Budget when you go back to the Phils for vacation

My parents are based abroad too and when they go to the Phils for holiday, ngpapa-cargo na sila ng mga essentials na mura lang abroad. Even the most mundane things like cooking oil, cleaning detergents, etc. Mostly grocery stuff. It works naman because whatever cash they take with them, at least they will get to spend on more important things or those impromptu expenses.

Now, am based abroad too. I won't be bringing much cash because I will be going home the same time as they will be. Ang deal ko sa kanila, i will take care of all expenses for an out-of-town trip, and that's all I will be spending for. The rest, sila na bahala sa hehe. Definitely, i will be staying within budget

2 more days to go at uuwi na rin kami. Sinend ko na sa Philippines yung pang pocket money namin $2500 = 112,000 pesos. Buti na lang malaki palitan hehe. Sana lang magkasya for 2 weeks.

Di nagkasya ang pocket money ko. Lol ! Spent 150k in 2 weeks. Napakamahal na pala talaga ang bilihin sa Pinas ! Airport taxi sucks ang metro nila parang gripo nakalimutan isara. Mahal na rin pala kumain sa Jollibee. Went to Divisoria hirap na rin tumawad parang presyong mall na rin. Mahal magbakasyon pero sulit na rin.

I had about 3,400 Canadian dollars when I went home the last time.  My out of town trips and the condo we stayed at were pretty much booked and paid for na beforehand so I only cared about transpo costs and of course I went out every once in a while to treat my family and met up with my high school, college and former work friends.  Mostly simple dinner out lang.  I brought that much because I don't have a credit card and I spent most of it for myself.  I had some dental and derma done.  Mahal ang dental sa Canada and I can't seem to find a good dermatologist where I'm at.  NEVER went shopping or threw a party or went alcohol crazy. I honestly don't get it when some people live and spend over the top whenever they're going home.  I like it better when you spend your money for yourself, in traveling to places you've never been and an intimate time with people who matter the most.

When I go home next, most likely I'll bring less money but definitely more itineraries to explore.

Uuwi kame ng Pinas next week, pero super tight ang budget namin. Hindi na nga talaga namin plano umuwi but my mom sponsored our tickets (3 tickets - me, hubs and son). Mom ko uuwi din, sabay kame so sagot nya ang food namin at other expenses kaya tipid. we only plan to go to Bicol pero eto sagot na ni mother. Roadtrip din with friends so sa gasolina at pagkain lang kame mapapagastos ng malaki. Usapan namin ng asawa ko na uuwi kame para makita lang ang family nya and my parents na uuwi din ng Pinas. Mga 70-80k lang ang cash namin + CCs. pero sabi ko do not use the CCs na. kaya na yun, total hindi naman kame mag oout of town na gala talaga eh. i'll be staying there for 3 weeks, so most of my expenses eh sagot ni motherhood since 2 weeks eh sa Pinas din sya. my hubby and son will stay there for 5 weeks. after i leave, dun sila sa inlaws ko. libre naman sila sa lahat. Our son's bday party sa Jollibee eh shoulder naman ng inlaws ko. So ang gastos nalang namin eh, foodtrip (trip namin mga Jollibee, street food, mga kainan na hindi namin makain dito sa Dubai). no shopping kasi mas mura mamili dito. Hindi na din namin plano magtreat ng paisa isa. Magpapa swimming nalang kame, mga max of 15k budget namin dito. private pool lang in Laguna.

Pero, we spent more than 30k pesos na for the pasalubong sa mga immediate family. chocolates, chips, canned goods, mga damit at sapatos at bags. we went to outlet mall para makakuha ng good deals. Not bad na din

My mom and stepdad din eh mga 70k + Ccs lang din budget for their 13 days stay in Manila.

Super tipid na bakasyon to. Kaya sabi ko talaga, next time na uuwi kame, dapat may savings na talaga ng maka ikot man lang ng ibang lugar satin because i've never been to palawan or boracay man lang

ayaw ko na mag-compute kasi sumasakit lang ulo ko  basta i set aside amount to treat my set of friends (mga 3 sets), relatives, in-laws etc. aside from pasalubong at yung pinapa-sea cargo na mga groceries etc like cooking oil, tissues, detergents, canned goods na mura dito sa aborad para may stock sa house pag-uwi ko and yung matira sa kanila. and always, nag-over the budget ako! this i really need to work out next vacation ko haays.

Anyways, planning to go home with 2 kids and dun mag 4th bday princess ko.  Will stay there for a month or two [textspeak!]. Problem is nagpapagawa kami house now para sa titirhan namin at kelangan pa nmin bumili ng lahat ng gamit like gas range, oven, tv, ref, matress. Sa house naka 1 million na kami aside from the furnitures and appliances. Nag spend husband ko not thinking na magtatagal kami sa pinas and need ko money. The problem is jobless ako dito so wala ako sariling money. My family and friends parang di nila alam yun? Expected pa rin nila na sagot ko lahat. How can i tell them na hanggang ganito lang sagot ko pag lumabas kami? Or sa house na lang kami para tipid? May 6 boxes na ko napuno pambigay sa kanila. Pero iba talaga mentality ng pinoy. Akala yata milyonaryo ako.

I can add a bit more to this budget, but to be spent on our family only - wala ng sabit if we want to go to boracay or elsewhere.

Usually around 1k/ day maliban nalang kung mag shop around 5k sa shopping.

Sa food naman kasi, my family and friends always treat us. I try to treat them pero lagi unahan sa bayaran.

^Tama. Kaya ako ang sinasabe ko sa sarili ko palagi di ko sila obligasyon, naghirap ako magtrabaho at uuwi ako ng pinas para magbakasyon at magrelax.
Kahit sa kamaganak ang binibigyan ko lang ng pasalubong yung mga close ko talaga hindi yung paramdam pag may kelangan.

Share ko lang may isa ako friend namigay sa mga kamaganak nya ng tag 500 pesos sa mga kamaganak ayun imbes matuwa at pasalamat ayun nagreklamo pa bat 500 lang daw. May mga tao talagang akala e namumulot lang ng pera sa ibang bansa.

Agree, since wala pa kameng sariling house sa Pinas nagrerent kame ng condo paguwi namin, mahirap pag nakatira both sides, from Almusal, Tanghalian, Merienda at Dinner e ikaw lahat, plus di kapa makakaalis ng basta basta kase lahat gusto sumama.

ginagastos lang namin kung ano ang kaya namin. it's usually around 50k for 45 days.

madalas din ako tumingin ng mga deals online. baka makatyempo ng buffet hahaha..

as for kamag-anak, keber sa kanila. what's important for us are our immediate families. sa kamag-anak, chocolates lang at pare-pareho para walang inggitan. for friends, alam naman nila na wala akong work, so i tell them frankly na chip-in kami. ok lang naman sa kanila.

First time I was back home in 10 years just 2 years ago and I did not realize that I've been spending P10k/week. I got too excited pampering myself and with all the reunions. Kaya next year, I'm gonna set a budget. For 4 weeks, hopefully P100k would be enough.
