Question sisses; sapat na ba ang stash ko? I’ll give birth next month pa lang but I bought:

Lampins/prefolds – 24pcs
Covers – 1 bummis plus 4 cheap ones from SM and landmark
CDs – 12 pcs assorted Charlie banana, alva and etc.

I bought pa din lampin kasi I’m thinking baka di kasya agad yung AIOs sa newborn.

^Lampins and prefolds are actually better for newborns rather than AIO or Pockets because you'll be needing to change them more often because newborns poop a lot, almost every feeding.

I've never tried local covers (SM and Landmark) review naman sis kung maganda sila. They look too much like plastic and feeling ko parang mainit sila and hindi breathable. Correct me if I'm wrong ha, yun kasi nakikita ko sa SM eh

Bought some cd's at alva site mga ilang weeks bago makarating sa post office yun? tama ba sa shipping address ang nilagay ko yung address namin?

hi sis ava, how many did you buy? kung konti lang (less than 20 pcs.), baka around 3-4 weeks or more bago darating sa pinas. pag 20 pcs. up dun shiniship ng alva site via express mail ang nappies.

Ano ba magandang brand ng inserts and liners ang magandang bilin?

sis ava_camille, tama yun. when you shop online, always use your house or office address as your shipping address. don't worry, dadating yan. wala pa naman akong nabalitaan na hindi nila nakuha ang order nila from alva.

^ may mga local online sellers pero ganon din price. US brand kasi ang charlie banana. the only way you can get US brands at a lower price is if you wait for sales sa mga US-based online cd shops. problema mo lang dun kung pano makakarating dito ang cds mo. you either have to find a site that ships directly to the philippines or use a forwarder. pwede rin kung may relative or friend ka na uuwi dito galing US, makisuyo ka na lang.

I have been cloth diapering my son for 16 months now pag daytime. Pero yesterday i noticed that the cloth diapers don't fit him anymore. I think it's time to switch to disposables na.

^ sis, what brand of diapers do you have? meron namang cloth diapers na mas malaki ang sizes. meron ding cloth diaper pull-ups. baka mas better ang pull-ups kasi those are made for toddlers up to 2-3 years old na.

^grovia and tushy wushy. hindi pa lampas sa recommended weight na 35 lbs baby ko pero low waist na kasi sa kanya yung mga CD. anong brand yung me pull-ups sis?

mas better ba china brands than US? just purchased happy heinys and thirsties as testers for my new born, you think ok ito for first time mom like me?

Thalia: Yes, what brand of nappies are you using? There are some OSFM brands that run a bit smaller, and they probably won't fit until potty training. There are some brands however that run a bit large... I suggest you try those. You can also use sized diapers. Personally, since I've converted to cloth diapers, I don't think I'll ever go back to disposables. I'm just loving them so much!

Diane: I don't think the question is which is better, but which suits your needs more. What I like about US brands is that the quality control is a lot better... of course, they're a lot more expensive too. China brands work well enough, but you may encounter the occasional defect or bad lot (although this isn't common). For newborns, since they pee and poop a lot, a Thirsties cover would actually be a good choice since you can just change the insert and reuse the shell. With pocket diapers, you have to change the whole nappy.

^thanks for replying. one more question, are all inserts fitted to all brands of CDs? like if i have thirsties & HH brands,do i need to buy inserts with same brand?or pwede kahit ano even lampin?saka what if nagpoop, dapat may liners?

After 3 weeks dumating na din Alva CD's ko paid Php 40 sa customs. Planning to use prefolds muna sa umpisa, okay lang ba gamitan ng liner ang prefolds?

thalia: i don't know about tushy wushy but grovia runs small talaga. a lot of people like it because it's trim. grovia has pull-ups/trainers, btw. lots of US brands have them, even china/asian brands. so far, our group (mcnp) has been able to try two asian pull-ups - cluebebe and mikiwili. positive feedbacks naman for both. mikiwili runs larger than cluebebe. i heard coolababy (another china brand) also has pull-ups now. google na lang for more info, sis.

diane: i don't think merong better between china/asian cds and US cds kasi both work fine. depende na lang sa preference mo and budget, of course. parang sa sasakyan lang yan, a mercedes is way fancier than a hyundai pero pareho lang naman sila ng function and either one can get you where you need to go.

with regards sa inserts, you can mix and match with any brand as long as it's a good fit. i don't suggest using lampin with pockets. i imagine it would be quite difficult to stuff a lampin into a pocket (i've never personally tried). i don't think it would be worth the effort since traditional lampin can't hold that much. isang wiwi lang kailangan na agad siya palitan, di ba? ang pinaka standard na insert na ginagamit with pockets is microfiber (usually 3 layers). you can start from there.

you can use lampin with covers. ganon pa rin, palit agad after one wiwi pero if you use a wipeable reusable cover, okay lang. personally, i never used lampin even with covers. parang ang hassle kasi nung isang wiwi lang palit na agad e.

a lot of people are confused about liners. just remember that a liner has 2 main purposes: for stay-dry effect and for preventing poop stains. if you're paranoid about poop stains, then use liners on all your cds. but in my experience, poop stains are easy to prevent. just rinse the poop right away and don't let it dry on the nappy/insert. if ang habol mo naman sa liner is yung stay-dry effect, then useless siya with anything that already has a stay-dry lining like pockets or stay-dry inserts.
