Hong Kong Guide (Thread 29)

^When I was in HKG a couple of weeks ago, I had all my FOUR kids with me so you can imagine all the luggage I had in tow (but I'm quite proud of myself for getting all their stuff fit into one suitcase and 1ea trolley for me n hubby )...my 3 older kids have been to Disney a number of times before and are used to plane travel (they're 8, 7 and 4 yo) but it was my youngest's 1st trip (2yo). Our pacing was slow and since they still had warm weather, much as I would love to take them to more places, next time na lang ulit HKG lagi ko pang break-in sa plane travel for all my kids kasi. Also, I forced my husband to go through regular immigrations procedure even if he's a holder of the frequent traveller card. I learned from another HKG trip last year when hubby and I cleared immig separately that it's not fun doing airport procedures with a sleeping toddler in a stroller, whom you have to disturb when you need to pass through x-ray and get on the terminal train that isn't level with the ground AND you're in a hurry. LOL.

Don't worry, I know the feeling. I started planning and getting ready for our HKG trip last June when my kids and I got back from the US. With all the emailing back and forth, it's nice we mommies get to cover all bases wayyy before we travel, right? Nice if you're travelling in March. Cool weather pa.

nakapag book na ako ng ticket namin for hongkong next year... may 12-15 ang schedule namin... Im still waiting for my friend's confirmation kung pwede kami sa flat nila... kung hindi, hotel na lang kami. Kaya for the mean time research research muna ako dito. First question, kamusta po ang weather sa Hongkong pag May??? Maulan po ba or mainit??? Just want to be ready kasi may kasama kaming bata at  senior citizen. hehe

^sis melmedrano, Tama lang weather in hk pag may. You won't need a jacket during daytime. Pag gabi naman minsan malamig pero carry lang. May araw lang na maulan.

^I was there on a March trip before but it was 2010 pa, on an overnight trip. I brought a jacket with me but it was a sunny day. Just right (was expecting it to be chilly pa but it wasn't). To think my hubby and I immediately went to Ngong Ping 360 after arriving from the flight and checking into the hotel. He was all like, "So, where to?". I replied," Let's go, NOW." LOL...we didn't even get too near the base of the Buddha cos there was a lot of construction going on back then. So, we just took the mandatory shots (hehe) and he said, "don't even think of going up the steps or else no one's gonna fly the plane back to MNL tomorrow." Bad knees. Tsk tsk. Hahah...but with world weather nowadays, you really can't tell na, diba? Sometimes it's hot, sometimes cold on days that they're not supposed to be.

thanks sis... buti naman kasi ayoko mag dala ng maraming damit... puro lalaki ang kasama ko... father, husband and son... kaya ako lang talaga incharge sa pag empake ng gamit... Hehe!

so, usual clothes na lang dadalhin ko, then magdala na lang siguro ako ng folding umbrella at mag suot kami ng light jacket lahat just incase na magkaroon ng changes.

next naman na question ko is ano po kayang hotel ang recommended nyo na pag stay-an namin kung oceanpark ang primary na gusto naming puntahan... Skip kami sa HKDisneyland, pang december 2013 pa namin yun eh. Hehe! :-)

Sis baka 'di muna kami mag Disney Hotel kasi medyo hectic yong sched dahil 3 days lang kami. From Airport  Disney na agad kami tapos 2nd day Ocean Park (whole day) 3rd day Ngongping & Citygate. Pag nag stay pa kami don baka di rin namin masyado ma enjoy kasi most of the time nasa labas lang kami. Hopefully pagbalik namin mas matagal kami don

Sis mukhang mas maganda yang desisyon mo. I suggest na pag mag disney hotel ilaan yung araw na pwede masulit yung hotel like swimming, walk around and spot the characters sa lobby, eat for those with free meals.

Sis examiner30, what time niyo nachempuhan si cinderella sa lobby ng disneyland hotel? Napapaisip tuloy ako kung breakfast or dinner buffet ang iaavail namin sa enchanted garden. Pag dinner kasi baka walang mga disney princesses sa lobby eh yun pa naman favorite ng daughter ko. Inggit ako sa kingdom club room. 3 nights kasi kami eh kaya super mahal pag mag kingdom club kami. Hehe.  Thanks sis. 

Sis nag buffet kami ng 9:30-11:00 AM yung round 2 ng breakfast then si cinderella mga 12:00NN namin sya nakita.Konti din yung tao sa lobby kaya nagtagal talaga makipag usap si Cinderella sa mga nagpapapic.

^thanks sis! Kakaexcite naman.  punta nalang kami ng morning sa lobby ng disneyland hotel para mag abang ng mga princesses. I've been to hk disneyland thrice already but i never got a chance to take a pic with the princesses. Di ko machempuhan eh. Thanks sis.

When i went to HK, nag papalit kame sa BPI main branch sa Ayala Ave; mag papareserve ka sa umaga, tell them how much gusto mo ipapalit then sa hapon you pick up your money. Eto yung website ng BPI forex:

Hindi naman mahirap mag papalit ng Peso to HKD dun, lalo na pag nasa TST area ka. Basta sa city ka mag papalit - huwag sa airport

^^sis ms.orange17, mas ok kung bumili ka na dito ng HKD para pagdating don wala ka ng iintindihin. dati sa BPI din ako bumibili, mas convenient pero last time sa czarina forex ako bumili. tumawag lang ako para magpareserve & pick up sa glorietta 5.

^^i agree, kami din as per my MIL's advice, we'll bring enough hkd na to cover for the expenses sa food, transpo, tickets etc...the rest will be in usd naman which is for shopping lang..para at least, di daw kami mastress maghanap ng money changer at magpapalit pa pag kelangan namin ng hkd, sayang din kasi sa time yun...and pag shopping naman, some stores accept usd din ata or if not, credit card na lang

Sis yapeegurl, thanks sa reply. Mura ba sya don, gusto ko kasi yung jet set grab bag na style nya... Meron akong nakita sa ebay pero hinde ko mabili baka bonggang charge ang gawin ng custom sa ishiship na product, sa US kasi yung mashiship. Thanks!

^thanks for the info sis. But the promo is only up to december 2012. Our hk trip will be in march 2013 pa. They don't have new promos yet. Maybe i would just have to wait to get discount coupons. I'm just so excited to plan this whole trip because it will be my daughter's first time to travel. I want it to be extra special. Thanks so much sis.
