^^How much milk does your baby drink? In my case, my 4 mo. old baby drinks 160ml at least every 4 hours. She sleeps through the night and I wake her up only once for feeding.

*I feed her formula and breast milk. To help her sleep at night, I breastfeed her even though she had formula prior.

^^possible kasi your son is going thru a growth spurt hence more feedings. If it is any consolation, my almost 2yo son woke up 6x last night for nursing. And to think he had a heavy dinner with matching dessert. Are you co-sleeping? Personally this makes things easier for me. On nights that my son sleeps with the yaya, we have less restful sleep Kahit he nurses less at night. if we co-sleep, I just lift up y shrt and let him nurse

sis cldy, my baby feeds like every 2-3hrs at night kasi he takes in just 12-16oz when i'm out. ewan but nasanay na ako. we cosleep kaya keri lang. may times na comfort feeding galore. mas happy nga ang feeding kokay baby at night coz' di siya distracted.

^sorry ha mommy but ill say this again and again, hindi dahil "mahimbing" ang tulog ng bata pag nag formula means nabusog cya and hindi dahil iyak ng iyak ang baby ah hour or 2 hours after you breastfeed him eh hindi enough ang gatas na nakukuha nya. please back read. your baby had a nipple confusion dahil binigyan nyo ng bottle. ang newborn po normal lang na iyak ng iyak and there are a lot of reasons why babies cry as this is their only way of communicating.

i will emphasize on this over and over specially for soon to be moms, equip yourself with the basics of breastfeeding if you REALLY want to successfully breastfeed your baby. magbasa ng online references, check breastfeeding seminars/workshops available at your nearby hospital/clinic. kahit nung andyan ako sa manila i saw a breastfeeding workshop. GT is also a good reference but don't rely on GT alone. there are a lot of breastfeeding blogs nowadays as well. take advantage of that.

^^Once you give formula, you are going to the point of no return.  It may give you a false sense of security in the sense that the baby seems to sleep better and appears to be fuller.  Wrong notion!  The baby's immature digestive system is working twice as hard to break down casein and other components of the formula because formula is made from cow's milk and the human body cannot digest it easily, unlike human milk. On the other hand, breastmilk is easily digested by the baby's body and therefore, you really have to nurse more often if you are breastfeeding.

Now if you are serious about breastfeeding, work harder on your latch.  Do not wait for the baby to cry before you offer your breast because that's a sign that baby is super hungry already.

Breastfeeding makes you more attuned to your baby because you look out for hunger cues other than crying.  Whereas, formula feeding seems so easy ano? However, if you take the latter route, you are not doing yourself or your baby a favor.  You are just making it easy to transition to bottle and formula feeding.

Thanks hunny_ally... medyo I got bothered kasi that we're still not sleeping through the night, not really for me but also for my baby... baka kasi he's not getting as much sleep as he needs to. I don't think that its growth spurt though kasi we've been like this for the last 2 weeks, hehe, antagal naman ng growth spurt nato. My husband thinks he might be going through another milestone kaya ganyan kami ulit. We went through kasi a time when he would just wake up twice on sched pa kaya parang na-bother na naman ako that he's waking up more than before. And yes he sleeps with us, actually our son sleeps in between me & my husband kaya lang di namin magawa side-lying kaya talagang I need to be fully awake pag feedings since I have to sit up.

My baby naman consumes in between 16-22 oz depending on his mood & what I've managed to pump from the day before when I'm out and at the office. Kasi after mga 7 mins (yes I time his feedings, para ma-check ko lang on average :)) tulog na then gigising ulit after 2-3 hours minsan nga after 1 1/2 hrs lang to feed. And usually when he wakes up at 4am or 5am wala ng tulugan, actually dun ako nahihirapan din kasi tuloy tuloy nako nyan to prepare to go to work.

