Hi mga sis, may kilala ba kayong lactation consultant or someone who can help me breastfeed my baby? I'm 1 week postpartum and my baby won't latch on me. He was confined sa NICU kasi so nagformula na siya dun sa hospital eh gusto ko pa din siya ibreastfeed ngayon na nakalabas na siya from the hospital...

i feel sad that my baby did not gain weight vs last month. i feel like may nagbago sa suckling nya, it's not as strong anymore. @7months, he is still 7.3kgs (same as last month). nalulungkot lang talaga ako.

ako din, il share your sadness sis, kasi wala na ata ko milk kasi lagi naiiyak si baby wala ata nakukuha, di na rin sumasakit breasts ko, umiinom na nga ako ng natalac and drink lots of fluid. why kaya? i also feel na sumasakit na puson ko, parang magkakaron nako.. im sad kasi gusto ko pa naman breastfeed si baby atleast a year old sha.. he's 5 months old ..pano ko kaya mababalik yung malakas na milk flow? i always direct feed naman..

^this is so confusing. dami nagsasabi may lalabas at lalabas na gatas as long as mag direct feed ka. bakit yung iba wala? ano kayang pwedeng dahilan?

^^^^once baby starts to get active hihina talaga ang weight gain nila and this phase normally starts from 6mos onwards.

^^just because hindi na sumasakit ang boobs doesnt mean na walang milk na lumalabas. please enough of the motion na porque nawawala na engorgement e wala nang milk. once your milk supply stabilizes you really won't get engorged as much as before as time goes.

^YES may lalabas as long as you direct feed and given that the latch is correct also. hindi totoong walang lumalabas

Perhaps others think walang lumalabas na mature milk kasi naman sa umpisa eh colostrum ang lalabas at hindi siya kamukha ng milk.

sabi nga ni hubby sa akin. super likot na daw ni baby. nagtaka lang ako kasi kung kelan naman may solids na, saka naman walang weight gain si baby.  pansin ko lang din kasi parang hindi na yun yung suckling na ginagawa nya dati. ewan ko ba, or im just being paranoid much.

This might be OT here, I'm not sure. Pero I dunno rin kasi where to post this to ask and also to react... I'm part of an FB forum of moms and meron lang don post that bothered me, specifically pediatricians selling formula milk...

Pwede ba yun? Hindi ba kasama sa milk code na bawal yun or something? Parang conflict of interest lang kasi eh. I mean again, its the mom's decision to breastfeed or formula feed IMO pero parang di tama that Pedia's sell formula milk kasi shempre in case a mom (especially new ones) na nahihirapan or walang support system or kulang sa info or whatever reason, mas maniniwala sya sa notion na better or ok ang formula milk especially if makikita nya na si pedia mismo ang nag-se-sell. Tapos may discount pa if they get from the pedia...

Sorry bothered talaga ako.

^tama ka sis. kasi nung first baby ko yung ospital mismo ngpainom ng formula agad. hindi man lang ako tinanong kung gusto ko ba magpa-BF. eh di pa ako nakapagresearch nun kaya di ko din alam na may colostrum ako na just enough for a newborns needs during their first few days. kaya this time prepared na ako sana maging successful.

yes sis cldy_1981, i think violation yan ng existing milk code. honestly, hindi ko rin alam kung saan pwede magreport but i think pwede macontact si atty. jenny ong  regarding that. maybe she can help.

im ebf and my pedia supports that pero she sells formula according to my staff (same pedia ang babies namin) though she is not insisting that mommies give formula to their babies. much motivation is given to my staff pero di nya talaga kaya mag BF. lack of commitment din i guess. kaya the pedia prescribed the formula (premature pa naman ang baby kaya pedia encouraged her to continue, yung staff ko ang ayaw na). she told me that she is buying formula from our pedia daw and cheaper than in supermarkets.  in a way it has helped her (budget wise)

i'm not sure if there is clear stipulation on the milk code na bawal ang selling from pedia. private practice na kasi nila yun, di na sakop ng accreditation of the hospital.

Di ba upright position ang pwede? Pero nasasamid pa rin... Malakas nga flow ng milk ko kasi sumisirit. Pero kahit middle part ng feeding nasasamid pa rin..

Yun nga sis, parang weird na mas mura sa Pedia... parang the milk companies are targetting doctors/pedia kasi alam nila na mas may influence kasi parang expert. I am totally not against the idea of formula feeding kung yun yung decision ng mom pero sa fact na doctor ang nag-bebenta parang yun nga conflict of interest?!

Everytime I hear stories of my fellow mommies sa work who stopped breastfeeding before going back to work for reasons such as wala ng milk or ayaw na dumede ng baby nila sa kanila, parang nasasad ako. The culprit for most of them is supplementing with formula when their baby is still young, as in one month pa lang. If they had just read how breastfeeding works and also if they had strong support group, they could make it work. Kaya ayun naaamaze sila when they ask me what's my baby's milk and I tell them na breastmilk.

when can i skip pumping during the day and just direct feed my baby at night? can i get away with that without supplementing with formula? my baby is 9 months old and eats well. its just that my work is really busy and pumping is very difficult...

If you want to succeed at breastfeeding, you should know who to listen to and who to ignore. My in-laws are not fans of breastfeeding. They tell me almost daily to switch to formula so my baby will grow fast. I've been breastfeeding for 5 months already. Ngayon pa ba Ko titigil?

I almost gave up during her growth spurts thinking I didn't have enough milk. My MIL had no confidence in my small breasts 'Baka Walang lumalabas' and when her daughter with big breasts is holding D, 'Yan! Diyan ka dumede maraming gatas yan!'

thank God I read kellymom's site. Must read when you begin to doubt yourself. I had trangkaso and Hindi siya nahawa. My sister had chicken pox and Hindi din siya nahawa. breastfeeding is the best talaga for our babies.
