Hehe!

Wala naman sa amount yun, it's really the thought that counts! :)

Hi Sisses!

I am a 2018 bride and I wonder if bridal registries does still work.

My friends sent an invite/event sa fb tapos dun nila iba-blast yung reminder sa registry, map ng church and venue and any other activities or updates. Your guests can also call the hotline to check kung saan branch/es available yung item or kung may available near you.

i preferred cash but good things our guests know well enough that we are based overseas and that we have been married ten years (civil) so we did not get that much gifts in boxes, more on envelopes. we did get 5 gifts though, luckily hindi appliances and we bought them all back with us hehe.

i cannot comment on the registries as i have not tried them myself but in this age, i am pretty sure this is a good choice. pwede naman sigurong from different registries?  SM has a wedding registry, at kahit saang parte ng Pinas ay may SM so it should be convenient for the guests??

Hi sis,
The last time I attended a wedding and gifted the couple with something from their registry, medyo nahirapan ako. Why? Yun affordable items sakto with my budget ubos agad. That was one month to the wedding. Ang daming natira sa registry but those are the far more expensive ones. Alanganin yun nabili ko because it was way below my budget. Ending is nag cash nalang ako. The thing is baka may mga guests na walang mapili and bought other items na wala naman sa registry or i-substitute nila for cheaper brand yun items that they find expensive.

Hi Sir @purple_tips !

Thanks sa reply mo.. :)

Siguro yung plan ko from your experience is to balance talaga the expectation na gift from the guests sa registry.

Salamat ulit!

It really depends on the couple. For us, since both of us are based abroad, we prefer cash and we will include that note in our invites :)

Cash gifts will almost always be preferred, whether the couple is local or foreign based. Cash offers more flexibility for the new couple in terms of use and value.

Plus, pag nag doble yung cash gift/s, mas matutuwa pa yung couple!  ;D

Small wedding lang kami (100 guests) on a weekday na bumabagyo with some of the guests coming in from the province to Manila kaya presence pa lang ng guests namin sobrang saya na namin.

We also preferred cash on the wedding day pero di namin nilagay sa invites - by word of mouth na lang.

Convenient lang din kasi pag cash - nagamit namin to upgrade some of our appliances.

Although we did receive a lot of gifts na we really loved and found useful kahit na hindi kami nakagawa ng registry kasi hindi na namin naisingit sa mga tasks namin.

I had a lot of colleagues na hindi talaga makakapunta dahil sa Monday wedding kami but they still gifted us with cash and gifts - medyo malungkot lang din na hindi sila nakapunta. I would have loved to see them on our wedding day.

Hindi ko alam kung pasok ba to sa topic na to. Pero how would you feel sa mga umattend ng wedding nyo pero walang gift? As in presence lang walang cash or gift. Totoo pa ba sa panahon ngayon yun presence as present is enough?

Presence > presents for me. The guests already gave you their time, money, effort to attend your wedding. Material gifts (cash or otherwise) are nice-to-haves, but I don't expect them from guests. A wedding is a celebration, not a fund raiser.

^I agree. I invited them because I want them to be part of the celebration and not because i look forward for their gifts.

Thanks MrChocNut and mysterioza_me! Andami kasi naming wedding invites na natanggap lately. We really wanted to attend and be a part of their celebration. Kaya lang we're on a tight budget din. To think, puro out of town pa ang venue. Nahihiya ako na wala kaming maiabot man lang, knowing gumastos sila. :( or mag decline just because wala kaming pang gift. Syempre nakakahiya din naman tanungin sa mismong nag invite if ok lang ba na presence lang, kasi baka isipin tingin ko sa kanila e gift lang habol for inviting me. Hehe

For our wedding invitation, we simply put this:

Your presence is the best gift we can hope to receive.

In our wedding website, we had a link to our online gift registry, which included a honeymoon fund and a variety of items with different price points. For the registry link, we specified that we still did not want gifts, but compiled a registry for those who have asked anyway. In our case, we had quite a handful of people ask us what they could possibly give us even if we insisted it was not necessary. So to help them (and ensure we do not receive duplicate gifts), we did a registry.

The fun thing about an online registry is that if guests purchase a gift there -- the gift gets shipped to our home directly (no need for guests or us to carry). Note we are US-based though, so not sure if there is something like this in the Philippines.
