Sis, i would recommend staying in siam area i booked our tours through my suki travel agency in binondo. The half day city tour is for free! It includes a tour to the golden buddha temple, reclining buddha temple, leather factory and gems gallery. It includes hotel transfers narin. Yung grand palace and emerald buddha separate payment yun. That's about 5k pesos with hotel transfers for 2pax. Not bad na for me kasi private tour lang for me and hubby kaya wala ng hintayan portion. Hehe half day lang yunh temples and city tour plus grand palace. We left the hotel at 8am then we finished at 12:30pm. Yung tour guide nalang ang naging official photographer namin kaya we did not have to use the tripod na.  for the chao praya princess dinner cruise, we got it for 4k pesos for 2pax inclusive of the on-board dinner buffet and hotel transfers

Here's a more detailed story of what we did on our first two days here in bangkok:

Day1: we arrived at the airport at 8:20am (thailand time). I was surprised with the very long queue at the immigration. There were really a lot of tourists from different countries! We finished at about 10am already. Our accomodation package includes airport transfers already so may nagsundo na sa amin. We arrived at the pathumwan princess hotel at 10:45am. Good thing our room was already available so we had early check in. We were surprised because there were scattered rose petals on the bed and there was a happy honeymoon chocolate for us courtesy of the hotel. They thought we were newlyweds kakatuwa! Then we headed to our way to siam paragon. Naligaw kami nung una kasi dun kami sa overpass to siam square dumaan eh dun pala dapat sa footbridge connecting to the malls. Ayun mega tanong kami sa mga thais hanggang sa nahanap din namin kaso medyo long cut na. Hehe kakatuwa mga thai kasi kahit medyo hirap sila sa english they are really trying their best hanggang sa magkaintindihan kami we went to siam center and siam paragon. We did not shop yet medyo tingin tingin muna. We had lunch at crystal jade golden palace in siam paragon. We had fried rice, fried prawn with sweet pork floss, bbq pork with honey sauce and 2 drinks for 1500baht. Then we headed to pratunam. Lakad lang ito ha. Kaya naman eh we passed by the central world mall and zen department store them we turned left. On the other side of the road are gaysorn mall, big c superstore, arnoma hotel and bangkok city inn. Then lakad lang then left ulit to platinum mall. 2 pala ito may mall 1 and 2. The smaller one has lots of bags and clothes for ladies. The bigger one mas marami na meron for men and kids. I just bought a few clothes for my family and friends kasi yung iba hindi rin ganun kamura eh. Then we stopped by swensen's ice cream muna kasi ang init eh sarap mag ice cream. Hehe we paid 162baht for 5 scoops share na kami ni hubby then we went to pantip plaza. Mahal din ng ipad2 dito kaya di na kami bumili. We exchanged our usd to baht for 31.27 at tmb currency exchange. Don't bring php sisses super lugi as in 0.49 lang rate nung pauwi naglakad lang din kami but this time we took the footbridge na. Inorasan ko eh mga 40mins from pantip plaza to pathumwan princess hotel. Sarap na magwalkathon kasi gabi na di na mainit we had dinner at the 5th avenue food court of mbk. We got the cards at the entrance then they just swipe it when you order. We paid for 598baht for a salmon teriyaki and japanese ramen plus 2friut shakes we did not explore mbk yet because we were too tired already. Good thing our hotel is attached to mbk kaya uwi na agad.

Day 2: we had buffet breakfast at citi bistro inside the hotel. There was a wide variety of food and everything was yummy!  our tour guide picked us up at 8am for the half day tour. We went to the golden buddha temple, reclining buddha temple and grand palace! Ganda lahat esp the grand palace! The place is huge and i love everything in it there were a lot of tourists. We spent 1.5hrs here then we visited the leather factory and gems gallery. After that, we had swedish massage at asia thai massage center in siam for 500baht each. Request ni hubby ito kasi sakit naraw balakang niya. Hehe then we went back to the hotel and took a nap. Our tourist guide picked us up at 6:30pm for the chao praya princess dinner cruise. The cruise dinner started at 8pm. Oh i really love this cruise! Ang ganda talaga and the food was great too! There was a live band to entertain everyone on board. We enjoyed the scenery at night ang ganda ng mga temples at night shining, shimmering, splendid nakabalik yung cruise mga 9:45pm then may sundo ulit kami pabalik sa hotel.

