mga sis help naman,medyo off topic wala kasi ako makita kung saan ako maglalagay ng post..ilang taon ba yung bata bago pwede i-upo sa lap ko sa tabi ng driver's seat?kasi hubby ko gusto minsan sa harap kami upo ng 2 year old daugh namin,kaya lang takot akong baka mahuli kami ng MMDA di kasi namin alam kung pwede na.yung neighbor namin dati nakikita ko naman 2 pa nga yung anak niya,isang 2 taon saka 4 yata yung isa,pareho kasama nung nanay sa tabi rin ng driver's seat nakaupo.ewan ko lang kung nasisita yung ganon..di pa naman masyado tinted yung salamin nung kotse namin kaya kitang-kita kung saan nakaupo yung tao sa loob.

^ personally, i would never to do that. Naka-kalong ang bata sayo - paano seatbelt niya? O nakaupo mag-isa at naka-seatbelt - hindi para sa maliit na bata ang seatbelts ng kotse as is. Anong protection niya sa front passenger seat?

Safety is a priority for me. I would prefer that the child is in a carseat in the backseat. Sa ibang bansa,  child has to be in a car/booster seat until age 12 or until they reach a certain height, whichever comes first. I know we dont have laws on carseat use here but i strongly believe we should have them.

Takot a mahuli ng MMDA pero di ka takot para sa safety ng anak mo.

^^According to the law, children 6 years and below are prohibited to sit in the front seat. Kung walang car seat, it is safest to sit at the middle back seat, with the seat belt on.


When I was a child, wala rin akong car seat pero hindi rin ako pinapaupo sa harap noon, kahit wala pang seat belt law. Sa likod lang parati.


Now that I'm a mom, when my husband is driving, most of the time I sit at the back with our child (who's in her car seat) because it's more convenient to attend to her needs. Pag short trip lang (pupunta sa nearby mall), I sit in front.

sis clueless--ouch..ang hard naman  haha..hindi naman sa di ako concern for the safety of my child.may halong kambing naman yung pagkaka sabi sa akin ng hubby ko.kasi mula raw nung nanganak ako,mag 2 years na ngayon,lagi raw siya mag isa nakaupo sa harap pag aalis kaming tatlo.

siguro nga tiis-tiis lang muna.wala naman ibang pwedeng gawin kundi umupo sa likod.na-miss lang siguro ng hubby ko yung dating gawi namin na pag aalis kami nakakapag holding hands pa kami habang nag d-drive siya.

^Pwede ka namang umupo ulit sa front, but you really have to get your child a car seat para safe sya sa likod kahit nasa harap ka.

When I'm driving at kaming dalawa lang ng anak ko, I can't have her bouncing about at the back or sitting in front. Kailangan talaga ng car seat.

I'm one of the moms here who really recommend getting one for your child. Kung pinapabakunahan nga natin ang bata para hindi masyadong magkasakit o mahawa ng deadly diseases, ganun din ang car seat--added protection in case of road accidents. Para sa akin, automatic dapat yan once you acquire a car, kasama ng gas, maintenance, insurance, car seat para sa bata.

ako sa harap pa din nakaupo, my daughter stays in her carseat at the back with the yaya beside her. minsan i stay with them in the back lalo pag medyo malayo ang pupuntahan namin kasi naiinip yung anak ko pag masyadong matagal sa carseat pero mas madalas yung nasa harap pa din ako nakaupo.

I have this car seathttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004FNQGM4/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00 and it comes with a LATCH attachment. Are all cars in the Philippines made with the LATCH system na? I usually tether this to the middle back seat via anchor hook and lapbelt/shoulder belt attachment to the Hyundai car we use here in Aussie (front facing) and I'm bring it with us to use for the car we're going to get.Thanks much for any infos!

@bluegintonic - The ones that I know of na may latch are Subarus.  They actually have ISOFIX which is the EU standard equivalent of the US LATCH system.  All their cars have the lower anchors and the top tether anchors as well. 
Other cars that i've encountered that has lower and top ISOFIX anchors are the new Toyota Camry, RAV4 and Previa.  The new Ford Focus doesn't have the lower anchor but it has the LATCH top tether anchor so you still have to use the lap and shoulder belt to secure the car seat.

For subcompacts, parang wala akong nakikitang may LATCH or ISOFIX kahit top tether anchor lang.  They usually strip these features out pag dating dito to save cost.

