Hi Marlo!
If you can pm or email me sana I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

^

This is in my opinion, taken from personal experience owning and running
businesses since 2003 (I had experience helping out my mom when I was
younger, pero hindi ko naman sineryoso, I believe I learned more when it
was my own money [and borrowed money] I was risking)

In any business, before you create your concept, check out the market
first. Look at what they are already buying and at what price point.

This does not necessarily mean the exact line of what your selling, in your
case, bread and pastry. You should also consider other breakfast and
snack shops in the area.

A competition is not just defined by the specific product you are trying
to sell, but what takes money and satiety of your prospective clients.

Once this is done, you can test small, meaning you can create a batch
of your products, and try to sell them.

I don't advise surveys in food, as what people actually do is almost
always different from what people say.

It's not that people intentionally want to lie, but people want to tell you
what you want to hear.

If you've found a good product (maybe pan de sal) that is priced right
for your market, you can test different marketing strategies.

I don't see this done in bakeries, but I believe it can work well:
(on second thought, Dunkin donuts do)
Try creating combos that seem "sulit" to your customers, as these will
(hypothetically) drive customers to go back again and again to your
bakery.

---

As for the stuffs used, a good pugon is gas operated, don't go for the
electrical ones.

The taste on the breads are different, iba yung roast ng gas burned.

Start cooking between 3 or 4am (3 is better) as people usually (I'm
not sure in other areas as this really depends on market) buy from 5am
to 7am.

Our bakery then peaked sales at those times.

Have some variety, para hindi nagsasawa mga customers mo.

:)

Hope this helps. If you have other questions, just ask them.

meron akong officemate who's into baking. cakes talaga ang focus nya.

i remember nagsimula sya by bringing sa office yung mga ni-bake nyang cakes. Then, start na magtanong mga officemates namin sa kanya if he can make b-day cake for their kids. hanggang sa pati mga wedding cakes & souvenirs na order sa kanya..

siguro sis try mo yong ganun muna..gawa ka, then dalhin mo sa office then offer parang taste test..if magustuhan naman nila, order na sila sayo..or pwede mo din i-consign sa canteen nyo sa office if you have one..  ;)

my sis is into this business. small time and homebased lang. ang tinitinda lang nya is pandesal at loaf bread. sa umaga lang sya nagbebenta ng pandesal. she bakes around 3-4am. tapos 5am start na sya magbenta sa subdivision nila. ubos lagi ang pandesal. yung loaf naman, mas mabenta daw pag may umoorder para sa parties, etc. mabenta yung sa kanya kase masarap saka wala ata sya kalaban sa area nila.

wala syang background sa baking. i think she enrolled in a 3day baking class lang. tapos bumili sya ng oven saka maliit na display rack. then ready to go na.  :) i think now, she is planning to add other pinoy merienda bread like ensaymada, etc.  :)

Thanks Marlo for the inputs.

Thanks din sis adreanina, actually sa office I'm bringing some of my baked goodies, kaya lang puro lalaki kasi kaya taga-kain lang palagi. tee hee!!!! But i already got orders from some kaya lang ang hirap magdala sa office kasi bawal magbenta. Good idea din to offer sa canteen concessionaire.

Sis milkchocolate, gusto ko din yan ganyang idea to have a home based bakery muna, then offer sa village namin yung pandesal and loafbread. Can you please ask your sis if what kind of oven she uses kasi maliit ata ang la germania para sa pandesal and loaf bread.

Thanks sa mga inputs. =) Sana marami pa mag-share.

business.

Malalaki.

We had an oven before that costs 100k.

Pero may mas mura.

First, I think I would like to do the home-based bakery. What size of oven should I use for this kind of micro business? I would like to test the market first.

The bikers wear white polo na may logo nung bakeshop plus they wear native hats. pag ummulan may tatak din yung raincoats nila.

question po. do we need to secure business permit pa before we start a bakery business? maliit lang naman yung pwesto pero matao yung place. gusto na kasi namin umpisahan yung business kasi may kausap na kaming panadero. pero yun nga need pa ba business permit for this? thanks!
