My Auntie just had her 2 weeks holiday sa Pinas. :)

It depends on what you plan to do, and for how long you'll stay. Most of your budget will go to pasalubongs but if won't count that, sa mga outings, dinners, treating out family and friends, and maybe some shopping for you.

For cash maybe 3K is safe plus your CC

then we're planning a family trip to batangas lang naman, around 20+ kami dun then I booked an overnight stay sa the boutique sa tagaytay then we're flying off to camiguin....

I usually just bring 1k saka cc. Good na yun for me for 2 weeks. But I travel usually. As much as possible, 2-3 OOT trips. Hindi ako nagsa-shopping na when I go home (shopping is my biggest travel pet peeve-iniisip ko pa lang nabubuwisit na ako lol) so nakakatipid ako dun.

Batangas naman isn't that expensive, depending on your itinerary and where you stay. :)

edited to add:

Tips on how to save (won't necessarily work for everyone):

1. Di ko na keri manlibre kapag lumalabas. Ang mahal na ng food sa Pinas as in tapos liit pa ng servings. Much as I want to, sensya na lang sa friendly friends.

2. I use public transpo (jeep, lrt) when I go out.

3. I paid for our OOT trips in advance.

4. As much as possible, I make my sister cook for me bwaha. Inalila eh no. I still prefer home-cooked meals kasi saka masarap siya magluto saka mas matipid talaga.

5. Again, I don't shop. 'Di ko din nagagamit pagbalik dito.

Since xmas kayo uuwi, magastos talaga yan. Pamasahe pa lang. Still, iba talaga Pasko sa Pinas. Sobrang saya so have fun. :)

@sis nadialicious16 ang laki naman ng budget ng aunt mo... 100k! Pano nagastos lahat yun, just curious lang, if that's ok.

As to answer the TS question, I guess your budget will depend on sino, at ano ba ang sagot mo/ililibre mo. Like Xmas and New Year, ikaw ba sasagot ng buong Noche Buena at Medja (sp?) Your family outing sa Batangas, ikaw ba sagot ng accomodations and food and transpo for all 20 people?

I guess my point is, since mukhang plano mo makita lahat ng kapamilya mo, ngayon palang, you should set the boundaries. Ex. "ako sagot ng litson sa Noche Buena" or "ako na bahala sa pag arkila ng private plane to Batangas :D" Hinde naman nila siguro mamasamain yun, diba? Better set the expectations, para hinde ka mamulube. Good Luck! :D

I guess sa shopping sila mas napa gastos. Dalawa kasi sila. Tapos wala naman kaming kamag anak sa Manila kaya Hotel sila for 2 weeks. And then umuwi sila ng province for 3 days ayan na ang mga kamag anak nag sulputan.

Uuwi rin ako next year, as much as possible ayoko gumastos ng kagaya ng Auntie ko.

sana lang makatulong ako..sabi nila isa ako sa mga kuripot na kamag-anak hahahha!!but i'm just answering them back na :i'm not i'm just a wise spender!!"lolz..para makatipid..unang-una, ayokong umuwi ng peak season pwera na lang kung importanteng-importante. And with regards sa mga pasalubong, per family siya- mas mapapagastos kayo kung bawat member ng family ng relatives nyo is pasasalubungan nyo. Mga immediate family lang ang may individual pasalubong. Sa mga gimik naman, yung mga friends ko -they always insist na share-share sa expenses. Saka i dont bring the image kase na galing ako ng abroad marami akong pera..saka a lot of people now are financially educated alam nila na mahirap kumita ng pera at lalong mahirap ang malayo sa pamilya para kumita. So if your friends are really concern to you they will not allow you to shoulder all the expense. Sa mga outings, pag buong family ang kasama we make sure na malapit lang..kase transpo palang ang gastos na. Ako lang saka si hubby ang umaalis pag plane ang kailangan sakyan.. Yan po ang sistema ko pag nagbabakasyon kami. Minsan may sobra pa sa budget minsan kulang pero minimal lang naman ang dinadagdag di ko kailangan ipangutang. Btw, im not cc user.
Sana po makatulong!

