Oo sis. I'll PM you and at the same time post ko din dito pag naupdate ko na.

Sis yung namention mo about "at the moment mas kailangan ng family ang more insurance kaysa sa savings" medyo naguluhan ako, sa Sunlife Maxilink Prime, more on insurance siya than savings? Like after ilang years may babalik din ba sayo, or pwede ka mawithdraw, kasi nasabi mo isa sa purpose mo is for retirement din. Kung 10 years to pay lang eto, after 10 years what will be the next step na? Sensya na sa kakulitan :)

Regarding that notion, "we need more insurance than savings" I'm pertaining to buying endowment over VUL. Mas kailangan namin ito kasi we are still in the asset building stage which means, meron kaming mga commitments like building a house, acquiring properties and we have growing children. So, merong insurance that would prevent banks and creditors from pulling out this assets incase hindi pa fully paid upon our demise(knock on wood), security na din for the future of our children na siguradong makakapagpatuloy silang makapag-aral at hindi naman kaawaawa ang sitwasyon ng maiiwan na kailangang makapagproduce ng immediate cash for burial and other expense. Naku!! Morbid na kung morbid. But as a mother, I have to make sure that everything is in place dead or alive. At 26, I'm even drafting my Will. hahaha.

With savings kasi, it takes time to build it.
e.g. my husband earns 100,000/month, we spend 70,000 - mortgage, amortization, foods, miscellaneous. so we have 30,000 for the savings. if we solely put this sa savings and on the twelve month may namatay sa amin. we only accumulate 360,000. but if we set aside 10,000 a month for VUL's and High coverage whole life plans that's worth 4M insurance for hubby and 1M insurance for me, something happened at sabay pa talaga kaming kinuha ni hub ni Lord. My children get the 5M plus the fund value at meron pa silang 240,000 from our savings.

ˆsis any info on their retirement fund? ok ba?

What do you mean by retirement fund sis? are you referring to plans na pang retirement?

At the age of 31, now ko lang naisip na kelangan ko na talaga isipin ang future ko while single pa ako. Wala pa rin ako knowledge about insurance, so hindi ko alam kung ano kukunin ko. Any suggestions? Gusto ko sana retirement and savings.

Congrats, you just made your first step in planning for your future finances. Kahit single, you still need insurance, for immediate expenses.

Hi Marssie,

Different insurance products have different objectives. so you should find one that's fits your needs. Sun Peso Provider vs Sunlife Maxilink Prime, simply Sun Peso Provider is more on savings while Sunlife Maxilink Prime is more on investment. Basically investments has better potential to grow than savings. and Maxilink is cheaper than peso provider.

Retirement plans coupled with life insurance are sunmaxilink prime but you can also utilize sunmaxibright. For a very conservative type of people naman that have the money and want guaranteed returns you might consider sun smarter life elite

Term is the cheapest form of insurance coverage if you want to be insured for a period of time. Most, is ginagawa ito, habang nasa productive years pa both parents and the kids are still going to school. Yes sis, you can use term insurance as creditors insurance (banks at kung sinu-sino pa ang pinagkakautangan mo).

Regarding Estate Tax issues. Term insurance is not the right avenue for this if you die at a later age lets say 75 years old?. Satistic says that less than 2% of the term are used. Though we can't predict the time of our death, the probability of living a longer life is greater than dying at a young age. Napakamahal na ng term insurance if you get it at that age and ang tanong insurable ka pa ba?

Sis, what if Term Insurance until 50yrs then kukuha naman ng health care plan to cover old age sickness? Then, in between eh investments in mutual fund, stocks, uitf and real estate. Then pag 60yrs old na eh donation of properties sa heirs?

There are lots of options that you can utilize for the distribution of your assets. You can put up a trust fund, you can incorporate it in the company and distribute in the form of stocks to your heirs, you can also donate, or you can sell it to your child (sa papeles lang). But the question naman is. Is it the best way?

For me lang ha. Inheritance should be an after death na pagpasa ng asset. Or else? Its no longer an inheritance but a gift for a special person. Tama lang na sabihin ng anak na,"ibinigay sa akin ito", kaysa, "ipinamana sa akin ito" in that case. ;D

Supposedly you have transferred your asset because you wanted to avoid estate tax payment. What are the concidence? Pwedeng, e-two time ka, pabayaan ka in your old age, ano pa silbi mo, kasi nasa pangalan na nila ang assets mo. Naku! Eh? Ang anak mo oo. Eh ang mga manugang mo? Conjugal property na kaya yung asset na yan. She/he has the right 50% sa asset mo.

Magcocomplicate pa kung namatay ang anak mo. Kay manugang na ngayon ang full authority and you are out of the picture?aba!!asset ko yan bakit nawala?

Tan tararan. Tapos ang assets mo.

we might not feel kung ano ang side ng mga matatanda kasi bata pa tayo ngayon. My lola, no assets and a pure liability if we talk about asset, always cry in the dark because she felt wala syang silbi. Kung ibigay mo man ang asset mo sa mga anak mo, in the end, ikaw na ang manghihingi sa kanila and not the other way around.

human as we are. We are grateful for whatever we receive from our parents. Pano pa kaya if we are expecting something na pamana sa kanila. Im grateful that i have parents who planned for their future, may assets at hindi pabigat sa kanilang pagtanda. Pagaagawan pa naming magkakapatid kung sino ang magaalaga kasi may pera sila, na pangtustos maospital man o magkasakit, aside that we love them, e hindi sila magiging fimancial burden sa amin.

Just my 2 cents.

What about Sun Life is confusing you ayami?

And just so you know, no insurance policy holder has ever been
left to dry.
Insurance companies has closed shop in the past but they
were bought by another insurance company.

And also CAP is a pre need company, not an insurance company.

re estate tax
basahin niyo yung book na Thy Will Be Done. Great read.

also, make sure that the insurance that you're getting is irrevocable para walang tax. for those with existing policies, now is the the time to check them. pag revocable, isasama pa yan sa estate tax.

as of the moment, revocable ang policies namin ni hubby. plan namin kapag we're blessed na with children, we will make it irrevocable and sila na ang beneficiary :)

Or at least 2 benefeciary mo so pwede si hubby at si baby tapos irrevocable. Ok lang naman.

I will be joining sunlife very soon. Just need to undergo trainings and exams. I'm so excited! I've always been an advocate of financial literacy awareness for Filipinos. I chose Sunlife over other insurance companies because of their good products and their passion in helping people become financially secured, not just to sell insurances.

Meron ba kayo na ma-rerecommend na sunlife agent? May sunlife ako before, but I had to cancel. Now I want to join sana ulit. The thing is I am abroad kasi right now. Anyway, if anyone can recommend me an agent, I'll communicate na lang via email siguro.

Thanks in advance!
