hi :-) Im new and this is my 1st post :-) but have been browsing for quite a long time :-)

our interview at the French Embassy is 1st week of September. But since we are not from Manila, can you recommend a DECENT yet inexpensive place (hotel, or pension) we could stay near the French Embassy (Pacific Star).

And can you also share what proper attire/shoes should a female wear?

Are they (French Embassy Staff) still rude in dealing with applicants as per previous posts? or hindi na?

thanks in advance mga sis :)

@sammm, sis maraming decent and affordable hotels sa Makati ave. area. At least walking distance lang to the French embassy. Check na lang the hotel reviews in tripadvisor.

As to attire, casual attire na presentable is fine (di naman job interview yun). Slacks (sometimes I see naka-jeans basta yung walang butas ha) and a presentable top will be fine.

As to rude staff, as far as I can remember wala naman. Isa lang naman ang medyo taray ang dating na girl dun but not rude. More of business-like no nonsense ang dating nya. Kaya dapat ready ka din sa isasagot mo.

Hubby and I will have our interview next week there. Update na lang ako dito.   :)

Starlust, thanks for the info! bahala na, i'l just apply and see what happens. Been issued Schengen visa 3x times na naman, i'll just prove my ties to my fiance (soon to be hubby). Super appreciate it and best wishes to you! :)

chuzzle, i suggest that you have your friend make an invitation letter for you indicating that he is inviting you to his country and stay in his house for free. With that, you also have to prove your financial capacity to support your trip (airfare, food, shopping money) as well as your ties here in the philippines.

sammm, i never dress up to the nines when i go for visa interviews/applications :) just be smart and dress properly. i usually just have a blouse and jeans on :)

hefi_ness, if you have an invitation letter stating that your bf will pay for everything baka mas madali but it is still best to show your bank statements to prove that if anything happens, may money ka. they will always look for your statements.

^thanks for the advice, sis. Yes, I will try to ask him for an invitation letter. sa VSF site nakasulat parang police clearance in Spain. Ganun ba talaga ang invitation letter? I'll start fixing my documents and of course, I'll update everyone here.

^ sis not sure about the invitation letter but i guess follow what the site says or email them for clarification VSF Spain helpdesk replies naman to emails.

I have my appointment on the 21st for Malta (we need to apply through Spain), will let you know how it goes. If it's anything like the UK, it's pretty easy.

^^ chuzzle : For Spain, their invite letter needs to be secured by your host from their police station.  Your host will need to present proof that he legally owns/rents the place where he intends to host you (property title/rent contract), he will also need to state his relationship with you,  give your & his details (name, address, passport #, duration of stay). There might be an interview at the police station & also some fees to be paid to get the letter.

Got this info from our Spanish friend yesterday lang :)

thanks all for you reply. I already booked w/ Booking.com. just across the French embassy.

Im also a bit confused with this HOTEL VOUCHER thing. is a CONFIRMATION LETTER thru Email ENOUGH? we booked directly kc. yung FROM address sa email na pinadala nila yun din naman yung email address na nakasulat sa website nila.  thats for our Italy trip.
Anyway, we already have the Attestation de Accueil for our France trip.

And how did you organize the documents? one folder/envelope for all the Original and another folder for the photocopies? OR both original and photocopies in just one folder/envelope?

^1 folder for originals & 1 for photocopies. If you recall theres a checklist on the website detailing docs needed for tourist visa, use that as a guide for arranging the order of the docs.

Also, bring exact amout for your visa payment fees :)

^^ just print the voucher that you got from the email. that is enough na naman and just follow the requirements from the site but you can add other things that you think will be important like additional bank documents, employment stuff, etc.

Finally lodge my application to the French embassy. Ganun ba talga super tagal pa ng next avail date. I was given Oct 5 slot. No worries though as we're leaving December pa naman.

Anyway Question: in our detailed itinerary, do you really have to provide the consul our other Schengen itinerary? Or just for the France only? What I know Lang kase were doing Paris-Spain-South France-Italy then back to Paris. My titas will lead our travel, 2 of them are France based. Dapat ba pati hotels & sked namin on ALL other Europe countries? Parang napakadami and haba yata.

Is there any proper format for the cover letter? Baka I could borrow from any of our sisses here, Ill just tweak it of course :)

Thank you so much.

^ Yes, the itinerary should cover the entire length of your stay in Europe / the Schengen region.

@summer_princess, hubby and I will have our interview at the French embassy on Friday. I'll update this thread after. Re itinerary, what I did are the following:

1.) Cover letter summary of all our accommodations with corresponding dates. I then stapled photocopies of all our accommodation transactions i.e. email confirmation/booking reference, etc.

2.) Cover letter summary of all our transportation with corresponding dates. Same thing as above I stapled photocopies of our air tickets/train tickets/car rental.

3.) I then provided a detailed IT of our trip from start date (arrival) to end date (departure)

Medyo OC ako with the cover letter summary but I want everything na naka-ayos.  I then arranged them in order according to the list given in their website.

Re cover letter of intent, I'll PM you a copy of ours.

 :)

@starlust & @little_princess: thanks! Im done na with all the other requiremnts.

@mamasqueak: so you have a separate cover letter for your transportation? hehe pwede patingin din.

and pala sa Attestation de Accueil ko, ok lang ba na may double letter sa name ko
example "Ana" naging "Anna" sya sa Attestation de Accueil? are they strict with this kind of error?

@sis starlust - ahhhahaa! Thank you so much. He said earlier that he isn't familiar with the process, so he will ask his lawyer to get it for him. I guess, he needs to personally go to the station to get one. I'll inform him.

Is there an interview sa spanish embassy when you submit your documents?

^ sis, it depends kung saan ka mag set ng appointment. if sa VSF lang, no interview but if sa consulate, i think meron. sept 21 appointment ko for my malta visa and sa consulate ako pinapunta.

sorry, sis I am confused. I thought you must contact VSF to be able to schedule an appointment with the consulate? Tama ba?!

If you log your application with VSF, they charge about Ph1250/applicant.
I think eto yung no appearance of if you posses a valid US visa. They will forward your application with the Spanish consulate

However you email Spain embassy direct to secure appointment, they reply almost instantly.
Aside sa walang processing fee of ph1,250, you are dealing directly with the embassy itself.

@sammm re-attestation: that should be fine, sakin nabaliktad ang middle name & last name ko but it was accepted. as long as all other details on the form are correct (middle name, last name, address, passport #, etc.)