^ Thanks for sharing sis. Mag share din ako dito after my holiday. 1 and a half more months to go na lang.  ;D

uyy thanks sa mga tips sis! very helpful

@sis midnight, maganda yung suggestion mo na iset ko na yung limit kung ano ano ang sasagutin namin sa noche buena and media noche, initially I was planning to buy lechon sana for noche buena (or yung pritson) I'll try to discuss with hubby kung ano ano ba ang sasagutin namin for these meals

tapos yung trip namin sa batangas sagot na namin lahat ng accomodation, bumili kami ng deal sa cashcash pinoy (ata nakalimutan ko na) for accommodation with breakfast na yun....

ahhh ang isa pa palang malaking gastos namin we're planning to rent a car sa pinas while we're there....

siguro nga next time pag lalabas kami with friends dapat maglimit lang kami ng kung ano lang ang treat namin, normally kasi parang automatic kami ang sagot eh....

hay ito yung isa sa mga dahilan kaya ayaw ko muna umuwi ng Pinas, lols, kailangan muna mag ipon ng budget, magastos talaga pag umuuwi sa Pinas, ok lang sana kung plane ticket lang eh, kaso iisipin mo pa yung mga gagastusin mo dun,he!he! anyway share ko lang yung budget namin ng husband ko with my 1  year old son last umuwi kami, 1 month kami nag stay at nagastos namin mga nasa 500k ata, wala kami OOT trip, but we celebrate kasi 1st birthday ni baby at umabot yun ng 200k, tapos yung baptism naman niya mga 30k ata kasi sa house lang reception at nag share yung sister ko, tapos naalala ko mga other expenses namin is yung groceries, dining out, pagpapaluto ng food sa bahay, tapos nagpabili ako ng 4 sako ng rice para pamigay sa mga relatives namin, both sides, nagbigay din ng cash sa mga brother and sister ng parents ko both sides din, naalala ko nga every week yung grocery namin, umaabot ng 10k,weekly lang yan ah, wala pa diyan minsan yung sa wet market, eh ang nakatira lang sa bahay namin is yung parents ko at yung 3 sisters ko,mga single pa lahat sila, yung mga bisita kasi minsan sa bahay ko na pinapakain, kaya talagang malaki gastos sa foods, pero ok lang naman samin, tinulungan din kami nung sister ko sa ibang expences, like minsan siya magbabayad pag kumain sa labas, mga ganun, tapos siya din nagpapa gas ng car, pero next time na uuwi kami, magiging practical na ako, hindi na ako mag splurge like last time, ang hirap naman kasi hindi abutan yung mga relatives na pumupunta sa bahay, nahihiya ako, sana next time magawa ko,he!he!

i wnet home last Undas. 3 weeks lang. And I spend more than 100k. Plus me balikbayan box ako nyan huh!

So agahan tanghalian at hapunan ako yun. Me out of town trip to Boracay, Cebu and Quezon.

is this budget for your pocket money alone or overall travel expenses? kasi kung lahat lahat na 100K pesos is kulang n kulang. madalas 100k for me is only for pocket money, as in pang lamyerda k lang, pangbigay bigay kung may hihingi and pang libre at konting shopping, ay plus any medical treatment n gagawin sakin (but i only shoulder co-payments since i have insurance)

s 100K wala p dun yung airfare, accomodations and mga pasalubong n pinamili ko before ako umuwi. and since i dont get paid vacation lagi ko din sinasama s cost ng trip ko yung bayarin ko s time n wala akong work because of course i also need to save for that.

When we last went home, medyo may malaking budget talaga kasi we had our church wedding. Pero from friends, they said that their budget is usually from $2-5k. ;) I guess I'm really lucky in a sense na halos di ako gumagastos kapag umuwi kami, not unless mga binili ko na for myself. That's the same din kapag nagbabakasyon. Masaya talaga sila na nakauwi kami.

im new at girl talk and my first time to post here. quite interesting topic really. we're an ofw family and we go home atleast once a a year. my husband sometimes go home twice a year.

budget....budget....the most challenging part of vacation specially for OFWs. Definitely, it depends on what you intend to do, kung may out of town trips, occassion na dapat gastusan, pasalubong...I suggest you list your activities and corresponding budget.  For example, if you intend to visit a relative in a far province, consider expenses like, renting vehicle, staying in hotel, outing, etc.  How many times are you going to have meet ups.  Do you intend to give money to anyone? Ako, I make a list of these things and set a budget.  Malayo pa vacay, nakabook na ako kung may out of town trips.