^baka sis alam niya lang kasi na papasok ka na kaya medyo nagfe-feed siya ng husto. si baby ko naman nagigising na din kapag tatayo na ako. no matter how careful i am na huwag niya maramdaman na mawawala na ako sa tabi niya, parang walang epekto. my also refused side lying na kaya sa dibdib ko nalang siya while nursing then i just fall down to sleep. i just prop with pillows (a lot) para hindi delikado.

mommies what is your usual diet to boost/maintain high prod of milk...i am struggling now dahil paubos na avocado which is my number one milk booster. so ang gawa ko na lang now is

breakfast-oatmeal, bread or banana plus coffee (after ko magpump or direct feed)
snacks-milk or buko juice plus sandwich
lately nadiscover ko carrots okay din so carrots w/ mayo
          avocado
lunch-laging may sabaw, malunggay or green leafy veggies
snacks-oatmeal or carrots plus buko juice again
          avocado smoothie
dinner-sabaw again plus lots of fruits in season
midnight snacks-nakaka2 glasses of milk ako before hitting the sack or 2 glasses ng natirang soup
         plus carrots again lately

I take 2 natalac pa...almost 5 months na si baby and pansin ko down to 10oz na lang napupump ko kaya in between direct feeding kami.

^10 oz output in between feeding is decent if not good. I never pumped that much in one sitting. Don't get so paranoid with the amount since your output is not a good indication if your baby is getting enough or not

^sis its for the whole 8-10hrs na, 3 sessions of pumping would give me a total of 10oz only. I do a lot of errands outside and works at home too kaya need ko talaga ng pumped milk.I really really hope my milk would last more than a year hence; am doing all I can or eating all I can rather lols.

^aside from continuous direct feeding to boost your supply, try pumping more during the wee hours of the morning. when i was still pumping i usually pump at around 3-6am. try to drink soya milk also :)

when baby starts to eat solids, how much do you need to pump? or feed? same ba? nag increase? or nag decrease ang milk intake?

Soy milk masarap yan! will also try that.

^basta anything with soy. ang madalas sa diet ko aside from soy milk is tofu, broccoli (tho for some babies it can make them gassy daw but sa baby ko wala naman), spinach, taho/beancurd, oatmeal/muesli.

Mga sis help, what will i do baby is having a nipple confusion na.
Ano kaya gagawin ko to win her back?

http://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/child/back-to-breast/

^check this link, helpful tips. :) ilang beses ko na rin napost tong link since this helped me a lot on putting my baby back to breast.

basta:

1.) offer your breast at the first sign of hunger and at times when he/she's sleepy
2.) let your baby find your breast and not you persistently putting your breast to your baby's mouth, mas lalo siyang nafrufrustrate and baka magakaroon na siya ng aversion sa breast mo.
3.) the best- skin to skin contact at mom's chest. :)

hope this helps!

my baby also feeds on me a lot during the night (4-5x), pag dating ng 3 am, halos every hour gusto nakadikit sa boobs ko. tapos she'll wake up at around 5 am. kaya parang 3 am pa lang gising na ako palagi. :D kaya what I do kapag natulog na siya around 8pm, sleep na rin ako. and minsan pag off ko, pag natulog siya sa hapon, sleep din ako.

ayaw ni pedia, mag hypoallergenic diet daw ako kasi may parang rashes si kate. i stopped oatmeal and taho and medyo nawala nga....

^ako din, i was advised to take care of my diet and refrain if not eliminate common allergens. i have observed naman na talagang may effect ang dairy kay baby. kahapon he was cranky and paubo ubo daw, eh yung milk niya nun yung day na kumaen ako ng ice cream. konti lang naman, like half cup. so sad, talagang iwas dairy talaga dapat. first time niya din na hindi nagpoops but nakapagpoops na kaninang umaga.

btw, for those moms who have started solids na, what month did you give water and how much? kulet kasi ng mama ko, bigyan ko na daw ng water si baby kasi nagstart na magsolids. sabi ko, bm is ~90% water naman so kahit hindi muna. saka ang hina na nga ng milk consumption niya, hahaluan ko pa ng water. :(
