Kulang kulang sa libro and other necessary stuff. They will just prolong the agony of those students. Like this one. Ok dagdagan ang school years then bahala na kayo. Edi walang nawala sa mga pondo nila. Yes this is a good idea kasi ganito ang system sa mga rich country.

Pwede naman next year or after two years basta ba planado lahat eh.

I agree with most of the posts here.  Ang complaints naman are mostly about the logic behind the implementation and the way it's going to be implemented.  Honestly, it doesn't matter even if they add 5 more years pa sa school levels, for as long as they don't improve the facilities, quality and even add teachers, walang mangyayari.  Mahirap na we keep on wanting to follow other countries, pero yung mga dapat maimprove yun ang di ginagawa.  Imagine having 3 shifts elementary and high school classes!  Add those without class rooms pa, studying all together in the school quadrangle or under the trees!  Tapos ginawang k-12??  Ano yun?!  Adding levels is definitely not the solution for our students to be more competitive, its in the quality.

For me in the end, dagdag kurakot na naman yan.

I think they should focus more on improving the quality of education rather than increasing the number of years.
I hope that the increase in the number of years will not result in burn out.
Paano na yung mga may balak mag Law or Medicine? Sobrang haba na ng length of time needed for study.
For medicine, 4 years of pre - med plus 5 years of med school (including internship na) plus 3 to 5 years of specialization plus  1 to 2 years of sub-specialization. Kawawa naman ang parents and students.
In my opinion, they should have made further studies and consultations with parents, added more classrooms and teachers before they decided to implement this.

Dapat kasi quality of education and inaayos ng government, hindi length or number of years in school.

Lalo ako nainis to the max nung nakita ko sa news kaninang umaga, may mga students na grade 11, nasa labas ng school at dun nagkklase. Kawawa naman. Nakaupo sila sa ground. Ano ba naman???!!!

Marami na rin teachers ang nagrereklamo. Kulang sila, there are some professors na nagvolunteer na lang din turuan ang mga students dahil kulang ang teachers.

Found this on the web: http://www.deped.gov.ph/cpanel/uploads/issuanceImg/K12new.pdf

It's an enlightening read.  Let's be more open about this program.

I've read it.  It all sounds so ideal and promising...in paper.  But just watching all the news last Monday night regarding the first day of school, glaringly shows why we are not yet ready for this program.  Aminin man natin o hinde, nandyan na naman tayo sa pagiging gaya-gaya sa ibang bansa, hindi natin naisip if kaya na ba natin ito.  I mean, just look at the sorry state of some of the public schools here, the usual annual problems of lack of teachers, no classrooms, dilapidated schools, etc.  I mean pano nila masasabi na:
Achieve high academic standards, especially in Mathematics, Science,
and English at all levels
• Produce graduates who are globally competitive and whose credentials
are recognized internationally

Ano ito gagawin nila while the students are studying under a mango tree or with flood water around their feet? Or to built more schools, imagine some walking for 3 hours just to attend school.  Talagang walang papasok niyan kapag ganun.  Aside from that, they are also claiming that one of the goals is the decongestion of the school system.  Really?  Adding more years will do that?  Hindi ba adding more classrooms and teachers?  Sa sobrang kulang nga some schools have 4-shifts!!  Imagine kindergarten kids starting their classes at 6am!!

6 Further, most graduates are too young to enter the labor force. This implies that those who do not pursue higher education would be unproductive or be vulnerable to exploitative labor practices.  Those who may be interested to set up business cannot legally enter into contracts. Hindi lang pala illogical goals nila, they are also encouraging people not pursue higher education. Kahit pa under K+12 program, kasi technical skills lang naman idagdag nila, in other words vocational courses.

For me, prioritize muna the current quality of education here.  Don't be too ambitious, mas marami pang pressing problems ang school system natin kesa ang pagimplement the dagdag na taon.

Kairita! >:(

DepEd wants it to be passed as a law and according to DepEd eh malaki ang chance na pumasa ito.

Dapat kasi quality of education and inaayos ng government, hindi length or number of years in school.

If private has existing grade 7, no added years. Counting the 3years of PS, 7 yrs of GS & 4 yrs of HS it meets already the required # of years under the k12 program.

Pre-school is not counted in the 12 years. Thats why its called K plus 12, Kinder plus 12 years of education. 6 years in Grade School, 4 years of junior high and 2 years of senior high.

Whats that all about nga sis? My SIL's daughter is grade 1 DLSZ where there is grade 7. According daw to their orientation, come next year grade 3 na daw yung daughter niya because according to DEPED daw grade 1 is 6y.o, grade 2 is 7y.o, grade 3 is 8y.o and so on and so forth, eh her daughter is 8y.o na next year kaya grade 3 na daw. Hindi ba magkukulang ng years of GS yung mga bata? Shouldn't acceleration be based on the childs intellectual, psychological and emotional maturity and not just age? Hope someone can enlighten me on this. TIA!

^Yes I know what the k12 program means. What I'm trying to say is if a school offers grade 7 curriculum before the implementation, walang added years. Yan naman kasi ang bottomline concern ng most parents cause that means dagdag gastos. But yung nga if the school offers grade 7 in the old setup, technically walang added years since these schools won't add years but merely make level adjustments

In the old setup, in terms of the total # of years of schooling a typical private school student who goes to a school that offers grade 7 already meets the total number of years the k-12 program requires. Sobra Sobra pa nga since these schools before requires a student goes through 3 yrs of pre school. That's why I said 3years PS, 7 years GS and 4 years HS. That's 14 years compared to the k12's 13 years. I think this is what Usec. Umali also said in the video link I shared in the few pages back.

This is the same reason why schools that already offer grade 7 previously, walang added years. Only changes level names. Like for my daughter's school, the prep level was changed to grade 1.

For private schools with grade 7, i think the proper term should be "label changes". Akala ng ibang parents what's happening is acceleration. wala ding curriculum adjustment.

Like in my daughter's case, the curriculum for prep, as it is even before k-12 program, is pang grade 1 na if you compare to the lessons of a grade 1 public school student. This year, they are Changing the level name of prep to grade 1. Same lessons pa din. If ever may changes, minimal Lang most likely. Major change is instead of wearing the typical preschooler scrub suits, they'll wear a grade schooler's uniform.

Ganito din ang nangyari with AC. Level name change lang
