How about term insurance? Parang wala akong nabackread regarding this. Hope somebody can enlighten me with this. Gusto ko kasi insurance lang and with a specific period of time like 5 years or 10 years. By that time, stable naman na siguro ako. Because the reason why I want insurance is to protect my dependent while I'm still busy building my wealth  ;D. TY

Probably because its not really exciting or "sexy" :p

Term insurance is like property insurance(fire,car)..
You pay and pay and if you live thru the term, you don't
get anything unless you die.

All insurers offer yearly renewable term, eto yung cheapest
at the start and it goes up as you age.

Then yung ibang variant, depende na sa insurer, merong nagooffer
ng 5 year level term, 10,15 at up to age 65.

Hi, term insurance is pure life insurance and it is the cheapest because there's no living benefits like dividends. Beneficiaries will get the face amount kung magkano ang coverage if something happens to the policy holder. Good thing for a term insurance is that pwede mo sya i-convert into other plan :) wala syang specific period ng payment, protected ka lang kung continuous ang payment mo. If you want specific time to pay like 5 years or 10 years, there's other plan for that.

Yung maxilink and flexilink ba di guaranteed? Pwedeng after mo mag hulog ex 10 years, pwedeng wala kang makukuha kasi bagsak ang market/may financial crisis?

Hello, yes, both plans are not guaranteed. Kung bagsak ang market on the 10th year, we advice not to get it muna, antay lang tayo umakyat ulit ang market para hindi lugi :) last 2008 nag-negative ang historical returns but after a year bumawi agad :)

i just want to share:

insurance ng father ko kinuna niya noong 1985, total ng nabayad niya around 300thou.

nung kinuha na niya this year, total ng nakuha around 420thou.

sa 25years, 120thou lang ang naging "interest" ?

kung pinaikot mo sa negosyo ang binayad mo sa insurance, baka ilang buwan lang lagpas pa sa 120thou ang tinubo.

???

^ What kind of insurance did he get?  My brother in law is encouraging to get an educational plan under sun life.  It's something I'm considering since they seem to have enjoyed the benefits already and is actually encouraging to get one.

^traditional life insurance.

nung nalaman ko nga na ganun lang makukuha, gusto ko ng i-pull out yung kinuha ko sa sunlife.

i am paying 60thou/ year. pang 4th year ko na this year.

kaso yung agent ko convinced me na iba ang insurance noon compared sa ngayon. may Mutual Fund daw yung saken..

sa totoo lang, nahiya nalang ako makipag argue so bahala na.

What kind of traditional insurance?
Is it the endowment type where he gets a payout every
x number of years?

Yeah, what you have is a VUL and it is more "investment" heavy
compared to a traditional life insurance policy ergo, you stand
to earn more depending on the fund you choose and its performance.

I have a Sunlife flexilink pero hindi ko masyado naiintindihan. How do you compute for your fund value? I know you can see it online but I just want to make sure. Is it correct na total number of units (based on confirmation notices) x current navps = fund value? If it's that way kasi, then parang mali yung reflected online.
I'm trying to learn more and nagugulugan ako  :o

Yes that's correct. Make sure to include the monthly deductions in
your computation though.

Sa mga may VUL, ano mas prefer niyo, equity, bond or balance?

Maxi is their limited pay variant while Flexi is regular pay VUL.

I usually place mine in balanced for the first few years since
the first years are when the fund value is very small and the
chances that market volatility would deplete the small fund
is great.

I shift to equity once i've built up the fund value.
