All About DSLR Cameras [Thread 4]

Hi everyone, pahelp naman. Boyfie is wanting to purchase a cam, he's overseas so nahihirapan akong icontrol ang biilhin nya. He wants this fuji dslr, i dont know what model pero naamaze talaga sya. We both dont know much sa cameras, lasT purchase i made was in 2008 pa for a pink casio, na halos itapon ko na after purchase, nakakabwisit kasi i bought it, cause it was pink. Clueless ako sa features, akala ko pag 12mega pix eh okay na agad. So ayun, i need help.

I wanted to buy an olympus tough dahil sa beauty fix nya, parang ang ganda ng colors, but once na upload na sa net, it still failed my expectations. So we want a dslr, medyo nagtatalo lang which one to buy. Ive always appreciated shots made by a canon.

Can anyone suggest yung magandang brand and or model na pwedeng bilihin, one that can last for long. Gusto ko lang naman is vibrant colors, durable.. Usual subject of the pictures would be nature, we both love the beach, tas tao, friends... Ganyan lang..

Id appreciate your opinions for other point and shoot cams, and other dslr, thanks thanks!!!

Hello guys lemme introduce my photog equipment:

1.) Canon EOS 550D
2.) EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
3.) Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC

Actually the 15-85mm lens is from Infomax. Very rare ang lens na 'yan and usually ino-order siya kesa sa binibili sa shop. However, those hours of waiting were worth it. (:

Good news to everyone: I have a Canon EOS 60D na!

Hahaha, gagawin pang good news 'to, but anyways, it's better top upgrade if you're grown out any entry-level models (;

One reason why I chose the 60D:
1.) Kumbaga, parang siya 'yung "mediator" between xxxD and xxD models (which includes the 7D since it's the only xD model with APS-C sensor).
2.) Sayang ang EF-S lenses -- not compatible with full-frames.
3.) Articulate LCD monitor.

Sis, don't be intimidated. I felt the same when I got my very first DSLR. I didn't touch it for a couple of days. When I finally picked it up, I was shooting auto for weeks. I take photographs for a living now.

That's how you learn naman eh. You take it slowly (kaya sobrang inis ako sa mga taong nagsasabi na "naka-DSLR nga, auto naman kung mag shoot." --- everyone has to start somewhere). Be brave. I'm sure you'll enjoy exploring your camera's features.

i see.  anong magandang lens and flash ba sis for low/dim light events and places?

^ You need lenses with wide aperture. For events, I use 24-70mm f/2.8, 24-105mm f/4, 70-200mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.2. My flash is 580 ex II. They served me well during fashion shows, events and evening weddings.

I think you have to take most "prime" lenses, or lenses like the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 for a better experience. But if you want wider apertures on a budget, prime lenses are a better option (;

I have a kit lens: Canon EOS Kiss X2. Been using it since 2008 and so far, it's still serving me well.

Also, I alternate two lens depending on my mood but I don't bring them both:
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (this came with the kit)
Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM

May tanong saan maganda mag-aral ng photography.. kung gusto mo DIY, madami sa net then meron din sa youtube.. search the old threads din madami tips dun. Kung gusto mo naman assisted, try mo search FPPF, Laya Gerlock, mister kodaker (i forgot his name basta lalabas yan pag ni-google mo hehe). Try mo din basahin manual mo. 

About DSLR, natatamad na ko sa cam ko (D300S).. ang bigat kasi.. nag-iisip ako bumili ng bagong cam pagkuha ko ng bonus ko. Depende rin kung di ako tamaan ng kakuriputan.  Pero gusto ko yata point and shoot na lang.. madami naman ng PNS ngayon na may manual mode.. oh well.. isip isip..

^^Same here. DSLR cameras are heavy to lug around. Even if I have my Sony W80 P&S, I'm considering of buying a better P&S, too; especially that there are a lot of them of good quality and image output in the market lately (e.g. Olympus, Panasonic...) But if I do buy a new P&S, I might not be able to use my DSLR at all. Sayang naman kaya pagtyagan na lang ang pagdala, hehe

Hmmmm... actually carrying a DSLR is only ideal for mostly, travel, special events pero kapag casual lang, I think P&S.

I totally agree about the weight. I hardly bring my DSLR with me unless I'm actually working. After shooting events, it's normal to get muscle cramps(cam + batt pack + flash + fat lens).