Usually pala hindi alam ng mga sales agents kung ano yun LATCH or ISOFIX so you have to visit the showrooms to check the particular model/variant to verify.

when did you shift your kids from a rear facing car seat to a front facing one? my daughter prefers to sit on my lap facing the traffic rather than stay at her rear facing car seat but i dont know if its too early to invest in one.

sis fairywinkle, if you are holding hands with your husband in front, that means you only have one arm around your kid if you're sitting in front. that's not safe talaga. tiis na lang muna si hubby mag-isa sa harap or bring your yaya (if you have one) so someone is with the kid in the backseat and you can be in front

^I did at 1 yo and 9 kg (we have a convertible one--rear facing converts to forward facing). How old/heavy is your child? There are forward facing car seats that allow your child to use it from 9 mo-12 years, like Mothercare (discussed a few pages back). I guess mas masusulit mo the earlier you buy it.

Thanks sa info  I was thinking of an Altis lang muna kasi we don't need that much space naman lalo't hindi naman kami lagi nasa Pinas.I guess Altis falls into the subcompact category of sedans? sana kahit top tether meron...I'm scared to death na walang car seat ang toddler ko.Sana maging law na rin kasi na dapat lahat ng cars at may bata dapat naka-car seat na sa Pinas, after all may car sila, it won't cost much more to get a proper carseat, IMHO. Lalo safety naman ng kids ang pinag-uusapan.Anyway seatbelt nga hindi rin yata law di ba? Correct me na lang if I'm wrong.


^^ sistah: depends sa weight and height ng baby mo...may kids na matangkad by nature so mas maaga nakakaliitan ang rear facing.I suggest buy ka na lang ng pwedeng rear & front facing para mas matagal ang gamit nya.Tama si sis DV. I changed her to front facing at 1 year,3 months kasi maliit naman siya weightwise kaso mahaba lang.

^no problem sis.  The altis falls under the compact class category, same as the ford focus, honda civic, etc.  So there is a good chance that it has top tether anchor.  Sana.  But ang napapansin ko lang kasi if the model is manufactured specifically for the SEA market, walang mga ganito.

May seatbelt law naman.  Hindi lang consistent ang implementation.

@sistah: Rear facing is safer so try to RF as long as possible.  But if pasok na yung height at weight sa front facing pwede na.  Parental discretion na lang.  My daughter is still RF in her infant car seat at 11 1/2 months, 8.5kg.  We still have 1 click left sa headrest/shoulder strap before she maxes out the height of her car seat, sa weight naman, up to 13 kg so ok pa.  Sa tinign ko makakalakihan nya by height and not by weight yung infant car seat nya ngayon.  Shift na kami sa convertible later pero RF pa din muna hanggang ma max out yung height (1 in from top of shell) or weight (18kg/40 lbs).  Ang wish ko sana umabot sya ng 2 yo bago kami mag FF.

we used a chicco car seat since newborn. ok naman sha. mahimbing si baby during our travels. kaya lang as she grow older ( 6 months na siya) ayaw na nya. maybe because medyo masikip yung chicco. so ithink mas ok ang graco na car seat kasi my kuya used this even after one year old na yung baby nila.

Hindi ko alam na meron carseat na hindi tama ang fit sa kotse, akala ko standard amg sizes nila.

Dati naman wala car seat sa eldest namin kasi di ako marunong magdrive noon, iba na situation ngayon eh kaya gusto ko bumili ng infant car seat for our 2nd baby, gusto ko kasi ako maghatid at sundo sa eldest namin sa school.

Mas maganda siguro yung mga convertible, magagamit ng mas matagal. Im driving a suzuki swift, ano kaya infant car seat ang kakasya?

Not safe kung kalong lang si baby. Sobrang delikado. Need talaga ng carseat. Reasonable price mga carseat sa mothercare. Madrid model samin. Totoo nga, depende sa car what type ok na carseat. Yung mothercare madrid mas ok sa SUV compared to sedan type. Usually, SUV gamit namin pag alis kasama si baby. Last saturday, sedan ginamit namin... Hindi ok. Nakatabingi.

Sis, anong car seat ang ok ang fit sa honda city 2011 model? I was about to buy this graco car seat na convertible and just read from here na pwedeng hindi fit sa lahat ng cars ang car seat. Am due in May at gusto ko na na nakacar seat si baby from the hospital. Thanks.
