hello! im planning to get rhino before this coming holy week sana (mga april 15-16, 2014) and i have to decide this week coz i have to book the surgery two weeks in advance accdg to the doctors below.

i've consulted with:

dr. jay of faces and curves: open rhino (silicone bridge + alar + tip = P75k pag cartilage P105k).
dr. alonzo of beaufaces: closed rhino (silicone bridge + alar = P40k).
dra. collantes-jose: closed rhino (ear cartilage + alar + tip = P70k).

im kinda scared lang to get scars that wont heal coz even my pimple scars nga tagal gumaling hehe.   :-\

can anybody email me their before and after pics? even with scars kung meron. pls include the doctor, procedure and cost sana if you can still remember.  :)

my email add: bitemeimtoast@yahoo.com

your emails will have a big impact on my decision coz i really want to have my nose fixed asap.  ;D tho im leaning more on dra. CJC. sis @chirochan can u please email me ur pics? TIA!

thanks so much sisses!  :D

^^hi sis, i had rhinoplasty before kaso ni-reject ng body ko kc silicon. I'm really interested sa ear cartilage ni dra. collantes and cheaper than dra. jay's pf nya. i might consult soon. sila lang kc ang nasa shortlist ko for now.

as for the possible scars, alaga lang sis. after alisin stitches saken, contractubex na. as in religiously! off lang yung smell nun for me but it's okay kesa magka-scars di ba? kaya walang mark sa labas, sa loob may nakikita ako kc i know na merong tahi dati. but even my husband di nakikita, hihi.

^sis cristeen, sana makahanap ka ng malapit sa mismong clinic. and be prepared emotionally din ah esp kung walang mag-aalaga sayo? stock up ka ng ice? may swelling pa kc and parang ang pangit-pangit ng itsura and feeling pero ilang days lang yun. tiis-ganda lang!  ;)

^natunaw silicon sis, lumabas yung unti sa tahi so inalis na lang. okay pa din ang shape on the outside pero pinaalis ko pa din. pwede naman sana subukan ulit ikabit at a minimal fee kaso ayoko na. gastos din, i have to pay for operating room pag kabit then pay again if na-reject again. so might as well save for ear cartilage na

Hello everyone!

Sa lahat ng ng message saken asking for before and after pics, sorry at hindi ako nakakapag reply. After my last post here, I got so busy with my son, my work and the recovery sa rhinoplasty.

I'm sad to report that last Feb 28, I had the goretex implant removed from my nose. ng react ako sa material and super namaga bridge ko. Sayang kasi ang ganda na sana yung gawa ni Doc Eric.

Now, I'm healing from the removal and waiting until August. Mgpaparevise ulit ako, same doctor but using my own cartilage. Doc Eric won't charge me the professional fee, pero may damage pa rin for the operating room fees.

I made inquiries kay Doc Collantes but she is asking for 80k. Parang hindi nako willing to spend that much on vanity, especially since I'm not from Manila and every trip I make means time away from my son.

Ask ko lang kayo mga sis. If you were in my place, would you still go for Doc Eric for the revision or opt for another Doctor na? Okay naman si Doc Eric in terms of communication eh, he's been very accommodating sa lahat ng post op needs ko. I'm just feeling this nagging doubt sa kanya kasi he mentioned that cartilage has a tendency to warp over time and that there's a possibility that kulang ang ma harvest nya from my ears to augment my bridge. He says he could also take dermis from my butt area but baka daw hindi pa rin nya ma achieve kung ano nagawa nya with Goretex.

Somehow, I'm getting the impression with Doc Eric that he's not that comfortable working with cartilage. Unlike kay Collantes na positive na positive opinion nya about cartilage.

What do you think, ladies? Doc Eric pa rin ba or Doc Collantes na? Thanks sa lahat ng mgrereply and good luck sa mgpapa rhino pa lang.

^ hi sis baka hindi siya ganun ka-pro with cartilage, si doc collantes kasi kampante siya dahil madami na siyang pasyente na cartilage ang implant (she doesnt do goretex dahil sa mga bad effects) malapit na mag 1 year nose ko walang warping or any bad side effects since galing ito sa katawan ko. yun mga nagwarp na cartilage dahil daw minsan patay na yun cartilage bago malagay sa loob ng nose

Thanks for the reply, sis. Yung sau po ba naging enough cartilage mo sa ears to augment your bridge? Or kumuha pa ng dermis si doc collantes somewhere else?

Ang isa ko pa kasing concern is nasabi din ni Doc Eric na minsan, cartilage from the ear is not enough to give the ideal height sa nose. I asked if he can use rib cartilage (like surgeons in the U.S. do) but he said he doesn't want to because of its close proximity to vital organs like the lungs and heart.

Sobrang baba din kasi ng bridge ko eh :(

Hello guys! I'm on my 7th day post op... So happy I choose pure ear cartilage lalo na dami ko nababalitaan rejection from silicone at goretex. Salamat sa lahat ng nag share ng experience nila dito sa GT at sa mga nagsend ng before and after pictures. True pala sobra mabusisi ang ear cartilage imagine nag start kami 8am natapos kami 2:30pm na. :)

Hi megan, diced ear cartilage  wrapped in fascia (tissue) ba yan? o cinarve? Also, closed or open rhino?

Looking forward to your answers. Thanks!

