^thanks sis. Our travel date is from March 13- 17, 2011. I'm excited na. I'm considering accommodations in Siam or Pratunam areas. Okay ba magstay in Pratunam? I heard that there are street markets there. Gaano sya ka-crowded?

di ganun ka-sing sikip ng nasa divi, pero tolerable naman siya...basta, ingat lang sa mga gamit, kasi may mga alleys na medyo masikip daanan at talagang nagkakabungguan kayo...especially at night...kasi may mga night markets din...

@yby2476, thanks. i booked a service apartment in silom area. It's very near daw sa train station. May nakapagDIY ba sa inyo sa Ayutthaya?

kami we went to bangkok and ayutthaya on our own...mas mahal kasi kung travel agency pa...

madali lang naman pumunta ng ayutthaya from bangkok...there's this station, hua lampong yata, baba ka dun, sasakay kayo ng train papuntang ayutthaya...mga 2 hrs ito...then baba kayo sa mismong ayutthaya station. pag baba niyo, either sumakay na kayo ng tuktuk from the station, or yung ginawa namin, tumawid kami then sumakay ng barge, tapos from the other side, naglakad-lakad muna kami...medyo malayo na malapit yung unang temple from the barge...around 200 meters,isip namin kasi since yung 200meters eh parang 2 beses na lakad sa isang olympic size na pool...:-) pero pagod siya...then from there, nag-hire na kami ng tuktuk...kasi sabi nga nga tuktuk driver, its impossible to walk around ayutthaya...:-) pwede naman, kaso sabi nga namin, our mind is willing but our body is complaining na...:-)

our tuktuk driver charged us  200baht each, for a 6 temples yata for a 5 hrs ikot...pero kung mas adventurous ka, you can rent a bike, mas mura kasi siya, way way mura kaso nakakapagod, dahil balye-balye ang pawis mo dun (you will cross pa kasi a big bridge, parang san juanico) mosly europeans ang nagre-rent ng bike...then isasakay mo pa kasi siya sa barge nga...

pag pumunta ka ng ayutthaya kahit i-skip mo na yung reclining buddha sa bangkok...pero mas wow pa rin sieympre ang angkor complex ng cambodia kaysa ayutthaya...but still its worth a visit the old capital of thailand...:-)

yes sis bruce_lyn cebu pac din kami.. sabay nga tayo.. san kayo manggagaling manila ba? ano 22loy ba kayo?  mukhang okey naman yata sabi ni ni sis mickay...

hi everyone, my fiance and I are planning to have our honeymoon in bangkok. I hope I'll learn a lot from this thread How much do you think we need to allot on our trip, inclusive of all expenses (air fare, tour, accommodation, food)?

sis sharks, it would depend on the airline that you will choose and the hotel that you'll be staying at. we got our cebu pac tickets for 15k for 2pax (hubby and i). then sa hotel, we chose to stay at pathumwan princess hotel in siam area inclusive of roundtrip airport transfers and buffet breakfast then we also got the city tour, grand palace and emerald buddha tour and chao praya princess dinner cruise for 2. yung 4d3n hotel accomodation plus the tours cost 32575php for 2pax na. then yung pocket money we are planning to bring 15k baht plus usd para sure lang

^ would it be cheaper if we book through a travel agency? i came upon this website www.gotravelunlimited.com, but i think airfare is not included in the package.

Ako sis lagi sa travel agency para with airport transfers and breakfast na. I tried booking directly thru the hotel website pero mas mahal eh

-sis pwede ganun din, pero kasi kami nag-bus na pabalik...malayo kasi yung train station...sinabi namin sa tuktuk driver na dun kami sa bus station na pabalik ng bangkok...meron din na mga shuttle bus, naka-park na sila minsan sa mga temples, pero siyempre mas mahal yun...

pwede ka rin mag-bus from bangkok to ayutthaya...2 hrs din ang biyahe yata...forgot na...sa mo chit bale ang bus station...medyo malayo na malapit sa mo chit mrt station...ito yung station kung papunta ka ng chatuchak, last station din siya...ang siste lang, kasi kung bus medyo kalaban mo naman eh traffic...kaya nung papunta kami, nag-train kami, pero nung pabalik nag-bus na...mas mura ang train kaysa bus pala...

^Thanks for the tips and info. Will keep those in mind. We are going to spend four days there. Here is our tentative IT:

1st day

8:30 am- ETA at the airport
2:00 pm- check-in
(Don't know what to do yet)

2nd day
Ayutthaya

3rd Day
Grand Palace and Pho
Shopping

4th day
Shopping (chatutak)- I understand it is open from Friday afternoon till Sunday.

5th Day (Saturday 12:00 am)
flight to MNL

^Ay talaga, sis. Sayang . May nabasa ako open daw sya from Friday afternoon. Oh well, baka hindi yun latest info.

^some stalls do open on Fridays but in the afternoon na. I remember in one of my business trips in BKK I was able to buy some household stuff in Chatuchak on a late Friday afternoon. But ang weekend talaga ang open lahat ng stalls. If you go on a weekend, agahan mo lang punta at marami masyado ang tao pag bandang 11AM onwards.

We just got home last Saturday.

We went to Chatuchak on our last day in Bangkok (Friday). Sayang nga punta namin kasi majority of the shops were closed. At around 9:00 am, nag-bubukas pa lang yung iba eh we had to check out by 12 from the hotel so di na kami nakapag-stay until afternoon.

sunday kami nagpunta nun, pero ang dami pa ring tao...whole day yata kami nun sa chatuchak...tapos nung gabi, nag-malling pa kami sa downtown bangkok..kailagan pag nasa chatuchak ka, alam mo kung anong bibilhin mo, kasi sa sobrang daming merchandise, mahiilo ka nga talaga...

i like the street food sa chatuchak...ang dami...:-)
