Hindi pwedeng magswitch ng brand with the rotavirus vaccine since the 2 brands available differ in number of strains as well as number of doses needed.
Ideally also hindi dapat magpalit ng brand ng 5 in 1 since there are also minor differences between the brands.
Regarding PCV, there are cases wherein pwede siyang idelay, depending on the health status of your baby. The number of doses decreases if the 1st dose is given beyond 6 months of age. Pwede din naman ibigay siya alternate with the 5 in 1 series. Hindi rin pwede mag-swtich ng brand with PCV since they differ in the number of strains as well as the type of conjugate vaccine used.

Depends on what he has completed so far.
If up to date ang immunizations niya, then aside from getting his annual flu vaccine then next vaccines should be given at 4 to 6 years old:
2nd dose of MMR
2nd dose of chickenpox vaccine
2nd booster of DPT and polio

Hindi considered booster ang sa MMR and chickenpox vaccines kasi the doses to be given at 4 to 6 years old is still part of the primary immunization series and needed to stimulate antibody response.

^ ^ Thanks for the response doc. So, at 4 pa pala yung DPT and polio. Yung booster shot po ba ng DPT and Polio same lang din dun sa binigay na shot sa kanya nung baby pa siya?

Naka 2 shots of measles po siya pero hindi MMR. Pwede pa ba siya for MMR and Chicken pox vaccine? And kung papa vaccine ko po siya ngayon, need pa ulit when he turns 4?

You can delay it for a few months, but please bear in mind, that the longer you delay it, your baby remains at risk for pneumococcal infections. Mas magastos magpagamot compared to vaccination.

^ I suggest you ask your pedia also if it is ok to delay giving the PCV kasi it would depend on your family history and your baby's own medical history if pwede idelay ng konti ang pagbigay.
I also suggest having your 3 year old son vaccinated with PCV. It is a very important vaccine since it not only protects against pneumonia, it also protects against otitis media, meningitis, etc. One dose na lang naman ang kailangan ng son mo since he is more than 2 years of age na.

Same lang ang daPT and polio booster sa binigay before. Nabigyan ba siya ng 1st booster at 1 1/2 years of age? If yes, then 2nd booster na ang susunod at 4 years of age. If hindi naibigay ang 1st booster and only the 3 primary doses were given, then pwede ibigay ang 1st booster now then 2nd booster na lang pag4 years old na siya.
Dapat pa rin mabigyan ng MMR vaccine ang baby mo since measles vaccine lang ang naibigay sa kanya. Pati na ang chickenpox vaccine kung hindi pa siya nabigyan nito.
If bibigyan siya ngayon ng MMR and chickenpox vaccines, considered as 1st dose ito since this is the 1st time he is receiving it. The 2nd dose will be given when he turns 4 years old.

^ Thank you doc lelet. Yes po, nabigyan na siya ng 1st dose of daPT and polio booster. I spoke to his pedia yesterday and may na miss out pala kaming 2 doses of vaccines. He had his 1st shot of Hepa A last August 2011 (24months) and HIB Booster last September 2011 (25 months). Is it ok po ba na this month ko ibigay yung Hepa A? Or kailangan ulitin yung 1st shot kasi sobrang tagal ng interval? Also with HIB po, 3rd/last shot was given last september 2011. Is it ok to give the booster shot this year? Wala naman po ba kaso yun?

^ No need to repeat the 1st dose for Hepatitis A vaccine. You can just have him vaccinated with the 2nd dose as catch up immunization. Valid pa rin yung 1st dose kahit na matagal ang interval.
Same with Hib. You can still have him complete his immunization series kahit Sept 2011 pa naibigay yung 3rd dose. Catch up immunization lang ang dapat gawin.

Depends on the lung findings. If clear ang lungs and ok ang well being ng baby, ok lang ibigay ang PCV. Your pedia is still the best person to decide whether or not, it would be ok to give the vaccine or not.

As far as I know, pandemrix is not available here and I have not heard of any cases of narcolepsy from any of the flu vaccines we use here.
The difference between pandemrix and the other flu vaccines is that pandemrix has an added adjuvant that is said to boost the immune response even with just using a small dose of the virus. The addition of the adjuvant is said to be the reason behind the increase in narcolepsy cases as well as the possible genetic factor.
Like what they mentioned in the article, I believe that this connection (investigating genetic link and the adjuvant used) needs to be investigated since we do not want to have a repeat of the falsely made MMR - autism connection. Interestingly, they mentioned in the article that nobody wants to be another "Wakefield". Dr. Wakefield was the one who falsified data that started the MMR-autism connection...

Sad, that because of the falsified study of Dr. Andrew Wakefield, so many people are going against vaccinating their children, even after, so many vaccination courts in the US and in the UK have proven these allegations false. As I mentioned before, Dr. Wakefield has even been stripped of his license to practice in the UK after having been found guilty of falsifying data to prove the MMR - autism link. His original study has also been removed from the archives of the Lancet.
Before vaccines are produced, it goes through several phases of trial and even after release in the market, there are post license surveillance studies. Thus, recommendations and reviews are constantly being made by the CDC and the ACIP and the pediatric societies all over the world.

Hi doc lelet, im a 1st time mom of a 5week old.
I noticed na halos every month na ang vaccine ni baby & looking at the immunization chart.

We are considering to go overseas with my husband but im a bit hesitant kasi gusto ko sana makuha nya muna yung mga importanteng vaccines. When is the best kaya? Im thinking of 7mos nya uuwi naman kasi kami on his 1st bday.

@doc lelet, my 2.5mo old baby has completed 2 Hepa vaccines. Is he still susceptible to the Hepa b virus? I'm asking cause we just found out yesterday that our around househelp has the virus. She tested positive for hbsag. We jusy had our pedia checkup last Monday, now I'm so paranoid I wanna go back and ask for lab tests for my baby..