@sis baliya-usually yung mga regular bkk visitors, they stayed outside the shopping complex area, kasi medyo tourist spot ang prices...they stayed mga 2 or 3 stations away...tapos yung mga tipong backpackers hotel siya...ok namn yung mga area na yun...and kasi kung talagang shopping lang yung gagawin mo, mas ok na mag-stay na medyo nasa gitna, malapit sa mga shopping malls and sa chatuchak market...when we went there, may nakasabay kami na mga senior citizens na one week nag-stay to shop, i mean, mga bazaarista sila dito sa manila yata, they are staying sa chinatown, medyo 2 or 3 stations away pa dun sa pinag-stayan namin.

chinatown pala is also one of the cheapest place to buy shoes...and cheap place to stay too...yun ang di namin napuntahan nun, kasi masakit na ang mga paa namin...:-)

@sis lakwatsa-yes, maraming fruits sa bangkok...lahat yata ng sulok may makikita ka...and they are bigger than our fruits...dun sa pinag-stayan namin, may mini market sa kanto, kaya tuwang-tuwa kami pag nakikita namin yung mga prutas nila.

Thanks sisses! Super enjoy kami dito! Last day na namin today sarap ng fruits dito esp yung macopa ata yun na malaki ang sarap! Naubos nga namin yung fruit basket from the hotel eh here's what we had yesterday.

Day 3: buffet breakfast at the hotel. We went to siam discovery for the madame tussauds kasi di kami nakapasok sa madame tussauds sa hk eh dami kasing tao lage. We enjoyed this dami naming pictures. The ticket was 800baht per head. We headed to gaysorn mall via the footbridge to see my fave lv store medyo mahal compares to sg and hk but there's a tax refund naman na 7 percent at the airport pag less ito ok narin price dun but i did not buy kasi kelangan na muna mag ipon. Hehe then we went central world via the footbridge again. Laki pala ng mall na ito and malaki din siya. Then we went to siam paragon. May sale yung longchamp niya pag less tax refund then converted to peso mga 6500php yung small bag with long handle not bad narin. I super love this mall high end din mga stores! We had lunch at asian cuisine at the food hall. May 3 choices dito may indian, chinese and thai menu. Mala resto style and food court ito. The waiter hands you the 3 menus then he takes your order.then he gives you the card and you pay at the cashier before you exit. We had noodles with steamed spareribs from the chinese menu then chicken curry from the thai menu and 2 drinks. Both were yummy! Our total bill was 563baht. Then we went to the mall's supermarket to buy pasalubongs for our relatives and friends. Dami naming nabili dito! We bought shrimp crackers with pork floss, durian chips, mango and banana wafer, sweet and spicy sampalok, chocolates and lots if lays chips! 5700baht total bill namin dito. Kukulangin na cash namin kaya we just used our credit card. We also got 5 percent discount because we have the tourist card. May discount ito sa stores in siam discovery, siam center, siam paragon and emporium. We have to buy a new luggage dahil sa dami ng mga food na nabili namin. Then we went back to the hotel to leave our things. Then we went to mbk. Hhmmm... I don't like this mall that much because i find their stuff expensive and overpriced. Wala akong nabili dito and di rin mashado maganda mga tinda. Nagtanong ako ng fake na tory burch purse. Nung una sabi 3300baht. Then nung paalis kami bigla sabi 2700baht then bigla naging 1800baht na. Kaloka i like the clothes in platinum mall better kaso dun naman sa sobrang dami parang nasuya ako. Hehe. Pero may nabili naman ako dun unlike in mbk na zero talaga. Then we headed to asia hotel for the calypso show we paid 3000baht for 2pax inclusive of european and thai set dinner at the hotel resto and tickets to the show with one complimentary drink. We enjoyed the show! Yung ibang performers ang gaganda mukhang babae talaga! We were seated in the first row buti they don't make fun of the guests haha! Pag ticket only without set dinner it's just 1200baht per pax. We just gave it a shot kasi it's our first time in bangkok and baka after ilang years chaka kami babalik. Di kasi mag eenjoy bata dito so di ko rin maisasama anak ko dito. But i can say that the show was worth it. Kakatuwa talaga then humabol pa kami sa night market in siam market. Reasonable naman price dito kaya may nabili rin ako then nung pabalik kami mga 10:40pm naglilihpit na sila eh maaga pala nagsasara ito. May sinasabi yung tour guide namin na night market eh letter s umpisa kaso under renovation daw ngayun.

