For me naman, more on protection ang tingin ko sa kanya..

I think critical illness is needed especially if there is a history of cancer, stroke etc in the family. Yun Sunlife vul ni hubby ay Accidental Death ang rider at balak ko kumuha ng another maybe from Prulife naman na may critical illness rider kasi yun mom nya ang cause of death ay cancer (at dad ng mom nya). Mabuti na yun prepared.

Just remember though that when it says
critical illness it really means critical, as in
konti nlang terminal na haha

Ex, sa cancer, as long as in situ pa sya
(I read the definitions and googled it and
had it confirmed by my agent who's wife
is a doctor)

hindi sya covered. Eto yung stage na
pwedeng tanggalin [textspeak!] ang cancerous
cells. Kung invasive na ang cancer, dun
palang sya covered.

But Axa and Pru now has a critical illness
product which also covers some early stages
of an illness but its very very expensive.

For the premium, I don't think its worth it.
Mas ok pang i save nlang ang premium.

^Really? Sabi naman sa akin ng Philam and Sunlife, basta once na-diagnose ka with one of those illnesses, kahit nasa early stage pa lang, you can already claim from your insurance. I know you have Manulife, so maybe it varies from company to company?

I'm afraid it applies to everyone.
Believe me, I checked with all insurers
who has a critical illness product.

There were some "ignorant" agents who I then
asked if they had a copy of the contract and to
tell me what it says, sure enough they were just
ignorant of the medical definitions.

Even Angioplasty is excluded but its supposed
to fall under coronary bypass. I've read kasi
that Angioplasty is relatively simple daw.

Incidentally, that's one of the minor illnesses
covered by AXA's new product.

In fact, if you google critical illness insurance there
seems to be a lot of grief from policyholders where
they thought they were covered but turns out hindi pala
dahil may strict definition.

^Ay, ganun? I specifically asked that sa insurance agents eh, if "critical" illness really means critical, and yun nga yung sinagot sa akin. I will also clarify. But you have critical illness insurance; would you rather have the rider removed and save the premium yourself?

The premiums are barely 2.5k so its very cheap and no
I won't terminate this rider.

When I went to get critical illness, I was especially concerned
about cancer and getting physically disabled.

However, getting disability insurance means getting covered
for disabilities due to accidents only.

Thru this critical illness rider, I get coverage disability cover
both thru injury and disease.

The cancer is a bust though. No one covers carcinoma in situ
well unless you're willing to pay the much higher... so much higher
premiums. And again, in my opinion, so totally not worth it.
Too expensive and the benefit is underwhelming.

Yun sa Prulife thay have a rider na you could advance/ get (?) the money during early detection period ng cancer...

Yes, but only 250k out of the 1M though.
And if it finally reaches the advanced stages
you get the leftover.
So they share the same 1M.

But I don't have a copy of the contract
so I'm just going by the proposal.

It says it covers early stage cancer.

Kahit sa critical illness proposal you usually
see that it excludes skin cancer, but no word
about it also excluding in situ cancer.

Pero on Axa's proposal, it specifically cites
that it covers carcinoma in situ/early stage cancer <- verbatim yan
galing sa proposal.

PERO it doesn't have a blanket coverage..
Kasi it states specific types of cancer.
All of them related to reproductive organs lol
I just noticed it when I looked at the proposal again.
Its all breast,prostrate,cervix,ovary

So if its like lung cancer, you're out of luck.

Plus Axa's benefit is only 200k of 1M and
you can only claim the minor benefit twice.

So, still not worth it. I'd just rather save up.

Thanks mameejhy and mxherr5..

mxherr5 are you referring to Health Max of Axa? May binigay nga sa aking proposal for that, di ko pa nakakausap yung agent and hindi ko pa rin narereview (mas may time pa ako magbasa ng mga replies dito  ;D) , annual premium is almost 28K.. Then i have Assure for 35K naman with critical illness din...

Question po sa mga Sunlife policy holder.

Kakukuha lang ng insurance ng brother ko sa sunlife, he is living outside the country at bago umalis hindi na niya nahintay yung policy. May namissed siya na pirmahan na form, yung Variable Life Insurance Proposal so pinirmahan nalang ng cousin namin which is yung agent din, ginaya yung signature niya kaso mapapansin na hindi magkapareho ang signature.  Okay lang ba yun or pwedeng magkaroon ng problem in the future pag magkiclaim na? Ano po kaya ang best thing na pwedeng gawin? Pwede kayang magsign na lang ulit ng form at palitan yung attachment pag balik ng brother ko next year?

TIA po..

Just got my insurance sa SUNLIFE. My friend kasi ako na trainer ng SUNLIFE before and now, Specialist na siya.
Yung akin naman is VUL siya with Critical Illness na rider.
Under ng balanced fund para safe muna.
And yung kinuha kong worth is yung i think na kaya kong bayaran ng 10 years.

Salaried employee yung friend so kebs siya sa commission and na make sure niya na he considered all factors compared sa ibang agents na mapapirma lang at mangomisyon. Like sa officemate ko, kumuha siya sa agent ng SUNLIFE, then i asked her how much monthly niya 3k daw. Then i asked, ano yung riders sa policy niya. And sabi niya talaga, "ano yun??

Labo lang..

Puwede magkaproblema iyon, especially if you notice the difference in signatures yourself. Better wait for your brother to come back, or have him sign at the Philippine embassy in whichever country he is in. Even if it gets approved, you dont want the possibility of havIng a problem in the future nagging you at the back of your mind. btw, your cousin shouldn't have done that

Hello, I'm on down payment stage pa lang (hindi pa nakaloan sa bank). 3 years yung down payment. Etong 3 years daw na to sabi ng agent ko ay hindi pa insured.

Diba usually pag nagapply ng house loan sa bank, required nila yung mortgage redemption insurance (MRI). Pero may nabasa kasi ako na mas practical na kumuha na lang ng life insurance tapos allot a percentage of it na si Bank yung magiging beneficiary mo, that would also serve the same purpose as MRI's.

1.6m lang naman yung condo unit. Necessary ba sa tingin nyo girls to get credit life insurance for 20% down na nasa 300k din? If yes, may ganto ba insurance sa Sunlife? Sunlife ba pinakaok na insurance company? Kasi may nakita ako PHilamlife Credit life naman.

So you'll only get insurance for 300k, the same amount
as your downpayment?

That doesn't make any sense.

So, what if you die. Your beneficiaries
get 300k and they can pay the downpayment
in full. What about the balance?

And since you're still paying for the downpayment,
the title is still not in your name. Would your heirs
automatically inherit the condo which again is still
not in your name?

You got it wrong ata sis. I'm just asking for a similar insurance from Sunlife which would provide me life insurance plus MRI for the condo I'm paying for right now. 1.6m yung unit, I could go up to 2M coverage. For the MRI part, I'm assigning my bank as my beneficiary, so if something unfortunate happens, that clears up my liability to the outstanding balance (even if its still not under my name, bec that's what the MRI is technically for)

MRI is just a group term insurance to cover
mortgage.

You can assign any type of insurance as MRI.

And no, once you get a home loan and get
an MRI to cover the said home loan.

The title would be under your name, the bank
will not release the home loan until all taxes are
paid and the title is transferred to your name
from the developer.

So again, you could get a 1.6-2M insurance
then when you die, your beneficiaries can
opt to purchase the unit outright.

I'm not sure what would happen to your
previous payments because again, the title
is not in your name yet.
