^The shutter won't release until the camera attains focus.  The camera finds it difficult to focus when the area is poorly lit.  You can switch the lens to manual focus mode or better yet, deploy the pop up flash so that when you half press the shutter button, it will emit multiple flashes to help your camera focus lock on your subject.

^thanks sis.   i recently tried that and appreciated manual focus more.  i think, it was more on a memory card issue.  naghang siya when i made some changes on the settings or even review photos, but i guess okay na after i did a low level format.

wow thread 4 na pala 'to. anyway, ano magandang flash for d3100? im planning to buy kaya lang nakakaconfuse yung difference ng sb 400, sb 700 and sb 900? which is better ba or may iba pang flash na mas better sa mga nasabi ko?

saka medyo nahihirapan ako maghanap ng lens for d3100 na pwede sa autofocus. nahihirapan in terms of price. pricey kasi yung lens na pwede sa autofocus sa d3100.

any suggestions? tia

^ That's the problem with entry level nikon cameras, entry level lenses won't focus on them.  Now regarding flashes, sb900 is the best among those mentioned but it is a bit heavier and bigger that the other 2.  With that said, the most practical choice would be the sb700.

and I thought having an slr will make my photos amazing.  but like what i read here from one of our sisses, just can't remember who, wala pala talaga sa pana yan. 

puro OK photos pa rin nagagawa ko, parang same lang with my point and shoot.

pero never say never pa rin ako, baka need ko lang ng better lens and flash.

I keep on searching in the internet. Found out that YN 460 II is also good entry level flash for d3100 and it's cheap. Masyadong pricey ang SB 700 eh. I'm also planning to buy a telephoto lens (probably 55-300mm) since mahilig naman ako manood ng mga band gigs so mas magagamit ko yun as compared pag wide angle lens bilhin. Newbie pa naman ako and still learning. Any comments, advices or reactions?

I've never been a fan of third party flashes/lenses so para sa akin better to save some more and wait then get the OEM.

Marie, I also have a Youngnuo (tama ba spell? hehe), 4K yata bili ko nun 2-3 years ago. Ayos naman, buhay pa siya  ngayon at okey naman.

With regards naman sa 55-300, 5.6 lang yata ang f nun pag sa 300mm? Kung banda ang kukunan mo, malamang medyo dim light yun di ba.. kung ganun, mafufrustrate ka lang kasi di mo din naman magagamit ang flash so kapos pa din sa ilaw.. nakows for sure puro grainy shots lang makukuha mo.

Yung lens naman, I suggest 35mm AFS.. yun na yata pinakamurang prime lens na may motor.

Lovehatemanila, kakasabi mo lang na wala sa pana aba eh dadagdagan mo pa ang gastos mo ah. Lol! I suggest you practice on your composition (madaming tips sa net) tapos try mo matuto rin mag-photoshop.. maski yun basic tweaking lang sa hue and saturation. That alone can spell a big difference sa pictures mo. HTH.

^^^Gamit ko sa Mac, 40dshuttercount. Kung PC ka, I think you can google for free shutter count apps.

For a beginner? I'd say Canon 450D.

mga sis ano ba mas ok dito canon sx40, canon 400d or 350D? i am saving up for dslr eh, i read sa tipid pc na for beginner mas affordable daw ang sx40 pero base sa mga reviews hindi sya masyado maganda, suggest naman mga sis thank u po!

Matagal na yung 350 at 400d.  Kung dslr ang gusto mo, at least 550d ang kunin mo.  Kung gusto mo naman ng compact camera with dslr features, check out Canon G12.
