mmr yung last niya na shot dun.. walang booster at varicella..
kaya kakapa vaccine ko lang kay baby sa pedia ng varicella last week..
may HIB shot ba na binigay sa baby mo sa center? sa baby ko wala din, kaya
need niya pa yun..

bakit kaya yun center namin hindi comprehensive ang EPI program nila for immunizations. meron kaso kulang. they'll ask you to come back. pano yun schedule nun dosing?

sis how much yung varicella vacine niyo? sa pedia ko 2200 hanap sana ko mas mura. and yung HIB niya ang alam ko kasama sa 3 in 1 niya sa center eh.

^ 2k yung varicella sa pedia ni baby.. sa iba na napagtanungan ko 2.5k pa nga..

Since she is already 2 years old, she needs only 1 dose of the Hib vaccine. Not 4 doses.

@yang:
The rotavirus vaccine is now part of the Expanded immunization program so it should be given free at the local health center. I am not sure lang what brand they give there.

 QQ nawala ko yung baby's book nandun yung sched for up coming vaccine niya. 3rd dose na ng PCV nya last october pero naconfine siya so di ko mun apina vaccine okey lang po pa to have his 3rd shot ngayong 8 months na siya? Yung MMR feeling ko naka-sched yun sooner, ano nga po month start MMR? Thank sissies

Doc Lelet, I read today that a 1-year-old girl recently died of meningococemia in a Marikina hospital. I looked up the vaccine for it, and found out that it's recommended for 11 years of age. Why is this so? What can we do to protect smaller children?

hi doc leletmd, ask ko lang, my baby's 6.5mos old. she got her 3rd dose of 5-in-1 vaccine last Oct 1 sa center, which is okay naman sa pedia niya. Just now, nakapa kong may maliit pang bukol yung tinurukang area sa kanya. Would hot compress remove it? Out of town pa kasi pedia niya til next week so nagwoworry ako. TIA

You can still have the 3rd dose of PCV given at 8 months or later. Kahit late na, what is more important is that she is able to complete all the required doses for adequate protection.
The 1st dose of the MMR vaccine is recommended to be given at 12 to 15 months of age while the 2nd dose is given at 4 to 6 years of age. Measles vaccine is recommended to be given at 6 to 9 months of age.

Best to ask your pedia regarding price of hexa vaccine since there are a lot of factors that determine pricing.

There are now 2 types of meningococcal vaccine available in the market:
a. Meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine
This type of vaccine has been around longer, but can only be given to kids 2 years old and above since the polysaccharide vaccine cannot be recognized by the immune system of kids below 2 years of age. Immunity is also not long lasting. Protection would only last for 3 to 5 years.

b. Meningococcal conjugate vaccine
A newer version of the meningococcal vaccine. The Menactra vaccine can be given to kids 9 months and above. If given below 2 years of age, 2 doses are required to be given, at least 3 months apart. If more than 2 years of age, only 1 dose is required.
The conjugate vaccine is recognizable by the immune system of a child below 2 years of age because of the added adjuvant vaccine (same principle as with the Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine). It also provides longer lasting immunity.
Recently, Menveo vaccine has been approved by the CDC to be given to kids at high risk of getting meningococcal infections starting at 2 months of age with a 3 dose every 2 months schedule.
Here in the Philippines, the meningococcal vaccine is still an optional vaccine, but if you like to travel or live in areas with reported cases of meningococcemia, it would be best to have your child vaccinated. Please ask your pedia for scheduling if it still hasn't been given to your child.

Nodules are a common side effect of the 5 in 1 vaccine. No need to worry about it since it is just a collection of antibodies on the injection site. It would resolve on its' own but you can also apply warm compress to speed up the process.

^Thanks, Doc Lelet! I checked my child's medical book, and she was given polysaccharide meningococcal A+C almost 4 years ago. I hope good pa yun for another year.

how should i approach the pedia? i mean.. pano ko sasabihin na 1dose na lang dapat,
yun kase yung last na sinabe niya nung nag pa vaccine ng varicella si baby last time..
na need niya pa 4 doses ng HIB..

Thanks doc lelet! Nakakaworry kasi di naman sya nasasaktan pag ginagalaw ko, so akala ko permanent na yun.

Doc leletmd. regarding po sa varicella ang immunity po  ba na makukuha ni baby is good for how many months lang and then after that may chance na magkaroon pa din sya ng chickenfox, di ko po kasi alam kung papavaccine ko si baby tight budget kasi kami ngayon. if ever hindi ko po sya ipavaccine ok lang po ba? and yung pcv pang 4th shot na nya dapat din hanggang kelan po ba pwede ihabol yun? 1yr and 1mo. na po sya. thanks po doc. godbless

sis allura so yun anak mo hndi mo pinabakunahan ng MMR?...aside sa MMR ano pa yun mga vaccines na hdi mo pinainject?...
yun varicella vaccine din ba may issue din ba dun? or just the MMR?

Prior to all this I had my child vaccinate almost 9 months worth of scheduled poison then I stop from there.  Buti na lang walang symptoms na lumabas.   

Nung tinanong ko yung pedia ko sa cardinal naku! naka cross arm agad at napipikon pagusapan ang possibility na may serious side effect ang mga ito and at that time naguumpisa pa lang ako magresearch at akala ko yung mmr, pertussis, HPV lang ang delicado yun pala lahat ng vaccine.   Nagmalaki pa nga yung doctorate degree niya at mga plaque of recognition  sa pagattend ng medical conference sa America with so many scientific studies blah blah.....yada yada.....finally, I had enough I just quietly walked out.   

Alam mo this doctor isn't really bad except just don't discuss about vaccine dangers as a possibility.  naku kapag ibang magulang yan bumigay na yan sa discussion at nagpatuloy parin mag-pa injection.     Months after reading those articles and research including testimonies they advise that I should had just avoided this discussion with them because vaccine is pediatricians bread and butter so there is no way they would acknowledge that as even a possibility (hanap buhay lang talaga) and second, a lot of them don't really know about this in a deeper sense and they just parrot what they had been trained to say regarding this topic.
