Hi khrisee, if im not mistaken you need to strip cloth diapers when there's build up of detergent or other stuff that causes the liner or the cd to lose absorbency

I've never done it yet, but a friend said she does it once every 2 months paa daw matanggal and "cleaner" yung cloth diapers nya.

Sis khriseee, you use oxyclean? Bleach yun diba? Is that ok for cds and inserts?

STRIPPING - if may leakage problem or odor problem na ang cloth diapers due to detergent build up.. kaya dapat yung detergent na gagamitin is dapat yung best for nappies talaga.. kaya no fabric conditioner, bleach and other whitening ingredients.. because it may cause leaks, rashes to your baby and bad odor.. hi mga sis! i'm a first time mom of a 3-mo old boy did some backreading of CD part 2 thread - thanks for all your posts they were extremely helpful!!! but, since i wasn't able to read everything hope you can still answer my question..

i'm planning to buy some inserts from either sunbabies or alvababy.. which type of insert performs better in terms of absorption? (1) 3-layer bamboo or (2) the 4-layer mixed mf & bamboo?  also, do they have inserts that are already stay-dry or do i just put microfleece on top of them?

^not sure of the bamboo sis but sabi nila mas maganda daw yun over time. my inserts are the 3-layer MF and it performs well enough. 2 layer is enough for the night for my 2-month old. wala siyang microfleece cause its used on the pocket diaper. the pocket diaper has microfleece already. if you are using pocket, no need for liners (except disposable liners if you are avoiding poop stains). if you are to use diaper cover+insert, then you will need fleece liner on top. HTH.

bamboo is more absorbent than mf. yung 4-layer bamboo/mf and 3-layer pure bamboo ng alva halos pareho lang naman ng performance. some people just prefer pure bamboo dahil less stinky daw and mas trim ng kaunti. mas makapit daw kasi ang stink sa mf pero i think if it's washed properly and dried under the sun, you really shouldn't have any stink issues.

I didn't know bleach isn't allowed for cloth diapers so we've been using it. But I told the yaya to only use it for stubborn poop stains. For regular pee or not too bad poop stains we use Ivory Snow.

I'd like to try stripping, my baby's only been on cloth diapers for a month so I can probably do it by the end of May. What do you use for stripping? White vinegar only? Do I have to use boiling water pa?

thanks sis iristacey and jpeach!   i'm using a combination system of pockets and coverts+inserts.. for the covers i'll be using fleece to top the liners para easier to take out poop and stay-dry   recent member nako ng MCNP pero medyo nalulunod pa ako sa info and topics dun haha.. exciting yung group buy, i'm looking forward to take part in one.

mas absorbent yung 4 layer bamboo-mf
doubler ko kasi yung 3layer pure bamboo.. pero absorbent din talaga sya.. meron pa ngang 5layer pure bamboo, inserts yun ng baby wizard.. pero kung heavy wetter ang baby mo bili ka ng hemp inserts.. pinaka absorbent kasi yun na doubler

ang starydry na inserts lang eh yung bamboo charcoal at inserts ng bestbottom at staydry soaker ng grovia.. yung bamboo inserts naman eh safe sa bum ni baby yun nga lang di sya staydry.. wag lang yung mf kasi drying yung sa skin ni baby..

Careful with using bleach, it can break down fibers and its bad for baby's skin.

For stripping, use warm water and not boiling. I use dishwashing liquid to remove detergent build up.

White vinegar is used in lieu of fabric softeners because it supposedly softens clothes but it is also used to disinfect. It's added in the rinsing cycle.

In my experience parang mas maganda yung 4-layer MF/Bamboo mix. But better ang hemp
Meron inserts na may stay-dry. Thirsties and Flip inserts

it's advisable to change cds every 2-3 hours so that's 8-12 cds in a day. multiply that by how often you plan on doing laundry. for example, if you plan on doing laundry every other day, then you'd need at least 16-24 cds in your stash.

^hehe laging ubos ang slot sa GB kapag nago online na ako sa MCNP parang gusto ko muna e try yung lampin na diaper sis tapos covers. May nakita din ako online nagbebenta nung covers eh parang 65 pesos isa, hindi kaya mainit yun? 2 weeks pa lang din kasi si baby kaya unti untiin ko yung mga CD's tuwing sweldo.

^how much yung sa SM sis? anong brand? May nabili si MIL yung curity na brand, cover sya kaso yun nga tumatagos pa din eh kasi cloth pa din yung cover  haist kung nasa manila lang sana kami, ako na mismo titingin ng maganda
