@artificialstar, I think you were having doubts about
your policy because your friend has a VUL with a cheaper
premium correct?
(Based on http://www.femalenetwork.com/girltalk/index.php/topic,247981.380.html)

You have to understand that VULs don't work that way.
A VUL with lower annual premiums doesn't mean its better
than a VUL with higher annual premiums.

Heck, there are even VULs where you can specify how
much coverage you want for a given premium. Examples
are PNBLife, Prulife, Insular.

You can pay a 20k premium and have a 100k coverage
or 1M coverage, its up to you.

The only limitation on VULs is the death benefit/coverage
should be at least 5x the annual premium. So a 20k annual
premium policy's death benefit cannot go lower than 100k.

I think you have this misconception because Sunlife has a
target premium for every coverage/face amount you want.

The premium amount is for your own good though, I'm guessing
they were studied thoroughly by actuaries.

Other companies, just place a limit, like 50x the annual premium
or something like that.

A real life example would be pioneer life's VUL. I only referenced
this because they're the only ones who has this kind of documentation
on the web.

http://www.pioneer.com.ph/sites/default/files/files/product/pdf/Enhance%20Fact%20Sheet.pdf

So, if you want a VUL policy of 20k, then you can have a death
benefit of up to 3.4M!!!

Although you can have that much coverage with that small of
a premium, it doesn't mean the policy can support that big of death
benefit.

It all depends on the VUL charges.

I hope that clarifies it for you.
Remember even though you're paying almost two thirds
for half the benefit as your friend, you are getting GUARANTEED
amounts.

Personally, that's why I have VUL though. I don't find the
guarantee worth the price  :P

Same with sis kirei_me

I would like to get a proposal din sana and im eyeing for sunlife flexilink. Im 28 yrs old non smoker with 2 yrs old baby. Walang stable job si hubby and ako yung nagwowork. Gusto ko sana ng premium na di sobrang taas like mga 20 to 25k lang po. May proposal na ko from philam but gusto ko din macompare yung sa sunlife dahil mas maraminh feedback akong nababasa about them. Thanks!

@amanemisa16 and kirei_me PMed you gals. :-)

@bel_84, I think quarterly premium for a traditional plan is flexible enough. If you have problem with it, you can save the monthly premium in your savings account intended for the insurance plan and pay on a quarterly basis sis. :-)

Pwede bang magpalit ng beneficiary in the coming years or do you have to apply for another policy for that?

That would depend on the designation assigned sis. If it is a revocable beneficiary you can instantly erase and change them. On the other hand, an irrevocable beneficiary has an absolute right to your policy. Whether you are about to withdraw the funds or erase/change them you need their written consent to do that. However, irrevocable beneficiary are exempted from taxes later.

But sino namang beneficiary ang gagawa nun? hehe. We'll unless, if it's a business/creditors insurance. Kaya nga, be wise in putting your beneficiaries designation. :-)

ofcourse pwede.. pero kung irrevocable
yung current beneficiary mo, you'll need
his or her authorization for any policy changes
which includes a change of beneficiaries

join ako!

i had myself insured last january 2011. yung kotse nga may insurance tapos ako wala? hehe

FlexiLink yung sakin, 1M face amount with riders na 500k each: accidental death and critical illness. quarterly ko ay 5,800. (i blog about it nga pala, and next thing i knew, pinadalhan ako ni SunLife ng cirque du soleil tickets. haha!)

the fund value of my money as of january 2013 is 12k. not bad at all specially for the first three years naman talaga ay sa insurance napupunta ang pera and konti lang sa investment. hintayin ko lang tumubo ang pera while having myself insured.

this year, plano ko kumuha naman ng MaxiLink Bright. malaki ang premium pero 5 years to pay lang. gusto ko lang magsave for the future.  ;)

I'm interested in Sunlife's plans (variable kung meron) and their investment options (like Mutual fund). :) We used to have Manulife, pero hindi na namin tinuloy. Just like sis Superjoie, meron po kayang makapag-refer ng Sunlife Advisor sa akin?

Thanks mga sis!

Hi im sorta noob sa insurance, investments lingo as well. Nacconfuse kasi ako sa jargon. I have stocks investment with my fiance and separate savings account. Now i know we need to diversify and so i set up a meeting with a Sunlife advisor pero parang hindi sya ganun ka-knowledgeable and proactive. Kung hnd pa ako magtanong, hindi pa niya ivvolunteer ang info. And ang diniscuss nya is alam ko na, like mutual funda, money market, equity fund etc (natutunan ko from a bank's free seminar). So am also in the lookout for a fiancial advisor na hindi lang ako bebentahan kundi ieeducate din ako ang nagbbigay ng details about pros and cons, etc. Any feedback, advice? TIA

^^ sis yung sunlife agent ko minsan nagcoconduct siya ng free small group seminar, like sa starbucks mga ganun pero kelangan lang magpareserve ka muna ng slot kasi limited lang. like mga group of 10 or less ang meet nya minsan. pero kami kasi dun nakipagmeet sa office nya sa Sunlife Makati kasi gusto ni hubby sa office mismo since first time namin nun. so mas may time siya magdiscuss ng options for us and interesting siya kausap especially for hubby lalo na nung natackle yung topic about Citisec :D

Thank goodness for this thread. :)

I was approached by 2 SunLife Financial Advisors and showed me 2 insurance proposals (MaxiLink Prime and Flexilink). After comparing the two & thinking about it over & over, I might go with the MaxiLink Prime kasi wala nang annual excess premium and it's payable for 10 years. Hope I will make the right decision.

I have the calling cards of the 2 financial advisors. If you're interested, PM me. Thanks!

Hi everyone... I'm so new sa products ng Sunlife and I'm currently looking into either FlexiLink or MaxiLink Prime. Napansin ko lang na sa MaxiLink Prime wala yung "Critical Illness Benefit" as compared sa FlexiLink. What I'd like to know is kung meron ba option to include "Critical Illness Benefit" as rider for MaxiLink Prime even if wala siya dun sa list or kung hindi pwede, meron ba rider na same benefit/coverage as that?

Hope someone can help clarify this for me. Thanks! :)

Critical Illness Rider is only available in Flexilink sis. Sad but it is not available for limited paying plans like MaxiBright and MaxiPrime.

Critical Illness can also be bought as a stand alone plan that can be renewed yearly, usually it's premium changes every 5 years, Sun Assure is the name of the plan.
