for those who have baked chocolate crinkle cookies, i am wondering if i can add chopped nuts to the mixture before i form them into balls and bake them? will the outcome be similar to brownie cookies?

^sis anne_zero9 did you chill the dough/mixture before you made them into balls and baking them? you have to chill the dough for at least 4hours to make the dough more manageable to form and para hindi siya masyado magflatten. what i usually do is i chill the dough for 4hours then after forming them into balls i put them back in the ref while i preheat the oven (so mga 15mins sila sa ref) before i bake them.

^^ sis ladyhan, i never use margarine... hindi ko gusto lasa. i use either butter ( lurpak unsalted ang gamit ko ) or canola oil.

^^^ sis hija, nakakagamit ka nang wax paper when baking cookies sa oven? i tried that once umusok ang oven ko. when i looked it up on the internet hindi daw pwede ang wax paper na exposed sa oven since the wax melts, pwede mo sya gamitin pero dapat tago siya like pwede mo siya lining sa ilalim pero totally covered sa ibabaw

mga sis ask ko naman, i bought this betty crocker cupcake decorating kit. here's a link to see what it looks like http://www.kitchenstuffplus.com/8083-Betty-Crocker-Cupcake-Decorating-Kit.aspx
is anyone here using the same kit? tips naman on how to use. i don't know kase if mahirap talaga siyang gamitin or i am just doing something wrong. i though it would be easier to use than the piping bag, turned out after i use this i prefer the piping bag. i made chocolate frosting using the recipe at the back of the hersheys cocoa can. so mga issues ko with the betty crocker kit:
1. ang hirap ilagay nang frosting sa loob using the frosting spoon. mas nadalian pa ako when i used the kutsarita (teaspoon)

miksha, i don't have that kind of tool but for me, easier talaga ang piping bag. also, you can try checking online reviews of the item. you might want to try using warm water to clean the insides. I usually use hot/warm water to clean my baking tools to remove grease easily.

ladyhan, i use margarine, butter and oil for varied recipes. but i can't really give you a specific brand as I'm not in the Philippines. Sorry. For me, I use margarine for cookies, butter and oil for cakes and cupcakes. :)

anybody here who has tried making french macarons? any advice on how to have feet? i'd love to hear any inputs. TIA.

is there something that i can add to whipped cream frosting to make it last longer at room temperature? i am taking my cupcakes to a school bake sale. i am thinking whipped cream para hindi matamis. as much as possible gusto ko simple ingredients lang for frosting. also, how long can i keep frosting in the refrigerator without going bad? ayaw ko siya ifreeze because it takes time to thaw. i plan on making everything the night before para assembly na lang sa morning then pack because we have to leave early. thanks!

I'd rather use canola oil kung walang real butter at hand. As far as I know, there's this study na margarine is but one molecule away from being plastic. So from then on, I never use margarine. Sabi nila urban legend lang daw yan, but even so, margarine has very high amounts of transfat compared to butter or the healthier varienties of oil and is hydrogenated. So think about it next time you use margarine.

Totoong piping bag nalang. :)

Hello mga sis.
I use Elle & Vire Marquis French butter, nabibili ko sya sa Robinson's Supermarket. Ewan ko pero sa analogy ko sa mga katabi nyang butter, that brand appears to be the unsalted variety which is best for baking nga raw kasi macocontrol mo yung salt content ng baked goodies mo. I asked my bf (nasa French speaking country) and with some research sa net, I read na DOUX (in French baking terms) means sweet, whick also denotes the butter being unsalted. And much more good news, less than P60 lang ito, kung ikukumpara mo sa ibang brands, Anchor, Queensland, Philadelphia, na super mamahal.

I'll take a picture of it and post here para mamukhaan nyo. I've used it around 4-5 times and okay naman sya. Though gusto ko pang i-clarify kasi Made in Brazil ata sya tapos foreign words lahat ng nakasulat.
Pero kung may budget naman kayo to splurge and its for someone special, dun na kayo sa mas mahal na unsalted butter, it will make a better difference.

Tsk tsk.
Hindi pa naman ako nagbubusiness kasi out of this hobby, pagawa-gawa lang trying to see if saan ako best: bread, cakes, o pastries. Kaya budget-constrained parin ako kasi puro palabas ito, wala akong income out of this which sana magkaroon narin soon. :)

^^sis, mura nga yang brand na yan ng butter. may nakita rin ako minsan sa sm, kunin ko sana kaso hindi ko alam kung salted or unsalted sya kasi walang nakalagay kaya ang kinukuha ko nalang is yung queensland, PhP75 naman. ayaw ko rin kasi yung mas mahal pa. minsan i use salted butter kapag wala akong unsalted, i just omit ng salt sa recipe.
