whole life sis means protected ka your whole life until age 100. (whole life daw kasi iilang tao na lang ang nakakarating ng 100)sa sun safe 20, good for 20 years protection lang kasi yan. pagdating ng 20th year, ibibigay ang value ng insurance pabalik sa may-ari. Ang dating, parang, pinag-ipunan mo sya and by the 20th year, withdraw mo lahat ng funds, ang kinaiba, may insurance lang syang kasama.

OO sis. UITF yan. You can also try Mutual Funds with FAMI, PhilEquity or Sunlife. The difference kasi with UITF and Mutual Fund is that, sa UITF you just participate and the bank is the shareholder, sa MF, ikaw ang shareholder and you have the right to receive dividends and the right to vote, that makes you a partowner of the company.

i didnt know na with MF pala you can receive dividends?

So pag may FAMI ka sis, how does that happen?

Or maybe for those who have FAMI here for a long time, they can share how this is being done with MFs. Kasi I am new client lang so wala pakong experience sa ganyan.

I have no idea sis with FAMI as different company have different protocols.  ;) Dividends can either be in the form of stock dividend din naman kasi.  :)

@swit_squiggle i wanna get insurance primarily because i wanna have something when i grow old at the same time if ever i die unexpectedly hindi na rin mahihirapan family ko sa expenses tapos may maiiwan pa sa kanila, but if i live up to the golden years atleast i have money from the insurance.

btw sis thanks for the insight, because of that i asked the agent if there are still other plan available
and i was offered sun safe 20- non smoker.any advice? tia
It depends on your age. Age 25 retiring at 60 is very different to age 45 retiring at 65. In the first case, VULs will be the better choice while on the second case, the 20year endowment provides a stabler choice.

I mean, wala naman syang dependents...

Yes okay ang endowment for obvious reasons = may nakukuha ka regularly. :) And regarding sa bata na kukuhanan ng insurance, I understand that, wala pa naman sila talagang dependents eh, but for me (well my husband and I), it gives us sense of fulfillment that we are saving something for our daughter na sa kanya lang, sa kanya nakapangalan..it could also serve as dowry by the time she marries, in short=pamana.
Of course, that is on top of the other ari-arian kung meron man.

^ Not only that.

I have few reasons why I am against getting any life insurances for kids.
1) They do not earn any income. Primary purpose of a life insurance policy is income replacement of breadwinner.
2) These kids could pay for their life insurances themselves when they get older. Some jobs even provide life insurances that are paid by their employers.

I don't buy the argument that kids must have life insurances while they are younger and while premiums are cheaper. Sila (the kids) na dapat ang gumastos ng life insurance policies nila when they become breadwinners themselves, not us parents. Dagdag na gastusin lang kasi. I'd better put that money on their dreams, education and those co-curricular activities that they want on the side.

Your statements are all correct sis freelancer. IF one is to get a policy for the KID's life insurance (protection) and NOT for education funding. Just to raise some arguments also:
1.) For education funding, that's why there's Endowment plans and MF plans available.
2.) Well to each his own, like my reason which i stated above. :)

And yes I agree, it's cheaper when the insured is still young, kaya dali-dali din kami kumuha for my daughter after i gave birth :) But I don't agree na dagdag "gastusin" lang yon, kasi hindi naman sya tinatapon or pinambili ng something na gagamitin ko lang or mauubos ko lang (like food or toy), hindi sya expense dahil naka-safety lang naman yung money sa insurance company (while earning dividends) or naka-invest pa (kung VUL or MF), plus other benefits pa (e.g. endowment). That money that we save while they're still babies could be used on their dreams, education, and those co-curricular activities that they want on the side...because with my daughters' policies, we can withdraw partially the dividends, endowments or even the fund value.

Oh, by the way, syempre insured din kami ng husband ko before we got our daughters their own policies..Getting insurance for the children alone (tapos yung parents ang hindi insured) ang non-sense for me.

Tama yung sabi ni sis swit_squiggle na wag lang kukuha ng basta-basta, hindi porke na-sales talk, it's a shame if you will not feel yung feeling of being "secured" and "financially independent" kung hindi mo naintindihan yung binili mong insurance.

Kami din ni hubby lumaki sa  "business environment" and we are now both managing each other's family business.

I think its almost the same with other companies. Because most insurance companies have the same tables used to determine their premium and the same tactics used to perceive the earnings. Ang sa mga kukuha na lang ng insurance ang tanong, saang kompanya ka ba kampante? can you imagine the same company will give the same and better service after 100 years or more?

Iba naman sis with VUL, kasi hindi return of premiums ang nangyayari, depende lang sa fund earnings at upon death ang guaranteed sum.

after the age 88 mameejhy, surrender na ang policy. so kung ano ang laman ng policy o yung tinatawag na fund value, yun lang ang makukuha ng policyholder.  :). Pasalamat tayo at age 88 hindi natin nagamit ang insurance. hehe..long live!!

nakuha mo sis!!

Its better to have a small amount of insurance than none, but its best to be adequately insured.  ;)

Ang primary purpose mo na yata is to protect your investments sa MF, UITF, Stocks and Real Estate. Mag-term ka nalang or VUL. Same lang ang term at VUL in the sense na ang insurance component ng VUL is basically computed gamit parin ang presyo ng term. Ang primary advantage na makukuha mo with going VUL is Premium Holiday and walang modal factor sa monthly payments (not all companies offer the 2nd feature).
