hi evryone! I hope someone can help me with these few questions I have.My friend and I are planning to do a DIY trip to Amsterdam(1D)-Paris(4D)-Barcelona(3D), hopefully on the 3rd week of March.Should we apply at the French embassy? Can we already make an appointment for interview even before filling up the forms? Where can we get travel insurance?thank you very much!

are you planning ba to travel by train or plane? i will advise you to use train because its the scenic way to explore the french country side lalo na from Paris to Barcelona, route rin namin to bka may sale sa TGV try mo.

One of the requirements for visa application is hotel booking.
Do i have to show bookings for the whole length of my trip (3 weeks)?
I'm just wondering how this is done and what happens if the visa gets denied?

Yes, you do have to show them hotel bookings for your entire stay. The only way to go about getting your  money back in case you get denied a visa is to look for hotels that don't charge cancellation fees.

@sis Mhoirae: I presented all my booking confirmations - I printed out all the email confirmations. I booked online. Some I booked directly with the hostel, some via other websites like booking.com.

I paid 2-5 euros per booking in some, I took the risk and paid the full amount in one hostel, and I paid 10% non-refundable down payment in one hostel. I chose to pay the one in full kasi nakakatamad na maghanap ng alternative na cancellable. You'll have to be patient choosing the hotels/hostels.

Check the cancellation policy of each hotel/hostel. Some charge a booking fee (non-refundable) and some do not.

question about insurance. we'll only be staying for 7 days in Paris, ilang days dapat yung insurance na kunin ko? i read somewhere na dapat may allowance so I wan to know how many days dapat yung allowance. thanks.

^The rule is you should be covered during your entire stay in Europe. Though some would give a day or two for allowance in case something happens i.e. delayed flights, etc.

Personally I give two days allowance towards the end of my trip na. For example if my flight leaves 01Feb, covered ako hanggang 03Feb.

@m_lim, you have the correct email addy. That's the same email I used to schedule then later on cancel my application. Mas mabilis silang sumagot sa email compared thru phone.

I noticed for first time visa applicants they are very particular with the requirement. But for succeeding applications kung may malimutan ka they will just ask you to bring it once you claim the visa.

^Yes. Credit card billing statements and the credit cards mismo. They may or may not choose to see them. Basta dalhin mo na lang.

Yang 6 months bank statement pala is sa embassy ng Greece. Nalito ako sa sis in law ko, siya kasi nag aayos. Ang itinerary namin is: april 29 to may04 Paris, may05 to may 08 Venice, may 09 to May 10 Rome. Then cruise na ng 4 days (Rome, Sicily, Naples), 4 days in Greece (Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes) and 1 day in Turkey (Ephesus). Bakit yung requirements ng embassy of Greece ang sinend niya samin?

plan namin ng husband ko na pumunta ng Rome & Paris sa April. (Rome: April 21-25, Paris: April 25-April29). Same number of days so Italian embassy dapat kami mag-aapply ng visa. kaya lang yung papunta namin ng Rome, since walang direct flight galing dito sa Japan, may connecting flight kami sa Paris. Magiging first port of entry na ba namin ang Paris? Pag Paris ang first port of entry namin, sa France embassy na namin kelangang mag-apply ng visa no?

@m_lim, the ruling on where to apply for your visa when it comes to multiple destinations is:

        1.) if equal number of days per country, apply at the embassy of the country of your first port of entry
        2.) apply at the embassy of the country where you will be staying the longest

In your case lumalabas na longest stay mo is in Italy, a total of 10 days. So sa Italian embassy ka dapat mag apply.


@appledapple, sis why not get an open jaw ticket na lang? In Paris, out Rome, or vise versa so di na kayo pabalik-balik. Saves you the trouble pa thinking where to apply for your visa.

@mama squeak! Thank you sa reply. ang plan talaga namin is In ng Rome, Out ng Paris. Gusto kasi namin na last destination namin ang paris. Ang problem lang wala kaming makitang direct flight to Rome and yung connecting flight to Paris ang pinakamura naming nakita & yun din ang maganda ang sched. Mag-change kami ng plane, from JAL to Alitalia, sa connecting flight namin. Hindi ko alam kung tatatakan na ba nila yung passport namin sa CDG airport. Nag-email na din naman ako sa French embassy para din i-confirm, wala pa lang silang reply. Thank you ulit

Question lang about hotel vouchers: What exactly are they? Are they supposed to follow specific formats? Kasi my hubby and I have booked budget accommodations for our europe trip. We asked for vouchers and the hotels/inns sent back word/pdf documents confirming our reservations, with the dates, room type, hotel name and contact info.
We don't know kung yun na yun? Coming from different hotels, they are different from each other symepre, but with the basic info I just mentioned.

I sent the files to our travel agency and asked her to look into at them.  Sabi nya:
"You can try to present that but if the Embassy asks for the voucher please call the hotel and ask them to provide you. "

So she thinks na hindi pa yun yung mga vouchers? Ano ba dapat para ma-consider na hotel voucher? May samples ba kayo that we can look at, please?
I'm just worried na baka hingan namin yung mga inns/hostels pero they may not know exactly what we need...

^sis, obviously your travel agent is an inexperienced one. The hotel emails whether email format or pdf format will serve as your proof of accommodation. That is what the embassies look for.

Yung voucher na sinasabi usually are issued by a travel agency here if you coursed your hotel booking thru them and will be presented at the hotel upon your check-in. But if you booked directly with the hotel thru their website or thru a third party booking engine i.e. agoda, hotelbooking.com, etc. then the confirmation email will serve as your hotel voucher.

^mama squeak, sabi ng SIL ko, sa French Embassy daw kami mag apply sabay sabay. seven kami. ewan ko kung bakit doon eh mas matagal nga kami sa Italy. yung MIL and [textspeak!] ko naman, mas matagal sa London.

naka sched na kami sa March28.

ano pala ipapakita ko for our accomodations? sa Airbnb kasi ako nagpareserve eh. Both sa Paris and Rome. sa Venice naghahanap pa ako ng hotel pero kung walang pasok sa budget, malamang sa Airbnb na rin.
