Hi Doc Lelet, question po, common naman ho ba yung may MMRV vaccine pero nagkaron pa rin ng chickenpox?

^ Mas common na magkaroon pa rin ng chicken pox if 1 dose of varicella vaccine ang naibigay compared to if 2 doses na ang naibigay.
Several years ago kasi, 1 dose lang talaga ang required for varicella vaccine in kids 1 to 12 years of age, but post surveillance studies showed that a lot of kids still developed chickenpox after getting 1 dose kaya dinagdagan ng 2nd dose at 4 to 6 years of age.
Pero kahit naka 2 doses na ng MMRV or the mono-varicella vaccine, pwede pa rin magkachicken pox. Milder nga lang and lesser chance of complications compared to kung walang vaccine na naibigay.

yung officemate ng BFF ko, naging autistic daw yung baby after ng MMR vaccine.

^ paanong naging autistic? right after the vaccine? bakit doon agad sa vaccine sinisi?

turning 4 na ang son ko next month, nagpaturok kame ng MMRV before sya mag 2yo, okay naman sya. walang side effects.

^^ Baka naman lumabas ang signs or red flags of ASD (or it could be that the parents did not notice or were in denial prior to that) after the MMR vaccine.  If you are a keen observer kasi, you will notice the signs or red flags of autism soon after your child turns a year old.

As a responsible parent, I had my children vaccinated.  Hindi lang kami kasi as a family ang maapektuhan kung sakaling magkasakit ang mga anak ko.  I thought of the consequences to the society as well. 

With the measles outbreak very recently, I was able to affirm na tama ang ginawa kong decision as a parent.

As parents, let's make informed, well thought out and responsible decisions concerning the health of our children.

m_lim, i used to be afraid of the MMR vaccine also as my pamangkin had speech delay before and seems that we can't determine the cause and maybe partially put a blame on the vaccine. but then i let my son take it. he took it at 14months din yata. at 2yo he is now speaking in 2-4word sentences. he can communicate well and i must say that it didnt affect him at all. it is us, the parents and the people surrounding the children who must make effort to communicate with our kids. as what a teacher told us, all of what we do will leave an imprint to a child's mind. so the more you talk to your children, the more language he or she acquires. we enrolled him in playschools and exposed him to different activities that can help him learn more.

more learning experience = more imprinting = more language acquired

before kame magpavaccine ng MMRV / MMR, tinanong ko kay pedia kung nagccause to ng autism. kasi may balita neto before, diba. sabi naman ni pedia, hindi naman daw nanalo ang case at hindi ding totoong may connect. i trust my pedia kaya nagpavaccine pa rin kame.

Yup sis, I spoke with someone from WHO who is involved with the immunization program. Matagal na daw debunked yang link between MMR and autism. The problem din according to her ay lahat na maaaccess sa google, even posts na di naman true. Mas okay pa daw yung published studies sa reliable sources talaga. I asked for a copy of the said study about MMR para ma share ko din.

^ Were you able to ask if it was the doctor who made the correlation that it was the MMR vaccine that caused the autism or it was merely a conclusion made by the officemate due to what she has researched/told by friends/relatives, etc? Kasi I highly doubt that it was the doctor who said so since the MMR autism link has been debunked several times already by the medical society. Several studies have showed that the link made by Andrew Wakefield was false.

Anyway, this is a nice explanation as to the story behind the fraudulent study made by Andrew Wakefield:

In addition, there's a practical consideration.  When you apply to the big schools, the administration usually asks for the child's immunization schedule.  I am not sure though what the big schools do in the case of children of parents who take the "natural approach" and chose not to have their kids vaccinated.  May accompanying risk kasi for the other students (the majority, I think) who had their shots.

hanngang what age pwede idelay yun MMR?...medyo worry lang ako sa sinasabi na nakaka cause daw un autism...hndi ko naman sya totally hndi ipapainject plan ko lang sya medyo idelay ng kunti . pag dinelay ko yun ano shot po ba pwede ko muna unahain sa 1.5 yr old baby ko?

^if you've read the prior posts, the theory linking MMR vaccines to autism has been debunked. With the current measles outbreak I wouldn't think twice about giving the MMR to my child.

HepaB vaccine up to how many shots?

Hi advise please, done na with 1st shot and 2nd shot ng hepa b baby ko. brought my child two months ago to the health center only to find out that their 5in1 has hepab, they advised me that pwede up to 3 shots lang ng hepa b and that I should get 5in1 boosters sa private pedia na because walang hepab yung 5in1 sa private. Went to our pedia last month and sabi pwede naman 5in1 ulit sa healthcenter, ok lang ba talaga more than 4x yung hepaB shots?

^my baby has a total of 4 shots for hepaB, first at birth (day 1), 2nd dose when he was 2 months, 3rd dose at 4 months and 4th dose at 6 months.. nakasulat sa baby book din ni baby ay
A fourth dose is needed for the following:
- If the 3rd dose is given at age lass than 6 months
- If no birth dose is given using the EPI schedule of 6, 10, 14 weeks
- For preterms <2kg

There is no age restriction as to giving the MMR vaccine. Even adults can get vaccinated with MMR. Given the current measles outbreak nowadays, I wouldn't delay it too long. Also, as mentioned numerous times in this forum, studies have already shown that the MMR vaccine does not cause autism. Please read the latest link I posted. It explains why there really is no MMR autism link. Current studies point to prenatal stress as well as advanced paternal age as to the possible cause of autism.

Usually 3 to 4 doses ang recommended dose ng hepatitis B vaccine depending on the risk factors cited by lgf08 so tama ang pedia mo in saying pwede naman iavail ang 5 in 1 sa local health center.
