Additional question sis rae. Medyo malalim yung skin sa eye area ko. will tretinoin help in thickening the skin in that area para hindi magmukhang masyadong lubog? Thanks again.  :)

kcuenca, I don't use a specific eye cream. My morning routine now is wash with a very gentle cleanser like physiogel or cetaphil in the AM. My recent moisturization 'strategy' is, before troubling about adding moisture to my skin, I should not strip it of moisture first. Tapos, sunblock (currently, Olay Regenerist Superestructure SPF 30)

around 3x to 4x a week ako magtret sa buong face, kasama na eyes.

^ There's no straight answer to that, some skin is more tolerant than others talaga. Madami lang ang hindi nakaka-tolerate sa tret when used everyday sa simula. Kaya as a conservative approach and as most derms and long-time users would advise, a few times a week muna and move up until your skin can tolerate it.

Sis wicked na try mo na ba yung retin a which are available in mercury drug sa eye area? Na search ko kasi sa net na pwede yung retin a  (US brand yata sya na kailangan ng prescription and different sa otc retin a sa mercury drug) sa eye area according to doctors. Eto yung link sis http://www.realself.com/question/safe-retin-eyes . Hindi ko kasi sure kung the same lang yung ingredients ng retin a nila sa local retin a natin. Thanks.

I've used the local retin-a before pero sa face lang. Like sis rae, I think ok lang to use tret in your area. As with my usual advice, go slow na lang to limit irritation. I've read din na mas better pa ang tret than any other commercial anti-aging eye creams, yun lang, you'll have to deal with the dryness when you first use it. What I usually do is that when I've finished applying tret to my face, I pat whatever's remaining in my hands sa eye area, that way very little lang ang na-aapply ko and when I put on moisutirzer a few minutes later, I do the same.

I'm using tret (.25%) din for undereye from my derma. After maubos yung small tub, switch na ko to .50% for lifetime na. She advised me na pwede ko rin sya apply sa side ng lips to prevent laugh lines.

@kcuenca, I won't be able to tell, but in my case I think the skin around that area became thicker. Anyway, here's one of my favorite blog entries on tretinoin.

He used it for a year tapos he wrote his experiences about it: http://inhumanexperiment.blogspot.com/2010/11/tretinoin-results-after-year-experiment.html

@Hannie Swayne, yes

Pag no breakout, purging  and peeling means hinde effective ang tretinoin brand ? Or hiyang ang ibig sabihin? If its not effective do i have to switch to other brands? Or change to higher dosage of tretinoin ?

@crazycoolchic, No peeling or purging doesnt mean it's not working.

It could just mean that your skin can tolerate it. Maybe your exposure to acids already made your skin more tolerant. I dont know though.

No purging might mean, you have nothing to purge.

Anyway, some people don't flake until later. :)

Be thankful, some people wait a while until the peeling stops. And some would give anything just so their skin can tolerate tretinoin :p

^@crazycoolchic, with tret results and side effects, parang walang straight answers.
 some experience flaking for months and months, some sandali lang.

It will really depend on your skin, there's now way to know until you're actually experiencing it.

What you can do now is to learn about how you will handle the situation when it comes. To decide if you'll stop for a while, or buffer it with moisturizer. It will depende on your strategy too.
