Paleo Diet aka Caveman Diet
« on: January 31, 2012, 03:51:22 pm »
hi mga sis, have any of you tried the paleo diet? i'm going to start soon and i wanted to get ideas for buying and cooking paleo food.

for those who don't know what it is, the paleo diet is based on the idea that we would be physically and mentally healthier if we eat the way our hunter-gatherer ancestors did. that means saying NO to the following:
- processed foods
- grains (rice, oats, etc)
- sugar
- dairy
- alcohol

and saying YES to:
- animal protein
- vegetables
- fruits
- nuts

share naman kayo kung may experience kayo sa paleo diet.

disclaimer: i'm not advocating the paleo diet, since i myself haven't tried it yet. it's just something that i'm going to explore because i've heard first-hand about its benefits.

^^ I just signed up for a trial and saw the challenge on their page. was interested in joining it too!

would you kno if there are paleo kits available here? in the states alam ko meron. That would definitely make it a lot easier than "hunting" for those food items in the grocery :)

Parang ayaw ko na nito. Bawal ang wholegrains kahit brown rice?! I like the concept so I'll just do a paleo-inspired diet.

^ sis sandalwood i guess pag sanay ka kumain ng grains, sugar at dairy nakaka-intimidate talaga yung list of foods you can't eat. they say the key is to plan and prepare your meals in advance (na hirap din akong gawin hehe).

^^ sis shera nice! have fun sa trial! i don't know about paleo kits pero you can download the pdf file sa CFMNL site. and here are other sites i've been visiting:

http://whole9life.com/2011/01/paleo-poor-your-guide-to-the-grocery-store/
http://www.marksdailyapple.com
http://www.robbwolf.com/
http://everydaypaleo.com/

some of them have tips and paleo recipes. let's do this mga sis! :)

^sis! kamusta paleo diet?
hindi pala mahirap mag transition dito from my previous diet! Nakakatuwa kasi pwede fats and seasalt! May lasa lahat ng food. :) Dati, I don't eat fried foods, ang scrambled egg, luto sa teflon. Chicken breast and fish, steamed lang pwede. Natuwa ako sa bagong diet natin.

tell me if im doing something wrong:
2/16 Food:
Banana, spinach + vinegar, 2 sunny side ups.
After wod: banana
post lunch and lunch: chicken curry - coconut milk/chicken/curry/turmeric/sea salt/coconut oil
banana + orange
watermelon + mango shake (without the milk and sugar)

2/17 Food:
2 bananas
scrambled eggs with bell peper and onions
beef with onion + sea salt
pesto (basil, cashews, olive oil and sea salt)
scrambled eggs cooked in ghee

can't wait for tomorrow! lots of time to cook!

^ wow good job sis! i was so tempted to use a cheat meal over the weekend pero sayang eh. i'll save them for later pag talagang di ko na matiis.

i got coconut flour today and i'll try making coconut flour pancakes tomorrow.

ang gusto ko sa paleo diet you eat when you're hungry, and you don't need to count how many calories you're consuming.

I used my 1st cheat meal last sunday! Boo! 4/5 na lang ako. Brunch yun so Nawalan na ako gana kumain throughout the day.

2/20 Foodlist:
2 bananas
parrot fish fillet in lemon, ginger, pepper and garlic - I fried in coconut oil (mistake!)
4 pcs Bacon (seasalt + garlic)
scrambled eggs with spinach (coconut oil)
1 sunny sideup
1 orange
about 15 pcs walnuts (half)

where did you get coconut flour? I'm not really into pancakes but I guess mas ok kung mabawasan eggs sa daily food intake ko.

eat lang ba when hungry? I always eat, even when I'm not hungry :D

I hope this thread comes alive.

I'm trying to go Paleo na. I'm ok with no dairy kasi cheese and milk upset my tummy :D

Ang nahihirapan ako to let go of is bread.

i'm so glad people are becoming more open to adopting a paleo diet!

sis rae, maraming recipes for paleo bread on the internet. :) sa pinterest din, marami kang mahahanap na paleo boards with tons of recipes!

sis sarsingkit, where does your husband do crossfit? kami ni sis kachich sa libis. :) it's really a lifestyle kasi aside from eating healthy food, paleo diet practitioners also strongly recommend getting at least 8 hrs of sleep every night and exercising.

for me, yung pinaka nagustuhan ko since i switched to paleo is hindi na ako nagkaka headaches. kung meron man, mild lang and usually brought on by the intense heat.
