--sa 51th year ko, nag decide ako mag withdraw, ano ang computation?
--sa 51th year, hindi nako naghulog then at age 60, nag decide ako i-withdraw, magkano makukuha?

@m_lim and choco_loka

you're welcome

@m_lim

VULs don't work that way.
That's why the illustration/proposal shows you what your
fund value would be assuming a 4%, 8% and 10% return.

Your return depends on the fund you decide to invest on
and that fund's performance.

@Ma.Jewel,your answer to m_lim is wrong. Please check your documentation again.

Also your answer to choco_loka is technically correct, but again the premium
payment frequency doesn't really have an impact aside from how frequent
you get your premium notice.

I pay online twice a month or I can even pay once a week if I wanted to.

@m_lim, its not 10 years. VUL policies has no set paying period
as long as your fund value is enough to absorb the charges.

With that said, there is a limit on how long you can pay
the premiums for.

Flexilink: up to age 88
Maxilink: merong 10 years and 5 years

^Pasesnya na Madam tao lang nagkakamali din, minimum of 15 years pala ito sis m_lim, yung maxilink ang 10 years

Flexilink has a 15 year minimum paying period?
Did your agent tell you that?

I'm looking at the contract and it doesn't say that
and as far as I know, no matter which VUL you're
looking at. They all have no minimum paying period.
As long as your fund value has enough then you're
good.

As per agent:

The policy is payable up to 18 years or until you reach 45 y.o
You may change the number of paying years but not less than 15 years bec. this product is intended to pay for at least 15 years

You must be talking about Maxilink?
I have Flexilink's contract and it doesn't say that.

Baka tulad lang yan sa payment frequency,
you can technically only choose quarterly,semi-annual
or annual pero for all intents and purposes, you can
pay any time you want.

No flexilink daw yan, kasi when I said na ang haba maxado kahit minimum of 15 years tsaka nya inoffer ang maxilink sakin which is payable daw ng 10 years naman. Wala pa naman akong pinipirmahang contract pero yan ang kasagutan nya sa mga katanungan ko.

They might have changed the terms and conditions?

Pero I've been told from numerous agents with
different insurance companies na if an insurance
company decides to change the terms and conditions,
they normally just retire the current product and offer
a new one with the amended terms and conditions.

So, I'm not sure why you're agent gave you that
answer.

Baka recommended lang yung 15 years?   ;D

215% of your annual premium spread out over 10 years
plus the COI(Cost of Insurance) which depends on your
age and the face amount.

ex, for a 20 year old its like 1.5x per 1,000
so 1M would mean a COI of 1.5k+

sa flexilink, you pay the premium while you are still living or until age 88. walang minimum number of years. now, if the agent says to you 18 years ang "suggestion/recommendation/assumption" for payable years, its not guaranteed kasi assumption lang nila yon na after x number of years self-sustaining na ang VUL. kung naman hindi maging self-sustaining, ibig sabihin nagkulang ang funds pambayad ng premium over time (ex. 18 years ka nagbayad tapos 10 years after naubos ang fund ng VUL), magbabayad ka pa din ng premium. so akala mo lang hindi ka nagbabayad pero ang totoo kinukuha lang nila sa fund yung bayad mo. i should know because i'm a sunlife agent. i hope all agents would be transparent about this kasi nalilito ang mga clients pag ganyan.

If you're just talking about Sunlife Mutual Funds vs investing
in another EQUIVALENT fund, then you can do much worse
than Sunlife. You're fine.

I've had Sunlife Mutual Funds for nearly 6 years but I'm
redeeming my investment as they go past the 5 year mark.
(Naka backend option kasi ako so I have to wait 5 years
before I can redeem without any charges)

Sunlife is one of the worst performers AMONG THE FUNDS
I MONITOR(Not among all funds).

But my personal investing experience shows that Sunlife
Equity is in 2nd place out of 6 equity funds.
(Note that the fact that I've stop adding more money
into Sunlife Equity since Dec 2010.. and that was when
the market was just recovering from the 2008 financial
crisis. i.e. the price was still low. Compare to my other
funds whose average price is higher due to them being
acquired just recently).

Its nothing personal against Sunlife's mutual funds.
I just don't like mutual funds in general.
They have higher fees and longer holding periods
compared to UITFs.

Question for sis BB who is also a sunlife agent: is it true that may additional charges pag nag top up or pay in advance sa SUnlife Maxilink Prime? mine is quarterly payments, currently on my 2nd year but paid ko na yung half ng 3rd year payment ko. I didnt know na may  charges pag nag advance payment, I just thought na much better sya at least na invest na ng maaga.

No, that "scheme" your referring to only applies to mutual funds
where you can either pay the fee upfront or not pay it but
promise to keep it invested for at least 5 years.

VULs like Maxilink have premium charges which are charged
from the premium and monthly periodic and COI(cost of insurance
charges) which are deducted from the fund value.
