Hi girls! I need your inputs. I've been into make-up lately and I've been having practice sessions using affordable drugstore brands muna. Won't be discussing the first 2 tries since it was a disaster! ;D

On my latest attempt, I used the following (after cleanse-tone-moisturize with Celeteque products):
1. ELF mineral infused primer, L'Oreal True Match Liquid foundation with SPF 17
2. BYS concealer for highlighting and ELF highlighter/bronzer duo for shading
3. in2it powder blush
4. Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer
5. Nichido eyeshadow (can't remember the palette, basta yung nude/beige/brown something, hehe)
6. Majorlica Majorca lash king
7. in2it brow powder
8. L'Oreal matte lipstick (fairy touch)

Tools: I used Etude House dual fiber brush as a stippling brush for my foundation- don't like this brush at all! For the highlighting, I used Jazzy "foundation brush"- hirap mag-blend. In the end, I just used my fingers. For the shading, I use Marionnaud angled brush- I love this brush! A great steal! For my eyeshadow make-up, I just used the "concealer brush" from the Jazzy set as my flat eyeshadow brush and the angled eyeshadow brush from the same set for contouring the eyes. I used lip brush din as I've observed that my lipstick lasts longer if I apply it using a lip brush.

When viewed from a mirror, I'm happy with the outcome. Not bad for a 3rd or 4th attempt! ;D I so love contouring! When viewed close-up, ayan na: (1) cakey ang finish (2) my pores appear larger (3) BYS concealer settled on my undereyes. When I took a selfie with flash, hay naku, tragic: (1) White cast! (2) Nawala ang contouring (3) Nawala ang blush. In short, maputing face lang with kind of pink lips. Pangit! Hahaha!

What could have happened kaya? I've read here na the higher the SPF= white cast on flash photography. As for the disappearing "contour" and blush, kailangan ko ba kapalan talaga or dito na papasok yung mga "high-definition" blush, etc. (whatever that means, hehe)? One thing for sure-- I really need to invest on good brushes!

Thanks in advance! :)

I've been watching tutorials in youtube and as what I've saw and learned, inuuna primer/base then liquid foundation then conceal then powder then eye shadows, eye liner then lipsticks!

Madeline, here are my suggestions:

- choose an spf free foundation. Hd labeled ones are the most photogenic
- contour with a matte product. Elf bronzers are shimmery and will show up whitish in photos. Besides, bronzers don't serve the best purpose for contouring.
- skip the primer. Imo, they are just a waste. Use water based mousturizers instead. I like to use a moisting spray if I'm in a hurry. It gives the healthy dewy look
- invest in brushes. Dampen the brushes for easier application
- read ingredients and know the compatibility between water based, silicone based and wax/oil based products

qt_ben17: Thanks sis for the suggestions/inputs.  :-*

I think na-address ko na yung problem with white cast from L'oreal. I used to stipple the foundation kasi with a bad brush kaya makapal ang pagkakalagay ko. Presently, I just apply and blend the foundation initially with my fingers then blend it further with Marionnaud premium foundation brush. I'll go around 2-3 layers of L'Oreal so I won't be needing concealer na. When I took my picture, ok na, no more white cast.  ;)

I checked nga yung thread about bronzer. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil ata yung matte na bronzer. Will look for that.  :)

How about HD blushes? Recommended ninyo ba din yun para mag-register yung blush sa photos? Parang ELF lang yung drugstore brand na nakita kong may HD blush e.

Sige, di ko muna i-prioritize ang pagbili ng high-end primer. I was eyeing pa naman yung Smashbox Porefessional, Shu Uemura UV Underbase or yung Mac Prep and Prime. Hehe.

Noted about the brushes. Mas priority ko actually to buy brushes rather than high-end make-up brands.  ;D I'll also pay particular attention to the ingredients of make-up products! :)

It looks cakey kasi makapal ka mag-apply ng foundation, tapos nanga ata in itself yung loreal na ginagamit mo.

^Sorry, di ko nakuha yung last part ng post.  :)

With the recent technique that I'm using to apply L'oreal, di na siya cakey.  ;)The same amount of foundie was used on both stippling and finger/foundation brush and it only looks cakey on the former. So most probably, the culprit would be the uneven distribution of the foundie on my face. The BYS concealer that I actually used for highlighting made it even more cakey.  :P I'd better look for a matte bronzer, good highlighter and concealer! :) Eyeing Too Faced Chocolate Soleil for bronzer and Naturactor for highlighter/concealer.  ;)

I went to Rustan's earlier and checked Laura Mercier and Nars highlighter. Laura Mercier

http://www.lauramercier.com/store/shop/Blush_Matte%20Radiance%20Baked%20Powder%20_prod960001

and
Nars Gold

I can't find the pic in the net.  But puro shimmer lang siya.

I bought Laura Mercier.

Yung Nars Laguna balikan ko.  Parang same lang kasi dun sa Revlon Medium ko e. Mahal din kapag sabay sabay

Caroline, for budget- wet n wild gel liner
Drugstore -maybelline lasting drama gel liner
Dept store - mac blacktrack gel
Pro - makeup forever aqua creamliner

Shelflife has always been an issue with cream or gel type liners.they tend to get budgy or drier as time goes

At least in my experience yan ang m ga okay. Not sure if available sa phils yan

^^ yes you can use brush. But mas okay ang sponge/puff kasi mas naseset yun that way. For the powdery look, use a facial spray like evian or distilled water and put it in an atomizer. May mga special sprays like UD all nighter or model in a bottle or mac fix+ whose sole purpose is to set the makeup and remove the powdery look.

Or much easier use the sponge and make it damp tapos press mo sa face to remove the powdery look.

Skin prob ko, I know (hope so haha) na malelessen ng makeup to

1. I have oily t zone.
Prob ko talaga nose ko since oily, hindi mukhang fresh Lol. Okay na kaya concealer, tapos foundation. Solve na ba prob ko? Pawisin din kasi ako, kaya maya't maya nagpupunas ng mukha

Products planning to use:
Concealer- Shawill
Foundation- Two way cake foundation (milk)
*Application: Brush or sponge?

2. Dark circles
*Same products

3. Dark Lips
I use ChapStick, no improvements sa color. Natural look ba ang matte lipstick? I'm eyeing sa elf mate lipstick.

4. Blush
Looking for cheap natural looking and long lasting blush. Careline Oil control blush ba ay okay?

Skin condition: Oily sa tzone, normal na sa iba. Pero pawisin talaga ako kaya maya't maya nagpupunas ng mukha. Nakapagsearch na ko sa google, threads, and youtube to familiarize with quality products :)

Sorry for the long post.

Start with skin care, sis. Since you mentioned na oily ka sa t-zone, you may want to try using water-based or gel moisturizers such as Celeteque, iWhite Aqua Moisturizing, Neutrogena Hydroboost, Clinique DDMG, Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. But based on the products you mentioned, I assume you're looking for very affordable products so you may want to check out those from Celetque and iWhite. Once your skin is well-hydrated, the oil glands won't work double time and will no longer produce that much oil. Then comes the makeup.
