Ito lang naman suggestion ko kapag mag cash poem, yung idea iparating niyo lang sa kanila na they have an option to give cash if they want. Huwag naman yung parang ang idea is mas importante ang pera kesa sa regalo, or yung parang importante presence mo pero cash is what we require. Recently ang dami ko nang nakikitang invitation na ang ganda ng sinabi pero kapag inisip mo yung idea parang they are requiring you to give cash on their wedding.

What's with registering to Rustan's? Sorry im not familiar. And applicable ba yan if hindi sa manila ang wedding? TIA!

As long as may Rustans sa area mo kahit hindi Manila that is applicable. Applicable to all branches yung 10% discount coupon ng rustans kapag nagparegister ka.

Nagpa gift registry ako for non wedding celebration.

^Tubby, we prefer cash also (bec our condo is already fully furnished) but we still registered with Rustans though we wont announce it or put in the card with the invite. Purpose lang of the registry for us is so that if we wont have duplicates if they decide to give a gift instead, at least may filter kahit papano. My friends though are relieved na cash nalang as they dont want to think na.

This is our intention as well. We did release some Rustan's cards in the invites for some people whom we know will not give cash.

Same here all about presence enough talaga for me at yun ang pinaka importante sa akin as long as they came with respect and proper manner.

Paano ba pag magpapagift registry? SM lang kasi meron dito samin. Sorry about my question. Wala talaga ako idea how it works. Haha

Kung SM you can also do the same tapos bibigyan ka naman nila ng guidelines. Tapos they will give you a coupon na 10% discount yan ang ibibigay mo sa mga ininvite mo.

I will post later yung itsura ng mga coupons.

Ah. Parang komplikado ata. Haha.  We will not be having the traditional money dance kasi. Hahaha

Honestly di kami nag eexpect ng gifts. Kahit wala okay lang basta mag attend lang sila at wag mag eat and run at magparticipate sa program.. more than enough na samin yun.

^^Saan ba ang province niyo? I strongly suggest sa SM kayo mag gift registry kasi everywhere naman yan just ask kung saan pwede magpa gift registry for the wedding.

^sis ceremony and 1st reception will be in Baguio (destination wedding) 2nd will be in Pangasinan, 3rd naman sa subic. :) ah may ichecheck kang lists tapos pipili yung givers dun tama ba? Ganun ba?

^Actually for me there is nothing wrong naman to choose many Godparents as long as they have objective and close naman sila sa Godparents na yun.

Exactly the point about the bawi gastos thing. I also find it weird sa mga bongga wedding na in fact alam ko nga mapera o mayaman sila, sa invitation pa lang minsan makikita mo na eh! I mean kung saan ang church and venue tapos at the end of the invitation makikita mo na lang they are requiring you to give cash gift  :( Parang ang feeling ko may bayad yung pagpunta mo sa wedding nila. Kapag ako naimbitahan sa ganyan I will really give them a bible or a book about happy marriage.

^sis ceremony and 1st reception will be in Baguio (destination wedding) 2nd will be in Pangasinan, 3rd naman sa subic. :) ah may ichecheck kang lists tapos pipili yung givers dun tama ba? Ganun ba?

Yes ganun na nga. As long as they will rely on gift registry. Cross out yung item kapag nabili na. Yet karamihan ng natanggap ng baby mga damit which is more in favor of it naman.

^apir sis chili!! Hehe. We only have 4 pairs of principal sponsors. And to be honest, only 3 out of 8 lang ang medyo may kaya sa buhay.

Overkill na if you put in invites then still have money dance (unless you and your guests are from Batangas where I heard the money dance tradition came from and where it's really upheld).

Lol, natawa ako dito. My wedding will be in Batangas (I was born and raised there and both sides of our family are pure Batangenos). Etong money dance talaga ang hindi pwedeng mawala sa wedding, as requested by my parents. Most of the Batangas wedding traditions -- dance party sa night before ng wedding, pagbebenta ng kakanin during the wedding (ito talaga ang hindi ko nagets eversince, the elderly sell suman and kalamay for, hmm, 10 thousand pesos each, lol), pagbigay ng 'sabit' sa mga ninong/ninang sa binyag, kumpil, and sa kasal, etc etc --- lahat yan di na namin gagawin. My parents were quite hesitant nung una since hindi nga kasi traditional yung gusto namin but they understood naman eventually so they just requested that we have the prosperity dance man lang. I remember one photographer I follow on facebook who posted about a wedding in Batangas where the couple received a huge sum of cash gifts (and yes, they announce the total 'earnings' sa reception, heck, they even announce kung magkano binibigay kada isang tao na mag-aabot), and sabi nya he felt like the guests were robbed. I remember ginawa pa din yan sa wedding ng sister ko 4 years ago, and another wedding I attended last year.