Happy healing

Hi everyone! Update lang sa revision ko with Doc Eric. I sent him an email last Friday but until now no replies. I'm getting disappointed na because before he was very quick to respond pero now na may issue na, delayed na. I'm still hoping he will be able to fix this for me but I'm getting worried by the minute.

I had my mind set on doing a revision with cartilage for the bridge. Until I read this:

Ano masasabi ninyo, guys? I'm getting confused kasi iba iba information nasasagap ko kakaresearch. haay :(

Congrats MeganDa! I wish you the best sa recovery mo!

worry ko rin yan sis. sa totoo lang wala talagang "best" implant. aesthetically, i'm leaning towards ultrasoft silicon. well I have one year to do my research and think about it since after graduation pa ko allowed magpa-rhino.

Please refrain from quoting posts.

Update po ulit.

Ng reply na si Doc Eric and naka schedule na revision ko with him for July 11. I'm trying my best to be optimistic about it but I can't help but be worried. Reassuring na ulit si Doc so kahit papano that helps.

Anyone here na cartilage ang augmentation sa nose and 3 years and up na since the procedure was done? Kumusta po noses ninyo?

@ Snowpea: Good luck sa journey mo. I hope you make the right choices! :)

Hi Everyone, just wanted to share my experience on rhinoplasty.

In 2007, I had my rhinoplasty (goretex implant, alar and tipplasty with ear cartilage) at Shimmian Manila with Dr. Lansangan. I told him I wanted a pretty, natural-looking nose. However, after the surgery (done under general anesthesia), I looked completely different. My nose bridge was too high, my tip and alars were uneven, and the nose bridge to the tip looked like a slide (it was too straight). Don't get me wrong, it was still quite an improvement from my old nose... but it looked fake. You can tell Dr. Lansangan tried to impose his aesthetic on me and tried to make me look more "Eurasian" (as he would put it) without taking my facial structure into consideration, and so my nose ended up looking fake. I've read so many reviews on forums of his other patient's saying the exact same thing about him and his work... nose bridge too high and uneven alars, etc. It seems like he does the procedure the exact same way for everyone without regard to the patient's unique facial structure or aesthetic preference. It wasn't completely terrible, but I was not happy with it. Anyway, I didn't have the time to revise my nose as I was going to school abroad at the time. I lived with with this nose for about 7 years, till now.

About 6 weeks ago, I got my revision surgery with Dr. Alex De Leon of La Nouvelle Image, I've researched about him 7 years prior (months after my first rhinoplasty) when I knew I would someday get my nose revised. Back then, he was pretty popular on these threads. So many patients were raving about their results with him, so I knew I would get my nose revised by him one day. When I went in for a consultation, I initially thought I would just get my tip revised because I thought it would be impossible to remove the goretex because it's been 7 years and goretex apparently is porous and hard to remove. But Dr. Alex, noticed my high bridge (which I have always been concerned with) and asked if I wanted to revise the bridge as well. When he told me he could revise it even though it's goretex, I happily agreed!

The revision was done through local anesthesia only. He removed the goretex implant to reshape the high bridge implant done by the previous doctor. Crazy experience!!! I could hear him yanking the implant out, but I didn't feel anything but pressure. He fixed my tip with cartilage from the back of my ear. He really listened to me and my aesthetic... I told him I wanted the alars only slightly smaller. So he did one side and showed it to me and asked if I liked it before fixing the other alar. By the time I was done with the procedure, I looked so swollen, and I was afraid that he made my nose bridge too low and and my tip too fat. I looked like Frakenstein after with the stitches and swelling. For the next 2 days I was super swollen... as in, even my eyes were all puffed up. But I didn't feel any pain. I didn't have bruises cause I was taking Sinnech. I went to get my stitches off after 3 days, and I felt so unhappy about how fat my nose looked. But then I saw his other patients with perfect noses, and his partner dermatologist said she had her nose done by him as well... and it looked absolutely perfect and natural. She reassured me that the swelling would go down and it would reveal a beautiful nose. The nurse did a "laser" treatment for a couple minutes to help minimize the swelling.

The swelling started going down after the 4th day but still for a week, I was afraid I made the wrong decision because my nose looked so round and big. After the first week, I started seeing improvements. The swelling was going down significantly. By the second week, I saw how beautifully refined and natural my tip looked, my bridge fits perfectly with my face and my alars are even. This was the nose I wish I was born with. It's perfect for my face and it looks completely natural. I keep getting compliments about how pretty I look, and they can't even tell I got my nose done.

I'm very happy with my results, and I thought I'd share it with you all. I know how frustrating it is to look for a good doctor (for those who are thinking about getting the procedure done). I also know how frustrating it is to get it done and not like the results (for those who are seeking revision). And I know how annoying and depressing it is to sit and wait for the swelling to go down so you can look normal again after rhinoplasty. But now that I have the perfect nose for my face... I can say that it's all worth it!!! Best decision I ever made!!!

Good luck, everyone!

Hello. I'm not an expert but based on the readings that I did and also my own experience when my nose got infected, there should be no discharge coming from your nose after two weeks, unless you have colds. Even if walang smell ang discharge and clear sya, it really shouldn't be happening at all. Pero still, best to confirm with your doctor kasi he can check where the fluid is coming from.

I hope this helps!
