see if there will be improvements on his skin and weight. I'm crossing my fingers na he'll do well on this brand.

Update:
It's been a month since nag start kami ng Acana. Observations ko lang, mejo malalaki ang kibbles (para sa shih tzu). Interested naman kanin ng dog namin pero recently, tinatamad sya kumain kasi natitigasan siguro so "sinasabawan" namin ng hot water and ibabad sandali para mas madali para sa kanya nguyain.

Pork and Fish variant yung ni-try namin. Yung fish (Pacifica) smells strongly like bagoong hehe so if you don't like that smell, get the other ones. They have duck and lamb. I have tester packs of those but di pa namin naopen since we have both pacifica and pork pa. I'll update na lang when we do test them.

Poop-wise, dark colored, firm and not so smelly.

One thing I've also observed is mas shiny and di na dry yung hair nya compared sa dati nya food.

And since mejo pricy ang Acana, tinitimbang namin yung food nya per day for his level of activity, which is 60g for 5kg weight inactive dog.

We are on a Food Allergy Elimination Trial since last month, Acana Pacifica ang dry food, then we buy from Bow&Wow ng mga wet food na fish-based protein and grainfree. Nakakainis lang na di readily available ang mga dog food na fish ang main source ng protein.