Also, for weddings in Batangas, it's kind of automatic for the principal sponsors to give cash gifts. There's this concept kasi of 'sabit' where the couple give gifts to the principal sponsors and sort of 'tatapatan' nila yung worth nun in cash. And by gifts I mean, 10-20 kilos of meat, loads and loads of kakanin, and kung ano ano pa. Ganun kasi talaga ang tradition doon.

^Agree with you sis Chili especially about the part that do the traditions if both bride and groom are from Batangas and the venue is in Batangas also.
My husband is from Batangas while I'm from Manila. Since we had our wedding in Manila, we didn't do any of those Batangas wedding traditions (like sabit, money dance, sabog..etc)..
The first time I attended a wedding sa Batangas, nagulat din ako dun sa nagbebenta ng suman/kakanin part at yung pag-a-announce ng cash gifts.

Honestly between the two scenarios, mas elegant pa yung simple wedding pero walang pressure to give cash gifts. Heheh and I don't know maybe I am maldita lang talaga, but when I get an invitation insisting on a cash gift the more I am walang gana to give a gift. Whereas when nothing is indicated, the more pa I want to give them a nice gift/ or gift certificates etc. Thankfully we never get invitations like that. Maybe 1 every 3 years lang, heheh

Same feeling here, kapag ako nakatanggap mismo ng ganyang invitation mawawalan rin ako ng gana. Yung feeling kasi minsan na parang akala ko ba I am honored to be invited? :D

simang Now ko lang nalaman yung pagbenta about those kakanin, ang alam ko lang kaya hinahanda yan para mas maging stick yung pagsasama. Something like magtatagal.

Batangas tradition lang ba talaga yung money dance? Kasi I have cousin na here lang naman sa QC nagpakasal and I know wala naman taga Batangas pero they still have money dance. Same with my bro and his in law na taga Pangasinan. I have cousins too na nagmoney dance rin. Akala ko this is normal in all provinces or for the Filipinos  ;D.

Yung napuntahan kong wedding some months ago, cash and gifts yung hiningi nila. I mean, 'yon yung sinulat nila sa invites. For the invites na para sa mga ninong at ninang, they put something like "we'll be grateful if you can give us a cash gift as we're building our home."

Sa regular guests like us, bridal registry options lang yung nakalagay. Sa SM and Rustans sila. And then hindi na sila nag-money dance.

I found their style very practical.

Same here sis! Im really not expecting gifts or even a bridal shower especially since we're an older couple in our late 30s and both financially independent. I read somewhere in that in the States when a couple has their own homes already that they shouldn't even ask for gifts.

Sis Chili - Medyo out of topic but I also insisted on no bridal showers! I am not exactly a blushing bride. We are both in our late 30s as well. We also didn't do the usual pamamanhikan but we will have a lunch with parents, siblings, and some of our ninongs/ninangs.

I have nothing against the couples who are doing the prosperity dance especially if yun ang tradition. But as for my own wedding, hindi namin gagawin. Especially well be having 3 receptions baka pag ginawa namin yun sa lahat isipin pa nila pinagkakakitaan na namin yung wedding. Although sa side ni h2b, all his siblings are married na and all of them did that. Pero i made it clear to him na walang ganun, as requested also by my dad. Especially destination wedding kami, their presence is enough. 3-hour drive (from my province) and 6-hour drive (from h2b's) is no joke. Not to mention i wont shoulder all my guests' transpo and accomodation. So if ill do the money dance, parang were ripping them off na. This is just me ha

^That is actually a great idea, you'll never know meron pa rin naman at merong magbibigay ng cash na kusa rather than expecting it. Hindi ko pa rin makalimutan yung sinabi ng hubby ko noon about his friend na may Godparent na nagbigay ng 500 tapos pinagtatawanan pa nila.