^ Sis, ang fun ng trip mo sa BKK.  I love Siam Paragon too.  Kumpleto sa designer brands and mababait ang SAs sa cosmetics department sa department store there.

I also don't like MBK so much but I didn't want to pre-empt you naman kaya wala akong comment. In fact, I skipped MBK last year kasi nga Platinum Mall was just across my hotel. 

Ang dami mong napuntahan na malls ah.

Sissses! Try niyo yung Terminal 21, mall siya na every floor may concept - Paris, London, San Francisco, Tokyo, Istanbul. Super astig! Even yung friend ko na tumira dito sa BKK ng ilang years natuwa nung nakita.

hi sisses, how far is chatuchak market from holiday inn/intercon? any shopping area you can recommend that's within the area of these two hotels? shopping area with reasonable prices sana. i barely have time to shop during our conference eh, isisingit lang siya talaga sa schedule.

^ Chatuchak is sa dulo na ng train line.  So malayo siya from the commercial center.

Gaysorn is near your hotel.  Erawan too.  Then there's Central department store too sa likod.  Then, konting lakad lang, you can cross over to Central World.

^ The train station is so near lang to your hotel.  Easy peasy mag-commute.  Take the train then somewhere along the way, you need to change trains yata going to Chatuchak.  Very easy naman to navigate ang train system sa Bangkok.

Hi sis marose! Yes super enjoy kami dito medyo butin nga eh mamayang midnight na flight namin sa amari watergate ka ata nagstay dati sis? Tapat nga lang talaga siya ng platinum mall. 

Sis kimdimatulac, pag masipag ka maglakad you can go to platinum mall and pratunam market. Mga 10-15mins walk from intercon. 

Sisses, share ko lang what we had this morning.:

Day 4: buffet breakfast at the hotel. We took the bts skytrain from national stadium station to chitlom station. Papunta kasi kami sa pratunam market eh. Kaya naman naming lakarin but we just wanted to try the bts experience. Hehe.  in fairness maayos naman ito compared sa lrt mrt natin.  we paid 20baht for 2pax. Pag baba ng chitlom station gaysorn mall na but sa central world kami dumaan para di na kami tatawid. I really love central world mall. pag dating namin sa pratunam market sabi ni hubby
parang divi talaga.  pero mas malinis naman siya. Ang daming good finds dito and ang mura! I bought some clothes for 65baht wholesale price minimum of 3pcs. Yung mga shirts na pambata meron 80baht wholosale price and mukhang ok ang quality. Dami sanang magandang dress dun kaso di ako nakabili kasi kontrabida si hubby eh maiksi daw mashado and baka di ko naman masuot pag uwi. Sayang talaga di bale next time pag di ko siya kasama  yung mga accessories 15baht wholesale price mura din. We also bought a big luggage there kasi marami kaming nabiling food na pasalubong eh di na kasya sa luggage namin. 2300baht bili namin pero ok lang kasi magagamit naman next time.  then tumawid ulit kami to platinum mall because there's the taxi stand. We took the taxi na coz we were in a hurry na kasi our check out time is at 2pm eh aayusin pa namin mga pinamili. Pag sakay namin sabi ng driver 100baht daw to our hotel. Then i said are we supposed to use the meter? Di siya nakalusot thenhe said ok. 47baht lang metro namin but we gave him 60baht nalang.

To those who are coming here who love to shop, i would suggest that you check out pratunam market first before going to other shopping areas. It's really much cheaper there and there are a lot of good stuff too

^ Yes, sis, sa Amari Watergate nga ako nag-stay during my last Bangkok trip.

Next time pupuntahan ko ang Pratunam market at ang grocery - for pasalubong and ingredients for Thai dishes I cook at home.

I rode an elephant in Siam Niramit. I paid 100-150/baht for  15mins then the veggies for feeding the elephant i bought for 25baht (estimate)
- beware lang mabaho talaga yun elephant. Meron sa Siam  Niramit yun mas bata/baby elephant ang  cute
