limited pay = 5/10/20/xx years to pay
regular pay = pay for life

Although life here means age 88
Other VULs go up to age 100 though.

Anyone knows how much annual premium for adding a Critical Illness rider sa VUL? And how much face amount? I'm trying to compare it with Manulife. Thanks!

I pm'd you the prices. That's based on a proposal
I asked for myself and my wife a few years ago.

Sunlife VUL's Critical Illness rider has a max of 50% of
the main VUL policy's face amount.

Its renewable only up to age 70.

Premium goes up every 5 years.

I placed mine in balanced fund first because
during the first few years, ang liit ng fund value.
Baka ma negative ang fund value kasi nasa equity fund.

What do you mean makita ang status ng stocks?
If you mean just the status of the equity fund,
you can do so anytime. Its updated every business day.

If you're talking about the stocks the equity fund
is invested in then there's normally a monthly report
of sorts called fund fact sheet.

I have Sunlife's term insurance for 1M.
I was wondering how much payment I will have to add on to avail the riders.
Tsaka [textspeak!]-anong riders ba ang available? I know there's one for critical illnesses.

Plus can I just pay for the rider and cancel the term insurance?

^I'm looking at my Sun Life Safer Life term insurance quotation and the riders added are Accidental Death and Total Disability. Accidental Death adds 500+ to the policy, while Total Disability adds about 900-1000+. These are the only available riders for this plan. If you want the critical illness, they have the Life Assure for that. The riders are just add-ons, so you need to have the base term insurance policy.

Thanks sis! I'll look into Life Assure. Kasi plano kong i-stop yung term ko sa Sunlife dahil may free life insurance naman ang BPI. Ang gusto ko lang sana ay yung sa critical illness.

^^Parang parehong-pareho tayo ng situation, sis. I also have that free insurance from BPI. But when I assessed my insurance coverage recently, I saw that we'll be bankrupted if my husband or I acquire an illness or injury that'll need expensive hospitalization. So I got for ourselves health insurance (the catastrophic kind; not the ones with only 50k or 60k limits per year), and now looking to add critical illness since our families have histories of stroke and cancer. I'm just after the critical illness, too, and nothing else, and so far, Sun Life's Assure product looks to be the most attractive. I'm still shopping though.

^sis, san ka kumuha ng health insurance? Meron ako Maxicare kaya lang company provided ito. Naisip ko pano kung mag-resign na ako.

Mukha nga na same ang situation natin. Maganda na insured. Last year kasi na-dengue ako. Buti na lang at may health insurance galing sa company dahil inabot ako ng 50k sa hospital. Hindi ko talaga akalain na ganun kalaki yung babayaran.

I think it's really a must to have a health insurance for the long term. HMO + health insurance.

I'm still weighing kung kukuha ako ng VUL or yung Life Assure ni Sun Life. Yung nagbebenta sakin na financial advisor ng Sun Life, talagang ibinebenta sakin yung VUL at dini-discourage naman ako sa Life Assure. lol

^^Blue Cross, yingying27. If I had access to group HMO, I would get it, too. But I don't since I'm self-employed, and the premiums for individual plans are not a good deal for me.

^I'm choosing between Flexilink and Life Assure, too, but I have to do the computations pa if the Flexilink really is comparable to BTID.

Hindi ba Blue Cross is an HMO? I'm also looking for an HMO coverage and sa Medicard ko plano mag-avail.

Oops, OT.

I got a quotation from PRU Life naman for their regular pay VUL. It shows na you pay lesser premium but you get higher fund value, compared sa BTID.

^Yes, but I specified GROUP HMO. Sa group, I can pay about 4k a year and get up to 200k-500k coverage, per illness pa. But sa individual, 7-8k is the cheapest (yes, with Medicard), and the coverage is a measly, measly 50k for the entire year. If I get for my whole family, konting dagdag na lang, yun na din yung 50k.

I only consider Sunlife and Philam for VULs kasi sila lang naman ang may okay-performing funds. The rest are laggers.

Ako rin, gusto ko sanang insurance yung may critical illness na kasama,  my application in sunlife was declined dahil sa location ko (for the Life Assure :( )  Baka i'll try Prulife.  Ano pa ba ang ibang magandang insurance company aside from Sunlife?
