HELP: My kid is Muslim, but I'm sending him to a "Catholic" school

@xlammer, I find your post very enlightening since I work with a number of Muslims. A bit off topic: What is a du'a?

thanks jonduh! du'a is a personal supplication after the usual recitation of surahs or ayahs. for example, the opening prayer is an arabic surah (i.e. chapter in the Qu'ran) or ayah (i.e. verse of a chapter in the Qur'an), and then afterwards, we can make our personal supplication, anything goes yun, parang conversation with God.

How old is your kid sis? Kasi di maiiwasan na gumaya ang bata sa mga nakikita nya, though excused sya sa mga prayers and other christian subjects, if his classmates are Christians, he might get some infos/words that are used in Christian and ordinary schools. I know someone's child na very cautious ang mismong bata about dos and donts as a Muslim. Kahit gano kasi natin ilayo ang bata sa Christian ways, makaka adopt talaga sila kasi we live in a Christian country. Siguro sis someday your kid will understand your religion and sya na mismo ang makakaalam what is good/bad for him.

If your child is still in the prep I guess better move him to a non-sectarian as others here suggest. It will only bring him confusion, that might result to bigger problems. If he would be segregated during performance of Catholic acts such as prayers before and after class or the regular mass activities while the rest are there all together, he might think na outcast sya kaya sya hinihiwalay and the same might signal a negative remarks from his classmates. There are many other non-sectarian private schools.
the Catholic schools cannot be blamed for teaching the faith because it is a standard in all Catholic schools that they educate people under the light of Catholic faith and the education department acknowledged such. Kung baga there is always a Caveat that if you go to a Catholic or Christian school they will teach the faith as part of curriculum. 

Siguro pag high school onwards pwede na sya sa ganun school at least nauunawaan n nya.

I remember I have classmate na Muslim nung grade 3 ako. Hindi naman siya inobligahan to join catholic prayers and of course kapag may mass she is not even obliged to take communion. Though she is not excuse of not wearing gala uniform. She is attending mass but of course she is not following the rituals.

My husband and I are both Muslim Filipinos who were raised here in QC and parts of our adolescent years abroad. I finished my elementary in SHS QC and remember being the only muslim in roughly 160 students, same story with my husband. Safe to say we have committed to memory and know more Catholic tradition and practices than we do with our own religion because of the environment we were exposed to from young.
As a parent to a three year old boy, I now worry he will inevitably struggle with the same imbalance. It is quite unfortunate that decades later in Metro Manila there still is a scarce of muslim or non sectarian schools. I am looking at either JASMS or NOTRE, where my husband went to and experienced first hand an inclusive and holistic education. It is a real challenge for us Muslims residing in the Metro to raise our family in an environment where we continue to be the minority. From shortage of mosques to finding Halal dining experience or buying halal goods, within our own community we are also determined by groups ie maranaos, tausug, maguindanaoan.
I personally do not fit perfectly in any of these categories and I am hoping to find and meet like-minded Muslim families here
