Sentro - sinigang na corned beef
Antonio's Grill at Tagaytay - paksiw na bangus with chicharon ( no fishy taste at all), chicken inasal
Serye - boneless crispy pata, chicken barbecue
Dencio's - sisig, grilled blue marlin
Via Mare - pork tocino with rice (alitanghap), fresh lumpiang ubod, pancit luglug, lugaw with toppings, puto bumbong, bibingka
Cafe Juanita - kare-kare

Within the metro, we usually pick among Mangan, Dencio's, Via Mare, Sentro. Madaming alternatives, but I've yet to find true Filipino fine dining restaurants na patok. Pinoy cuisine kasi is meant to be a family/community affair.

there's also a super nice resto in Valero, XO46 Bistro Filipino. I love their la paz batchoy, dumaguete express and of course, lechon cebu

wow I was gonna make a thread about searching for a good and authentic Filipino resto for our guest

Chinese/Vietnamese(?) siya whose coming from Australia next week. mejo panic narin ako.
He likes daw coconut milk dishes like curry, etc and as well as deserts. Will try MANGAN, MESA or ABE.

btw, any suggestions where I can make him taste the best Ginataan?
mahilig kasi rin siya sa violet kamote aside from gata.
and where can I also buy mga native/sweet delicacies  like kamote chips, polvoron, pili nuts in sugar..basta mga ganun?

I can't remember if Via Mare serves Ginataan but they have delicious Puto Bumbong (serve with either cheddar cheese or quezo de bola) and Bibingka (either with cheese or itlog na pula), you might want to have your guest try it.
For polvoron - ok na ok ang classic ng Goldilocks.
Include na rin sa list mo ang SENTRO - so far, wala pa akong dinalang balikbayan don na hindi nasarapan.

I wonder where else can I buy delicacies na pwede niya iuwi sa Australia. kasi yesterday I shopped around for Pinoy shirts, etc sa pinoy section ng department store sa Megamall. I saw din sa isang section dun mga cassava chips etc and saw also yung mga pastillas de leche, mazipan (?) etc and ang nakakainis is that expiry ng mga yun is Jan.2013 na, so hindi ako nakabili yung mga cassava chips lang nabili ko and mga "sugar substitutes" natin like coco sugar, etc to taste lang naman

any other places I can buy these stuff? I wonder if yung mga Filipino restos na namention is nagsesell ng mga ganun..(sorry OT na)

^ sis, kung sa Megamall ka malapit, tuwing weekend may stalls ng foodstuff sa labas ng both grocery areas, may marzipan, kakanin, puto, leche flan, halaya etc. There's also a permanent store in mega that's dedicated to pasalubong stuff (e.g. barquillos, pastillas etc), as well as stalls ng lengua de gato and napoleones, I can't remember lang exactly where. Ask mo na lang sa customer service. Pero a lot of Pinoy delicacies mabilis talaga ang expiry date.

Or pasok ka na lang sa malalaking supermarkets, often there are shelves for packaged Pinoy delicacies.

OnT: The recent months I've had the chance to dine at Abe at Recipes. Masarap rin pala dun.

oo nga napansin ko nga yan na may stalls sa labas ng counters sa supermarket i think every pagdumadaan ako dun pauwi.

^^ sis, try landmark food court, very near breadtalk me mga stalls na nagtitinda ng pastillas, barquillos, etc.  i forgot lang yung name ng stall, yung katabi nagtitinda ng ensaymada.

^ i just passed by that stall, sinara sila. may closure order nakapost sa stall nila kanina pero ewan ko bakit.

@momentum: try Market! Market! just outside (near parking area), puro local delicacies dun. each stall sells specialties of each province.
