pwede ba magpacheck ng blood sugar kahit walang referral coming from the MD and kahit wala ka naman nararamdaman.. I just want to make sure na ok blood sugar level ko pati na rin sa mama ko pero wala naman signs of diabetes.. at ayaw ko naman na hintayin ang symptoms. 

there is the Pre-Diabetes stage. sa stage na eto, walang nararamdaman daw.

i think you can have a test. out of concern lang naman. pag wala. good. pag may slight problem,
at least maaga pa lang ma address na.

Anyone here using One touch Ultra glucometer? If yes, do you use the same brand for the lancet and test strips or we're you able to use any generic brand that is compatible for this glucometer?

Hi! from my experience as a nurse, you can use kahit anong lancet po. pangtusok lang naman po yun pero the strip has to be compatible with the machine. and usually dapat same brand po as the machine

last week nagpa test ako sa blood sugar ko. naisip ko lang na baka mataas sugar ko since nasa lahi ng mom ko na diabetic. anyway, yung result sa test is 137. diabetic na ba ako?

Kaiz, is that fasting blood sugar or random blood sugar? Kung fasting blood sugar iyan, seek a physician as soon as possible for further tests. Sadly that level falls under type 2 diabetes mellitus already.

agree. its quite high. but its also possible that she may have been eating very 'sugary' foods the few weeks before the test.

it is something that has to drilled further.

hope its not the fasting one.

hi mga sis, do research about BUAH MERAH MIX... i have a friend na 2x a day na siya nag iinsulin and a tita also.  After drinking a couple of bottles nag normal ang blood sugar nila.

Mga sis this is the latest guideline for dm diagnosis:
Diagnostic criteria by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) include the following[3] :

A fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level of 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) or higher, or
A 2-hour plasma glucose level of 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) or higher during a 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), or
A random plasma glucose of 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) or higher in a patient with classic symptoms of hyperglycemia or hyperglycemic crisis
Whether a hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) level of 6.5% or higher should be a primary diagnostic criterion or an optional criterion remains a point of controversy.

Indications for diabetes screening in asymptomatic adults includes the following[4, 5] :

Sustained blood pressure >135/80 mm Hg
Overweight and 1 or more other risk factors for diabetes (eg, first-degree relative with diabetes, BP >140/90 mm Hg, and HDL < 35 mg/dL and/or triglyceride level >250 mg/dL)
ADA recommends screening at age 45 years in the absence of the above criteria

hay.. sobrang lungkot ko.. nasa pre-diabetic stage na ko. my FBS is 107, higher than the normal range but not high enough to be in the diabetic range. aminado naman akong napabayaan ko sarili ko. hinayaan kong tumaba talaga ako and lakas ko kumain ng sweets, mga cake and cookies. I had gestational diabetes and I monitored my blood sugar 6 months after giving birth nag-normalize blood sugar ko and a year after giving birth nag-normalize pero ngayon tumaas na naman, taba ko na kasi ulit. never pa yata ako nakapag hba1c na test, usually fasting blood sugar lang and OGTT. feeling ko I failed, papano naman kasi I'm in my early 30s palang. Ang bata ko pa para magkaron ng diabetes. Sa gumagamit ng glucometer, anong brand ang may cheapest test strips? Accu-check kasi gamit ko when I was pregnant kaya lang hindi yata ito pinaka mura na test strips. I don't mind kung mas mahal yun mismo glucometer as long as the test strips are a bit cheaper.

My dad is Diabetic. Sobrang dami na niyang gamot na iniinom plus may insulin narin siya. Sobrang dami naring complications nitong Diabetes sa kanya. He's currently at the hospital right now kasi yung sugat niya hindi na gumagaling and umakyat na daw yung infection. Buti nalang at naagapan. But my dad still needs to undergo another laboratory test to check his Crea, blood,sugar,etc. Hope he gets well soon...

Hello everyone, hindi pa naman ako full blown diabetic, nag bo borderline pa lang. Pero halos mag 1 year na din na normal ang HBa1c ko at FBS.

Takot akong mag meds agad, so sabi naman ng doctor ko, i try ko muna na i control through diet and exercise.

Bale nag bawas ako ng rice, saka more on veggies, then nag take ako ng ampalaya plus capsules 6 tablets pag lunch then 6 tablets pag dinner.

