problems of our kids sa school (bullying etc..)
« on: July 25, 2011, 01:48:29 pm »
hi mga sis, please share any problems na na encounter ng mga kids nyo and how did you handle it.

just last week, nabigla ako sa sinabi ng daughter ko na she was slap by her classmate. nag a-announce kasi ng name si teacher kung sino naka perfect (kakatapos lang their long test). 1 boy and 1 girl daw ang naka perfect. ni threatened sya ng classmate nya na pag ang anak ko ang naka perfect sasampalin nya ng sampung beses. but prior to the announcement of those who scored perfect sinampal na daw sya. di nya daw alam kung baket at nasaktan daw sya.

sumulat ako sa teacher and coordinator about sa nangyari. i asked them kung anong action ang gagawin nila and their policy sa pam bu-bully. transferee kami sa school nya ngayon at yung nanampal sa kanya sya daw ata pinaka mataas na grades nung grade 1, im not sure though kung 1st honor or what. my daughter also ang nag top nung grade 1 sya sa previous school. baka mamaya sadyain nya na magpamali dahil dun sa classmate nya na yun. tahimik po my daughter sa school at di sya kagad nagsusumbong.

kayo mga mommies what will you do?

^OMG,at a young age like that marunong na mambanta :o Nakakaloka naman 'yan sis!

I really hope schools do something about this, and parents too. I find it disgusting na some parents find bullying funny 'kase bata pa naman'. Pag sa kids naman nila nangyari yan I'm sure they will feel really bad too.

Yeah and it shouldnt be taken in a stride. I feel disgusted with the parents who just tolerate it.

we already informed the teacher. ang problema the classmates would do it when the teacher isn't around. hay naku!

When my son was in Grade 1, na-bully din sya. Be it on classroom and on school service. Syempre yun mga first instances, sabi ko lang sa anak ko na wag patulan or sabihin nalang sa teacher pero ng dumating yun point na ayaw nya pumasok, kinausap ko na yunteacher and the school service owner and bus boy.  Dumating yun time na pati yun ka-service nya na ahead sa kanya sinabihan ko na din pero on a friendly manner para hindi lalong i-bully yun son ko. Now that he's in Grade 2, nagkaron ng issue na sya naman ang nang-bully sa classmate nya. It really bothers me. The mother of his classmate na binully nya called our house and unfortunately I wasn't around to talk to her. That night kinausap namen ng husband ko ang anak namen and explained to him na hindi maganda yun ginawa. Sabi namen he should say sorry and we let him promise not to do that again.

I had the chance na makausap yun mommy nun na-bully ng anak ko and I said sorry on behalf of my child. Buti nalang mabait din yun mommy and we both agreed na i-monitor namen yung mga bata.

When we make kwento of the incident, we humor it a little kasi sa totoo lang it was unusual for my son and I know its not his nature na maging bully. Buti nalang hindi na naulit ulit and I can say na close friends na sila :)

I think the parents has a big role in stopping the cycle of bullying especially kung aware ka sa nangyayari. We really shouldn't take it lightly kahit pa sabihin na mga bata pa yan kasi it'll have an impact sa paglaki nila.

Here's what happened kase.  Because of the nature of my job, we move a lot so ang mga kids ko may "two-year school streak", meaning almost two years lang sila nagtatagal sa isang school. Nung una hindi ko alam since yaya ang naghahatid at sumusundo sa kanila and I'm always out of town.  Then one time na nasa house ako on vacation nasabi nung yaya, na nakikita daw nya yung anak ko na inuutusan ng kaklase nya na kunin yung mga lunch bag sa locker area, bumili ng snacks at kung ano ano pa.  I don't know what came to me, siguro halo na ng awa sa anak at guilt dahil parang "absentee mother" ako (because of my job), sinugod ko yung school at kinausap ko ang mga school officials and teachers.  Nag-apologize yung teacher and promised to investigate pero natrauma yung anak ko.  Because of that ayaw ng magkwento ng anak ko kung anong nangyayari sa school nya dahil baka daw ako sumugod sa school.  I kid had a hard time shaking off that trauma, until now na magcocollege na sya.

