Hi sis! Thanks for sharing that.  Actually, I am already in constant communication with my cousin who lives in Toronto. His foster parents who are apparently my 3rd degree aunt, will provide an invitation letter for me to support my tourist visa application. The thing is, I really really have to  convince the embassy that I will just stay in Canada for 6 months. I know it will be tough coz the officer will rely on the documents which I will be sending. I don't mind getting a nanny job even if I am a registered nurse. The most important thing is I get myself to Canada.. I've been praying so hard for this..

That's awesome khymmmm! Since you've mentioned you're a nurse or you went to school for nursing, it might be helpful if you don't mention that to the officer once you go on the interview. Filipinos are known as nurses in North America. Both US & Canada know a lot of Filipino nurses would like to stay. Example lang ha, one lady I know was once a visitor here. She stayed for almost a year. Last December 2011, she has to exit Canada since the tourist visa is done. she had no choice but to go back to the Philippines. Having said this, she renewed her tourist visa in Manila and returned here in February 2012. Okay na sana masaya sya with another 1 year visa renewal but by the time she landed Toronto, tinatakan lang sya ng 1 month. Sad to say, she had left and is now back in the Philippines.

But regardless, one of the other ways to convince the officer on your interview is getting a letter from your current employer in the Philippines. That states that you're employed. Better yet, if you're involved in a church ministry or any org, get a letter that you're an active member etc etc para mabilog mo sila babalik ka kahit hindi

Sad to say, there wouldn't be any interviews because the Canadian Embassy now is relying on the documents that you send to them via courier.. Would it be advisable to have an agency fix it for me? I'm afraid I might miss something..

^naku sis, wala.. para ngang di nasend yung resume ko sa email eh..  Not working daw yung email nun kaya bumabalik sakin yung mail ko..
Yep I am a nurse, 1 year lang akong nurse sa secondary hospital dito, kasama na dun yung 3 months na pagvolunteer ko..

so possible pala tayo makarating sa canada as a tourist then hanap ng work dun kahit hindi nursing field. anong mga documents ba titignan sa embassy?

^i think pwede naman pero syempre malaking pera ang gagastusin kasi malaki ang show money and it would help if you have hotel reservations na unless you have relatives sa canada that would provide accomm for you. medyo rigid ang interview because you have to prove na "vacation" talaga ang intention mo and sure na babalik ka sa pilipinas.

Hi Khymmmm I'm not sure if it matters [textspeak!] your papers/credibility would be the same whether you DIY or you go under an agency- just my opinion and I can also be wrong. Basta if u go under tourist visa, sama mo sa prayer the officer who will welcome you at the airport here. Nasa kanila din how long ang tatak ng visa mo regardless Kung 10 years pa ang na grant sa yo ng canadian embassy in the Philippines. Like what I shared to you earlier, actually it was our pastor na ganon nga. May parang 5 years visa nga sya but when she arrived in the airport, tatak sa kanya allowed to stay fir a month only so now sa Philippines na ulit sya.

my boyfriend asked me to accompany him this August kasi mag aaral siya dun this coming semester, sabi niya email ko daw brother niya to send me an invitation para makapag tour ako dun. Masarap pakinggan, it gives me hope na sana makapag tour ako dun this year since may US visa naman ako. Kaya lang di naman assurance ang pagkakaron ng US visa  na mabibigyan ako:)  Ang iniisip ko lang if ever na mabigyan ako, malaki kaya ang chance na makapag hanap ako ng work dun kahit caregiver lang or food attendant?  Graduate ako ng nursing at hrm, may experience na ako sa fastfood pero matagal na, [textspeak!] akong experience as nurse hirap makakuha e.  Sugal din kasi pag pupunta ako dun, kailangan kahit papanu magkakawork ako para naman di ako palamunindun hahaha tsaka mahal ng pamasahe grabe mauubos ang naipon ko dito.  Magkano kaya magagastos if ever magkaron ako ng employer dun then icoconvert tourist visa ko to working visa?

unlike in the US where marami businesses willing to accept illegal workers, Canada's system is quite tricky.

mahirap mag convert ng tourist visa to working visa. lalo na ngayon that the economy is not doing well. there are a lot of talks going around (check yahoo.ca news) about the immigration system being overhauled.

the supposed employer must present very valid reasons, why you (a tourist) should be hired, when the business can just hire any local.

you have to prove strong ties that you will come back to the phils. yung 6mos to stay, parang it will be an immigration red flag.

better to be honest with what you declare (profession, length of stay, etc.) mahirap na baka ma deny worst blacklisted.

^that's true. Hubby and I went to Canada 2 yrs ago (hubby has a Canadian citizen sister) on a tourist visa. I stayed there for 1.5mos while si hubby, 3.5mos. We went there in the hopes of getting a job -- any job. May pinakilala sakin brother-in-law ko na recruiter ng IT companies (pinoy din) pero as much as he wants to refer me to his clients (qualified naman daw ako), he can't. Kasi wala ako legal papers to work there. Si hubby naman tried sa mga tabi-tabing stores like small restos, gas stations, small shops, pero walang gustong tumanggap kasi wala sya SSN number (social security number). Kung tutuusin, Matagal na yung stay namin dun pero bigo pa rin. Not unlike US na marami tumatanggap

So I suggest you get a working visa from the Philippines.

mga sis may bayad ba LMO?kasi yung cousin ko naglabas ng 11k para daw sa LMO , pinagbayad daw sya ng agency nya, nag apply sya as 711 store manager, ang name ng agency nya is Cleopatra international, sa cubao ang location, nag check kami sa poea legal naman daw, and sabi may nakakaalis naman kaso matagal, nagwoworry kami baka ma peke sya

^hi sis jhandee.. makikisagot lang ha. there is no fee for LMO. this is Labor Market Opinion-- meaning this is a proof that a Canadian employer did not find any Canadian citizen to fill in the labor/manpower need/gap in his/her company, that is why they hire foreign workers. this is provided by the HRSDC. there are lots of agencies talaga that asks for fees, although di naman sila mga fake. but bear in mind also that the Canadian government is against this kind of fraud, please read CIC for that matter. any worker who is hired to work in Canada should not pay any placement fees, including airfare, because it is the responsibility of the employer. fees only paid by the foreign workers are visa application fees(7k plus) and medical examination fees.   :)HTH
