@rikki21 sis you have an annual regular premium. let's say your choosen payment mode is quarterly and you paid ahead of you due, as long as you have not paid your annual due it is still treated as advance payment for the year which consist of your insurance, investment and other charges. If you paid for the whole year and pay another quarter before your anniversary date it will be treated as a top-up.

in addition to what lusciousfoxy12 said - if you've paid for the whole year then pay for another quarter before your anniversary date, that will be considered as top up. however, if you pay for another quarter within 30 days of your anniversary date -- that can be considered as payment for the upcoming quarter, instead of a top-up.

^How would the client know? Is there a spreadsheet or something showing the breakdown of payment (if top up or advance payment)?

Why wouldn't the client know?

If the client pays 20k on say Sep 15 2014
representing the client's annual premium
then decides to pay 5k on Jul 15 2015
(i.e. before the anniversary date) then
the 5k is considered a top-up.

If the client decides to pay 5k on Aug 15 2015
(i.e. 30 days before anniversary date) then
it will be considered as payment for the up
coming quarter.

Did I miss something?

thanks for all the replies! well, i guess i was charged with top up. what i did kasi was pay for my annual premium last January2014, in full amount. then last month, since may extra money ako, I paid half of my premium for year 2015. my agent didnt tell me about top up charges or anything, I asked him if okay lang ba mag advance and he said okay lang, at least naka pasok na sa premium yung money and i will not be tempted to use the money for other non sense things.
maybe next time i will have extra money is put it on mutual fund or stocks market.
just to clarify things, my payment scheme is quarterly and my anniversary is January 15. if i pay full amount of the annual premium within 30 days before the anniversary, that will be considered as payment for the upcoming quarter.

Does Sunlife charge additional if from quarterly payment eh mag annual payments ako? instead of giving 12,500 4x eh mag one time payment ako ng 50k per year?

@mameejhy

you mean if the client can't keep track of his/her payments?
Then the client can use Sunlife's Online portal to check
if a quarterly payment has been made.

@rikki, you just said you paid your 2014 annual in full
so yeah, there's no extra charge.

^ rikki21, yup you can notify your agent also na  you wish to make your payments annually instead of quarterly. that way, you receive your notice once na lang before your policy anniversary.

Its not much of an insurance product though.
Its more of an investment product.

25% lang ng 100k ang magiging insurance nya
or 25k. Pang kape lang yun kung may
nangyari  :P

SPVUL(Single Pay VUL) have a minimum death benefit
of 125% of the premium or 125k seeing that you will
be investing 100k

SPVUL is great if the insured also has a term life insurance or a limited pay vul (or whatever kind of insurance).

hi sisses! i just got a sun flexilink and i would like to express my disappointment with my agent. i got my policy contract 3 weeks ago and i was so upset to see that the attachments included in the contract included 2 documents where my signatures were forged. i called the attention of my agent and demanded that they change the attachment so that the attachments will bear my true signatures and she promised that she will retrieve my policy on aug 27 and that she will ask me to sign original documents. august 27 came and i heard nothing from the agent. last monday i followed up again and i got so furious with her message telling me that they will just refund the amount i paid if i dont want to accept the contract. i dont want to surrender my policy and refund because an agent told me that if ever i returned my contract, i will have difficulty of getting a new plan since it might be questionable on their part that i surrendered and later get a new plan. i told her that i want to correct my signatures for my protection since in the future someone might copy my signatures again and avail benefits. i said i will just go straight to sunlife to report what happened and ask for a replacement and that i dont want to deal with her anymore.
if you were in my shoes, would you also ask for a replacement or just accept the contract containing the forged signatures?
how does sunlife deal with this kind of situation? how will they handle their agent? much as i want to protect the agent, i am also concerned about my own welfare. also, the agent seems to be concern only with her commission totally disregarding her client's welfare. mukang nagmadali kaya d na pinapirmahan sa akin yung mga documents.
your comments sisses please on this... thanks.

^i was lead to believe that my beneficiaries will get atleast a million if ever something happens to me.. and also sabi sakin pede daw ako magdagdag ng money anytime if i want to. kaya ko kasi mas pinili yun flexilink1 (100k premium) is para one time big time lang ang bayad ko sa insurance.. para kasing mahirap yun may quarterly or monthly na binabayaran..atleast if ever may extra money ako ulit tsaka lang ako magdadag kung gusto ko. and i thought mas ok un flexilink1 kesa mag time deposit ako sa bank. so now i'm having second thoughts na..

Sis Maycon, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Nakakarelate ako sa 'yo sis.. But yours is worse to the point na naforge yung signatures mo. Sa akin naman, my agent from Sunlife is not accommodating and not responding to my text messages. I got so furious kaya pinull-out ko yung investment ko, good thing hindi pa talaga nagtatagal yung contract and I can withdraw the money.

I transferred my funds w/ another insurance company where I am greatly satisfied honestly.

If your situation happens to me, I will not accept the contract na.  YOu have to work w/ your financial consultant as long as he/she is with the company and you dont opt to change your adviser., he/she would have to assist you and help you out, pero sa action na yan, like your signatures were forged, na-address dapat yan w/ the Insurance company and they will have corrective actions against the agent, I just had my training and got licensed by the Insurance Commission kaya alam ko din yung do's and donts. Pwede ma-revoke ang license niya dyan sa nangyare.  I understand the fact that you are protecting that agent, ang laki nga naman ng mawawala sa kanya. It's still your decision sis if you will accept it or not. Hope this helps.

Sis Maycon sorry to hear that! Wala man lang apology from your agent? She could have gotten back to you and request for another appointment para mapirmahan mo yung mga un and pass your application the next day nalang. Madali lang naman sana yung solution, bakit minadali. Pwedeng madeny yung beneficiaries mo in case Sunlife contests. My bf is a SL agent and studies law, he said before na parang hindi ata allowed ng Sunlife or IC na mag-sign yung client outside the country kasi dito lang applicable yung contract -- imagine what more kung forged yung signatures mo baka madeny yung mga beneficiaries mo.

So 3 weeks na yung policy mo? 15 days lang kasi ata yung parang grace period nila for full refund and I think surrender talaga yung gagawin if you'll not accept your contract (not sure). Have you tried calling Sunlife's customer support?

If I were you di ako papayag na magsettle na lang and accept that forged contract. I'll go directly to Sunlife (call them or go to your agents branch) and notify them about your situation. I think you can even go to Insurance Commission and have her license revoked (worst case). But please whatever your final decision is, make sure na alam ng company that she represents -- who knows baka madami na siyang clients na same situation as you.

This is true. Valid lang ang license kasi namen here in the country same with the contract.
