Magnolia butter (salted & unsalted), wala naba satin niyan?

I came from heny sison's beginners' fondant class kanina. Now i know bakit ang mahal ng fondant cakes!  Ang hirap pala nya gawin!  And it takes more thanba day pala to make 1.

Btw, they use magnolia butter and cream cheese kasi sponsor daw nila.

i never liked cakes with  fondant...they are beautiful pero the fondant mismo hindi masarap at uber tamis... i usually peel it off  the cake

Me too!  I don't eat the fondant but they're just soooo irresistably pretty!  Kaya dapat masarap pa rin yung cake underneath.  May iba kasi na maganda but not sarap.

I have yet to taste yung marshmallow fondant, sabi mas masarap daw kaysa sa usual fondant na parang lasang plastic.

It causes the icing na maging grainy daw.

(way too sweet for me!)
SWISS MERINGUE BUTTERCREAM (SMBC) - ito yung egg whites at granulated sugar na ilalagay mo sa double broiler, i-whiwhip mo siya occassionaly until magreach na temp nya ng 160F. then i-whiwhip mo na siya till magdouble in size saka mo lalagyan ng butter and flavoring.
ITALIAN MERINGUE BUTTERCREAM (IMBC)- same ingredients din ng SMBC. method lang ang difference. kasi with IMBC, gagawa ka ng syrup then habang whiniwhip mo yung egg whites, ilalagay mo yung syrup (carefully), then saka mo ilalagay yung butter and flavoring...
i hope nakatulong ako... :)

i think buttercream the icing from merced...most cakes nowadays use shortening or ewan ko kung ano nilalagay na nila sa icing/frosting to make them last.. look at the cakes from commercial shops... if that was real buttercream icing natunaw na iyan without refrigeration pero kahit maghapon sila sa shelves ayon mukha pa din "fresh"...

i agree with most of you girls, di ko rin type ang fondant. actually i don't find it interesting kahit maganda ang labas kasi mas madaling ma manipulate. ewan ko ba, maybe it's just me  ;D

i love cream cheese frosting. nowadays, i seldom buy cakes/sweets because I don't know how they are made by the seller. i can't even guarantee they are using quality ingredients. Also, they are expensive! or baka sa mamahalin lang ako tumitingin?!  ::) :o

I personally feel na masyadong structured. Tama ka kapatid^ masyadong manipulated pag fondant, Pero kumbaga, kyut sya. Yung classic frostings e maganda. :D

And I love classic old school stuff. hehe. Nakakamiss tuloy bigla yung Merced chiffon tapos icing. Hehe!

I also love cream cheese frosting.. Bakit kaya? Wala naman deperensya sa taste kasi masarap nga eh according to my mom and tito yung kulay talaga ako nagtataka..
