Pwedeng pwede pa humabol sa mga vaccines ang anak mo. There is no deadline to giving the MMR or the booster vaccines. Sa rotavirus vaccines lang may deadline sa pagbigay ng 1st and 3rd dose.

MMR and varicella vaccines are both live vaccines so dapat may 4 week interval sa susunod na vaccine. Thus, for me, hindi pa dapat ibigay ang flu vaccine this week. Ask na lang your pedia if it is ok with her to give the flu vaccine this week since she may have a different opinion.
As to transporting the vaccine, it has to be placed in a cold storage bag, but not sa freezer as freezing the vaccine may destroy the contents.

Thanks again Doc leletmd, ang dilemma ko kasi nabaha yung baby book ng son ko so di ko na maremember. Pwede ba sya umulit ng MMR and hep B shots?

Your pedia opted to use 6 in 1 all through out your baby's primary immunization series kaya nabigay ang 3rd dose of hepatitis B at 3 months of age. If the 3rd dose of the 6 in 1 will be given in April, kulang pa rin yun for the 6th month mark so your best option is to have the 6 in 1 used for his booster at 15 to 18 months of age, instead of just the 5 in 1 para may booster dose din ang hepatitis B.
If the 3rd dose of the hepatitis B vaccine is given before 6 months from the 1st dose, a booster dose is needed since studies show there is poor antibody production if the 3rd dose is given early.

Please ask your pedia for a copy of your baby's immunization record so you would know if he was given MMR or not.
During situations wherein the parents cannot recall if certain shots were given or records are lost and cannot be obtained, the best option is to give the necessary shots.

Sorry for not back reading first mga sis. kaso i dont have the time .. sinalu muna ni sis ko si baby para maka type ako a bit.. my baby just had his DPT. OPV Hepa B and Roterex today (he's 6 weeks na) -- ok pa siya when we got home from the barangay health centre this morning. pero bigla siyang nag iiyak starting around 2pm. hanggang ngayon... is it because of the vaccines? hay ano kaya pwede namin gawin to appease what he is feeling. para kasing may masakit. panay tuloy hikbi (if he is not wailing) nakaka iyak

^ take your baby's temp sis. If its above 37.4 degress, posible nag-react sya sa vaccine.

The only immediate thing I can advice is to put hot compress sa place na binakunahan para kumalat yung gamot, baka kasi makapal yung gamot kaya masakit. Just keep your baby comfy or kargahin na muna.

You may ask your pedia regarding paracetamol (tempra) intake. Sa amin kasi yun ang recommended but as I am not a doctor, di ko yan ipapagawa muna sayo. Better consult a professional when a baby has to take medicine for pain. May required dosage kasi.

yes sis, tamang mainit lang para sa baby ha, hindi yung nakakapaso. para kumalat yung gamot. yan ang bilin lagi ng pedia ko sa amin every vaccine time ni baby.

Kahapon nag 5in1 si baby eh si mama ang pinasama ko kay yaya magpacheckup sinabi ng pedia na isabay na yung hepa3..Ayan 1st time nilagnat si louisse ko..nakakaawa yung iyak niya  .

Parang nagsusumbong sakin, kapag niyayakap ko tumitigil siya ayaw magpababa..

my pedia also recommended warm compress at the injection site to help ease the pain.

I also ask her which vaccines may cause fever and give calpol as soon as we arrive home. She also advises which are the "painful" injections. I recall that the hep-b is the painful one.

I also do not give my baby a bath the afternoon after her injection - punas lang with warm water.

I hope your baby is better now. Among the vaccines given by the local health center, it is the whole cell DPT that may cause fever and irritability/incessant crying. The presence of this side effect and the occurrence of convulsions with whole cell DPT is the reason why the acellular DPT was developed.
Hepatitis B vaccine is a very viscous vaccine. Thus, it is also quite painful but it does not cause irritability or incessant crying.
Please mention this reaction to the health professionals giving the vaccines at the health center so that they can give you better advise next time. You may also opt to switch to the acellular DaPT vaccine, which is part of the 4 in 1, 5 in 1 and 6 in 1 vaccines. There is lesser chance of this side effect occurring with the acellular DPT.
If persistent pa rin ang irritability and incessant crying niya until now, you have to bring him to the ER.
I would suggest ice compress on the area of the injection to prevent swelling and to decrease pain. No offense to your pedias, sis daveigh and khrisee, but eto kasi ang turo sa amin sa med school and sa residency training. The reason behind not using warm compress during the 1st 24 hours is to prevent vasodilation or pag bukas ng mga ugat which would lead to more swelling. Rehab med doctors also suggest doing ice compress for the 1st 24 hours on vaccination sites and areas with lumps such as bukol from falls, etc. After the 1st 24 hours, warm compress naman.
No offense to khrisee, but as a medical professional, I would have to say na hindi bawal paliguan ang bata na kakabakuna lang. Actually, kahit na may lagnat, ubo, sipon, etc., hindi bawal paliguan.

^ none taken doc lelet. ive read na rin sa internet sites na cold compress na muna before hot. i think its because my doc is the old school type. but its ok, my son naman is tolerable even with all the vaccines he took. no fever whatsoever. luckily.

none taken doc lelet, as a practice if my daughter has a cold or cough I don't give her the afternoon bath anymore (she takes 2 baths a day). She has really thick hair that takes a long time to dry so I skip the second bath of the day.

There are really times that doctors have differing opinions. That is why mahalaga rin for us to explain the reason for our management.
Suggestion lang din sa mga parents who have their babies vaccinated at the health center, perhaps, you can also look for a regular pedia for your babies. Sa mga health centers kasi na alam ko, it is not the doctor who gives the vaccines, but rather the midwife or the nurses so walang masyadong check up na nagagawa and hindi rin masyadong na-eexplain ang mga side effects, reason for the vaccination, etc. Pwede naman pabakuna sa health center, then have regular monthly check up with your pedia.
By the way, for the 1st year of life, it is recommended na monthly ang check up ng baby kahit walang vaccine na naka-sked...

question ko lang doc lelet just to clarify. hindi ba pag cold compress eh magiipon yung gamot sa area ng vaccine? hindi ba lalong sasakit yun? hindi ba dapat mas sa pasa ang cold compress?

^ Vaccines are given via the intramuscular route, subcutaneous route or the oral route and never through the intravenous or intravascular route (blood vessel route) so sorry, medyo confused lang ako, saan dapat magpunta ang vaccine?
After vaccination kasi, the vaccine will automatically spread out through the tissue and signal the immune system to make antibodies from the vaccination or injection site. Like for the oral rota vaccines, nasisignal ang Gut lymphoid system to make antibodies.
Hindi advisable ang warm compress kaagad kasi it will just lead to dilation of the surrounding blood vessels in the injection area, leading to more pain. Yes, same principle for bruises, bukols, etc.

thanks for the replies, sis daveigh, khriseeee and doc lelet. was able to go to my pedia na. she gave baby tempra for the fever. tapos cold compress daw to the injected area.

at 1st ayaw niya palagay nya ng cold compress until mga 11 tonight medyo ok na siya sa compress but he still cries from time to time. am i right to assume na pag parang nag spre - spead ang bakuna tyaka niya na fe feel yung sakit? kasi my lull moments din siya. kapag nakaka tulog tapos iiyak uli. hay awa na talaga ako, ok na kaya siya bukas. si hubby awang awa na kay baby.. ayun karga karga niya ngayon