So mga mommies, ingat talaga, though, we should not take for granted if our kids are being bullied pero wag po susugod agad.  Better if we could talk to our kids first, write a letter, then wait for the school investigation, tsaka magpakita sa school.  Also pag medyo malaki na ang mga bata ask them if they can handle the problem themselves, if they'll say they can do it on their own, guide lang tayo and follow up. If not, tsaka lang mag-intervene.

Then after sya hataw-hatawin sa braso e nagsorry naman daw agad.

I asked if naglalaro sila ng nanay tatay, hindi raw.

Just like what I've said in my earlier post, we need to do something to stop the bullying cycle.

Hi mommies, I feel for you cause Im a mom myself.  Yet, I work as a counselor so I just hope to share some insights.

NO matter who may bully your child, ask your child for the details, without commenting or jumping to conclusion.  We parents need to see and understand it from our children's perspective.

Though we know ur child is really troubled, talk to the school authorities, BUT not the other child's parents.  Talk to the teacher, counselor, the coordinator, the school directress/principal about the incident.  They are the best persons to handle the situation.  Our concern is the welfare of our child.  Whatever justice we want, best to trust the school about it.

Lets choose what is in our control and let go of what is not.  What can we do is that develop our child's self-esteem, confidence, interpersonal skills, the kind of friends to play with and the ability to deal with others.  THis lies in our hands as parents.  The values we teach at home are what manifest in school.  If we forever save them and cushion them from difficult people, the opportunity for them to learn to deal with them apprpriately us missed.  The more the pattern continues, they dont get to develop their personal skills.

Ive seen students with moms fighting their battles for them.  They are less resilient and cannot rely on themselves when they later move to middle school.  They are become weak or bossy too, knowing that others would be there to fight for them.  If they go to my room, telling me of their concerns with classmates, I dont mediate for them.  I coach my students on the ways they can handle it.  Ive seen cases too, that parents fight due to their kids' misunderstandings.  Such a sad reality.

So to avoid all these, trust your school.  Follow up if needed.  Ask for an appointment with school authorities.  If your child is uncomfortable, explain to them that you want to ask help.  Best to do it in a tone of concern for the welfare of your child, and how the bullying/teasing is affecting him.  This is not about the  difficult kids.  Its the "behavior" and not the person of the bully.

Yet in the end, we are teaching our kids Life Skills.  They bring this with them for life.  Everywhere there are bullies, difficult people and all.  But we can help our children manage them if we develop the skills needed.  :)

^ thanks sis.  sad to hear about your nephew.  if its physical harm, call the school immediately. they need to investigate and process the case immediately.   hay, i just handled a case like that this morning.  for your nephew, be supportive and help him deal with these difficult chidlren,  help him too pano iwasan yung mga ganyan.

writing a complaint will help, lalo na pag serious offense.  its recorded and you can CC the adviser, counselor and even the principal.  sana maayos.

Grabeh... nakakainis naman yan. :(

Well, being ako ay walang care and nangyari sa school bus. Eto ang ginawa ko:

1) Sumulat ako sa owner ng school bus may receiving copy ako (as in formal... mala lawyer type since sanay ako gumawa ng ganyan with work)
2) I sent a copy to the Adviser (since classmate ng anak ko), Level Coordinator, and Principal
3) The next day after ko malaman... binungangaan ko yung conductor na bakit hindi niya pinigilan (kesyo daw di siya marunong mag english, hello... nag duguan na...itatagalog paba yun)
4) Inaway ko talaga yung bata... (sorry but lumalaban talaga ako sa bata).  Told him... "____, why did you do that to (my son)???!!! Do you have to kick him in the face???!! The next time you do that or to any of your classmate... I am going to make sure that you will never go to school again! Do you understand!????"  napa "opo" nalang siya. :)

Right after na receive ng principal yung letter ko, tinawagan agad ako and inask yung parent nung bata.  The mom apologized to me so much and pag sasabihan daw yung anak niya.  Now, friends na sila nung anak ko.

But, I told my son... choose your friends wisely.  Friends who hurt you are not friends.

Dapat talaga, isang bully pa lang... gerahin na ang mga batang bully na mga iyan or even yung magulang.  Wala silang right to do that.

:) http://www.gmanews.tv/largevideo/home/65050/24oras-ako-bicol-party-list-files-anti-bullying-bill
