in my experience sa guy boss ako.

currently working with a lady manager as assistant to the manager. my God! tapang na tapang pag hindi kaharap ang kaaway kapag kaharap na tumitiklop knowing na nasa sarili nyang office. lahat pa ng trabaho ng iba gusto akuin tapos ipapasa sa akin... credit grabber din sya. wala rin ako nakukuhang inputs sa kanya puro non sense kasi mga insights nya.

Lady Boss- mas nakakarelate din kasi sila sa mga mommy and wife issues kaya pag may sakit mga kids ko or birthday, pumipirma agad sa leave form ko.ha!ha!

for me, guy boss! mas madaling kausap at pakiusapan.. yung mga lady boss ko dati, lahat masyadong fault finder, tapos gusto lahat detalyado. ultimo SL at VL itatanong pa sayo how it went, eh alam ko namang nagdududa lang sya. walang tiwala sa mga subordinates nya, pano gawain kasi. naka encounter na rin ako ng lady boss na galit sa maganda, lalo yung mas maganda sa kanya, haha! ilusyonada!

I agree with freelancer_babe. Mas tinitignan ko yung ugali and management style ng boss, hindi yung kanyang gender. I used to think that I preferred male bosses because they tend to be more "chill", easier to talk to, and less controlling than female bosses. But a male manager I worked at my second to the last job was a bit of a control freak and created unreasonably strict policies. Sa last job ko naman, hindi ko rin matiis yung male manager ko kasi masyado syang ma-hirit at ma-joke - yung tipong medyo condescending yung tono.

I prefer a guy boss. It's easier to talk to them than a woman. They are straightforward. And apparently, they are more flexible than a woman boss.

I've had my share of Guy/Lady/Gay - Butchikels na lang ang hindi ko na experience maging boss. Actually meron but not directly working for.

I'd prefer Guy bosses too. Hindi ko naman nilalahat pero mas ok sa akin ang guy boss, easy to talk to, walang underlying messages or pamamlastik unlike female bosses minsan they think using their hearts and hindi minsan maalis yung "dudera" factor.  I noticed that Guy bosses too are lenient with leaves too or anything "mommy or family" related lalo na kung single pa sila, parang they'd cut the chase and leave it be matapos lang ang paalaman session with you. Unlike Lady bosses, they want to know the nitty-gritty details of so and so...

I had two Gay bosses too, magkaiba naman sila parehong mabait and ok sa work, yung isang Gay boss lang namin when an officemate (i wrote about her in "Dear Officemate" read my nobela there) flirted and slept "daw" with a client. Na sinermunan nya and pinahiya sa office with other people not from our department. Oo unprofessional yung ginawa nya (boss) Pero siguro yun lang ang way na naisip nya to put a stop to it that time. Kalowka lang kasi nakarating sa amin from other people who witnessed their scene.

just want to share lang din but only based from my work experience.

guy (50 something) boss - the coolest boss I ever had, serious pag trabaho, nakakabiruan naman pag joke time but of course yung tamang biro lang. Medyo mahirap lang magpaalam sa kanya pag magleleave but he understands naman if I tell him the reason. He is a friend when it comes to that matter.  and lastly, mabait. He is my first boss and I am grateful na hindi ako na culture shock considering it's my first job. Until now, my respect for him and friendship is still there kahit napalitan siya as my boss.

I-think-he-is-gay boss - He is okay naman kaso pag tinatantrums ang hirap espelingin ni boss. Ngayong araw sinabi nya eto, bukas iba na - wala daw syang sinabing ganun. hay nakakaloka.

Lady boss - insekyurang frog. period.

foreign guy boss - nasa mid 30's lang. haay patayan ang trabaho because he is young, just started the business, very eager, and very desperate to succeed. kaso wala syang care sa employee nya.

Hokie, to summarize things up -- i still prefer a guy boss.

It depends on the attitude of the bosses din e. 

I have experienced 2 lady bosses, who are complete opposite of each other.  The first one shouts a lot, makes pahiya of her subordinates, always talks about her accomplishments like "magaling ako, magaling ako".  The other one naman, who is superior than the 1st one, is very soft-spoken and malambing.  They are both good at their work.

Haven't experienced a guy filipino boss e. only guy foreign. and its the same scenario as my lady bosses. one shouts (you wouldn't expect that sa guy boss), the other naman is nice.

well, depende pa din siguro sa tao how they handle their subordinates. hehe

I prefer Guy Boss, Straight forward..now kasi lady boss ko fickle minded, hindi magaling magmanage saka kuripot! (Chinese kasi hehe).unlike sa boss ko dati fixed kapag nagdesisyon yun na yun!

for me, it doesn't matter. i think gender definitely is a factor but it doesn't matter as a whole. nasa ugali pa din.
although, ang pinakamagaling kong boss na nakahawak sakin is a lady boss.

yung naging lady boss ko, we just got along really well nung magreresign nako  I came to a point na ayaw ko na sya makitaor nawala motivation ko na pumasok. One time she suggested something for my presentation to the top management, but then when they bombarded us questions, she left me hanging, that was the worst part i had with her. She is a total opposite of my previous guy boss.

ngayon naman, my boss is guy, jordanian, ok naman sya. medyo detailed lang sa work minsan pero keri naman.

guys for me better opposite sex talaga magkasama.

subordinate is a lday tapos boss is a guy or vice versa. basta wag the same, lage kase may conflict.

am i right?