Sa awa naman ni God, normal naman na blood sugar ko, pwera lang pag kumakain na naman ako ng maraming sweets, ayan nagkaka infection na naman ako, sign na tumataas ang blood sugar ko.


Narinig ninyo ba ang King's Herbal ni Ka Rey Herrera? Kasi yung pinsan kong naputulan ng daliri sa paa dahil diabetic, binanggit niya sa akin last week, sabi niya yung king's herbal lang daw nakapag pa tuyo nung sugat niya.

Kaya ginawa na din daw niyang maintenance.

Kaya napabili tuloy ako ng isang bottle, i try ko mamaya, sana effective... effective daw kasi siya sa diabetes..

someone suggested I buy my dad some Yakon tea for his diabetes, so bumili ako yesterday ... then today i did some research online and meron akong nababasa na sometimes may side effect sya sa kidney and intestines.... so now di ko alam kung ibibigay ko pa sya sa dad ko...

Hello may father was diagnosed with Diabetis too, and malaki improvement nung nag take sya ng mga herbal like, Turmeric (luyang dilaw) , guyabano leaves and sambong leaves. Nag start lahat sa gout nya tapos sa kidneys nya , taas ng creatine nya then complications nya is Diabetis. Nung una nag ti take sya ng di ko na mabilang na gamot, kaso nasusuka na father ko kaka take and mas labas pasok kami ng hospital, so naging maging ma tyaga kami sa pag research ng alternative meds, mejo matrabaho nga lang talaga, in the morning mag juice sya ng , ampalaya, celery, cucumber and carrots. Everyday yun. Di ko nga ma take pero ang father ko determine syang gumaling . Nag tanim pa kami ng insulin para lahat natural. Awa ng Diyos ok naman sya wag lang talaga matigas ang ulo , minsan kasi tumatakas yun para kumuha ng food sa ref.

1st school of thought, ipapa meds (non insulin) na agad habang maaga. para hindi ma exhaust ang internal organs.

2nd school of thought, kapag may predesposition ang isang bata, ie marami may diabetes sa family lineage nila, habang bata pa, paiinomin na ng supplements that would protect the pancreas.

isang style ng ibang matatanda, before or after kumakain, nag lalakad ng 30minutes or exercise.
para ma rev up ang metabolism. si kung 3x a day kumakain, 3x din yung exercise...at least.

tapos ang muscles kasi ang malakas kumain ng sugar. so yung iba talagang nag gygym. para laging gutom ang muscle.  it takes 2-3 days of rest to replenish the muscle reserves so those who can't do every day, go every other day, with 2 days of rest from lifting at the most.

I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic a few months ago. We're trying to get pregnant kase and my OB had my blood sugar checked, ayun buminggo ako. She requested for FBS & HBA1C; sa FBS kase it's 10-12 hours lang prior the extraction sa HBA1C wala daw akong takas, mahuhuli at mahuhuli niya daw ako kase she said HBA1C is mga 3 months worth of blood sugar result/level.

She prescribed Metformin 500mg 3x a day; but I was not able to consistently take it. Minsan kung kelan ko lang naalala (bad!). So earlier this year, nag test kame ulit ng HBA1C, medyo mataas pa din (6.40, border is 6.30 so she referred me to an Endocrinologist to help us.

The endo requested for blood tests again and had me monitor my blood sugar 4x a day.. Buti nalang my mother in law already had the kits. I was initially using Freestyle pero walang mabilan ng testing strips; she also had Accucheck which is mas common dito so I switched para makabili ako ng testing strips in Mercury. Grabe yung 4x a day, nagpapasa na yung daliri ko. I'm now down to 1x a day of checking and due to go back next week.

I asked the Endo re Keto diet since that diet eliminates carbs; ok naman daw, but it's not advised to be done for more than 1 year kase ang studies palang is based on 6 months-1 year. And siyempre with Keto, cholesterol naman ang dapat bantayan. So basically, I'm sort of following the Keto diet with a diabetic diet na din.

Masabi ko lang ha, ang daming sugar sa mga pagkain hehe ang hirap! But all for the baby ang goal ko, so talagang kailangan mag pursigi.
