Hi doc lelet... thanks for your reply... my 7 year old has not been given his 2nd shot of MMR but i will in a few days as per his pedia's request... as for my little one, her pedia said she doesn't need to have an MMR shot and this puzzled me a little... i don't know why but i am thinking is it because my 10 month baby is fully breastfed or something else... again thanks...

hi doc lelet, ask ko lang po sana kung pwede ko pa ipa vaccine daughter ko ng MMR at Varicella at age 3 years old. first dose niya po ito kunsakali. Hep A naman po nakapag first shot siya sa recommended age kaya lang hindi ko na po nasundan sa 2nd dose. Pwede pa rin po kaya siya? Tia doc.

Make sure na lang that your baby is not exposed to large crowds or to anyone who is sick with fever, cough and colds. Since you are breastfeeding and your baby has received 1 dose of measles vaccine, your baby has some protection already to the measles virus.

Your 3 year old daughter can still get the 1st dose of the mmr and varicella vaccines as well as the 2nd dose of the hepatitis A vaccine. That is called catch up immunization.
Even adults can get the mmr, varicella and hepatitis a vaccines if they have not been vaccinated before.

For DPT, you need 3 primary doses and 2 boosters. First booster at 15 to 18 months of age and 2nd booster at 4 to 6 years old. Boosters are just as important as the primary immunization series and are given to ensure longer lasting immunity.

Doc Lelet, yung Rouvax single shot measles vaccine na binibigay sa babies na 9mos. okay lang ba ibigay ulit pag dating ng 1 year old and above na bata?

May mga parents kasi na katulad ko na ayaw ng MMR combination vaccine.

4mos na po ang baby ko at hindi ko siya napabakunahan ng rotavirus dahil first time mom at eengot-engot hehe  late ko na nalaman ang tungkol sa rotavirus  sa Health Center lang nagpapabakuna si baby at hindi naman nabanggit na may ganun pala.. kaya pa ba habulin 4mos and 2 weeks na si baby? Or ok lang naman kahit hindi na niya yun ma-avail?

If clear ang lungs and generally ok ang well being ng baby, no fever, then pwede ibigay ang measles vaccine. Please ask your pedia na lang regarding the price.

Two doses are needed for both the MMR and varicella vaccines.
1st dose - 12 to 15 months of age
2nd dose - 4 to 6 years of age
Please back read for more information regarding the 2 vaccines.

Rouvax may be given to kids more than 1 year of age.

You can not give the rotavirus vaccine anymore since your child is passed the recommended age limit for the 1st dose. As I mentioned before, there are very strict age recommendations with regards to the rotavirus vaccine because of previous history of increase cases of intussusception with the 1st rotavirus vaccine (rotashield) which was later on pulled out of the market.
What you can do now is to ensure that you practice good hygiene and sanitation so he doesn't get diarrhea.

Hello po Doc Let.

My baby will be turning 3 months this 29. Last Jan 15, nagpa vaccine po kami ng 1st dose of 5-in-1 sa center. My problem is, they don't have rotavirus and pcv vaccine. Hindi ko po tuloy alam kung kailan ko siya mapapa inject ng rota and pcv. Di ba po 1 month dapat pagitan? Tsaka sa feb 19 next vaccine niya sa center(No idea kung ano vaccine iaadminister ka LO).

Ano po kaya pwede kong sched for the 2 vaccines? Thanks!

Doc lelet follow up question. Meron ng Rouvax yung anak ko nung 9mos sya. I want to know kung pwede ba sya ibigay ulit as booster ngayong 3 years old na sya para ma protektahan against sa measles outbreak? Ayaw ko po kasi talaga sa MMR.

Yes, it may be given as 2nd dose. Same vaccine lang naman ang binibigay sa boosters or 2nd dose.
Please be reminded, though, that there are no more mono vaccines of mumps nor rubella.

Technically, yes, pwede pagsabayin ang PCV 13 and penta vaccine, but please be reminded that both vaccines can cause high grade fever so personally, I don't recommend it.

Please ask your pedia regarding scheduling of the rotavirus vaccine and the PCV. Please be reminded that if your baby doesn't get the rotavirus vaccine by the time she gets to be 14 weeks and 6 days, hindi na ito pwede ibigay because of potential side effects.
By the way, to mommies whose kids get their vaccines at the local health centers, it is also important to have a private pedia who can monitor your child's development. Dapat may monthly visit pa rin sa pedia kahit na sa center nagpapabakuna.

doc, ano po mas importante o dapat mauna?  meningococcal o typhoid?  para po sa 2yo baby.

It would depend on the child's risk factors. If there are a lot of typhoid resistant cases in your area and you buy food in neighborhood eateries or canteens, then typhoid vaccine should be given first. However, if there was a reported case of meningococcemia or other meningococcal infections like meningitis in your area, then you should prioritize giving the meningococcal vaccine first. I suggest you ask your pedia regarding her preference, too.

doc, ang sabi sa amin ni pedia kahit ano daw po mauna.  ako daw pumili.  pero typhoid na lang uunahin ko kasi minsan bumibili ako food malapit sa amin na karinderya para sa amin ni baby.  thank you po sa reply.

^ You're welcome. Better to give the typhoid vaccine first then since you buy food from neighborhood canteens.
