baka nga sa butter. although some cream cheese are a bit darker than others, if that's what you've been using then it's probably the butter that made the difference :)

As per an acquaintance na culinary-taught dude, margarine din lang pala ang Marquis by Elle&Virre. I was wrong. Akala ko butter kasi it says 'Doux' sa label.

So I'm on the hunt again for low-cost unsalted real butter.

^i'm using queensland unsalted butter kpag ngbebake, almost 80pesos sya per 8 oz.
i tried using magnolia butterlicious, yung tig 55 pesos, nung nagbake ako ng cookies. ok lang naman ang lasa. blend daw yun ng butter and margarine kaya cheaper siya than regular magnolia butter pero mas mahal naman kesa sa ordinary margarine. nung ginamit ko yun, di na ako nag add ng salt sa recipe.

I showed him the ingredients kasi of Marquis butter, and he says (and I read, too) it has vegetable oil as an ingredient.  It just has milk solids incorporated into it so make it taste and seem like butter. E di ba ang butter is supposed to be a pure dairy product, so Marquis having vegetable oil added to it makes it technically margarine, even if may 'doux'. Unsalted margarine, maybe? Well sana nga may magclarify talaga.

Also, I tried making beurre noisette (browning the butter) technique, kaso after mag-evaporate ng water, hindi nag-brown yung Marquis. 'Yun pala hindi sya pure butter.

Meron akong suki na bilihan ng flours etc sa Bayan, Marikina. All they have though is Baker's Best and Dari Creme which are both margarines.

Has anyone tried buying in divisoria?  Yung nakasabay ko kasi sa class before said she buys in divi.  Super mura raw.  Yung equipments and tools naman, sa quiapo daw.

^ No noticeable difference in flavor or consistency but butter is best for baking because of it's high fat content( 80% fat) while margarine has little as 35% fat, the rest is mostly water..

Difference is in the taste.  Sabi nga sa heny sison, if your clients are high-end, use butter.  It costs more but cake will taste better.  If your clients are medyo low-end, margarine will do.  It costs less but of course, butter tastes better.  I have yet to try margarine though.  I always use butter kasi.

too bad, they don't have cheap butter. siguro kasi most bakeries use margarine instead of butter. for me, mas masarap ang butter for cookies and cakes. But actually di naman gaano na ffeel pag sa cakes na. sa cookies, mas malasa talaga ang butter.  :)

mas mura nga siguro sa quiapo for equipment but not so sure about divi, baka kasi cheap China goods  :-\

I agree with sis funky f. naka-depende sa market mo yung ingredient na gagamitin mo. Ako, magnolia buttercup or selecta butterfresh ang gamit, ok naman ang lasa. Pero na-curios ako sa magiging lasa ng baked goodies ko kung real butter gagamitin ko. Kaya kaialangan kong i-try yun :)
